Raceabout since patch.

Hi,

Has anyone else noticed how the raceabout understeers now with the new patch (U). Ive tried all the sets on inferno and I cant find any that behave close to what it did before the patch. My times have gone up in the RAC - whereas almost all the other cars have gone down.

Does anyone have a good set for the RAC? or is it an issue with the car itself. If you do could you post it here pls

Btw, im not moaning about the patch. Its the best thing since sliced bread Im just not sure why the RAC is the only car to get slower.

Mods are easy to run in rfactor. U just install them - usually just by extracting a zip to the root rfactor directory and then select them in rfactor itself to play them.

Collision and deformation isnt done in real time like LFS. bits just fall off. it looks ok but its not great.

The physics are quite different to LFS. You seem to have more grip, but when the car does start to slide your in trouble - i usually spin out I think LFS physics are better but its purely an opinion. Many will think Rfactors are better.

You really need to see for yourself. There is a demo of rfactor but its a pre gold version so some things (like the netcode) are a bit weak in it. But its shows you what the physics are like in one of the road going cars and its race variants.

This is just my opinion. But. When ive tried to play online in rfactor (not a huge amount I admit) there are never any full servers and if there are there are so many mods and tracks that you never have the right ones. The community is very fragmented as a result of the open nature of the platform.

Hope that helped.

You are really gonna need more precision than a PS2 controller will give you. You just cant be accurate in the mid movement ranges with a PS2. Remember with a wheel you hardly ever go full lock.

A possible solution would be to lower the wheel lock in your setups but then you wont be able to hold slides as easily.
Logitech G25 wheel (new) - Woohhoo

Heres the new wheel from logitech, and man does it look ace!!

Only problem is the RRP of $299. Seems a bit steep but you do get a 6 speed shifter and metal pedals.

Start saving!

Help pls.

Great race all that turned up.

Im hoping there will be more. Great choice of car and track by the way. Perhaps next time keep the cars the same but change the track, that way we get some really good close racing.

And post it in the general part (im sure admins wont mind - they may want to come).

Thanks

Just you to know, no pushing, no crashing, only gentleman manners, race will not get restarted no matter what happens, race as you would in reallife, respect other racers and we have good race.
This may not be best for beginners, intended for those who take racing seriously, of course beginners are welcome too if respects this rules.

Im really up for this race but what time does it start in GMT?
dave81983

When is that in GMT??

Its 3.41 In GMT now so the race should be ongoing but I cant find the server. am i right??

Quote from SamH :if there are two cars that can run competitively together, I'll create servers for them.

Please do!

Quote from SamH :I'm a little confused by your post though.. please use XFG, XRG and XRT as terms so I can be sure to create the right servers.

Sorry. What im asking for is that all servers that are running XFG ( and there are loads - many of which regularly have people playing) also run the XRG because their performance is now almost equal.

I may have confused you, I wasnt talking about the XRT which is in a completely different class (TBO).
Why does nobody run the XF GTI and XR GT together anymore????
dave81983

Before the patch the XF GTI was way faster than XRGT. Now they are within a 10th of a second of each other on BLGP. So why IN GODS NAME do people not run the two together on the servers anymore. Almost all the XFGTI servers do not have the XRGT enabled. This is ludicrous!

All we wanted for this class was equality, now we have it and I cant find anywhere to drive them together!

Hosts running XFGTI please put the XRGT back in!

In response to the original post.

I think your exagerating. I understand what you mean but usually ( as long as your in a busy server) there are enough people in the race to make it intersting. Although yes, occassionally you do get the situation where people are either to fast or to slow to really "race" agaisnt.

Its much harder with a clutch pedal. Use auto clutch.

If you use a clutch you need to brake and accel with one foot so cornering is much harder. You could learn to heel toe but thats very difficult to do properly unless your a pro racing driver.

I agree, adding the LX4 to the TBO class worked quite well. For a start it got more people in those servers and the racing was fairly close between the two classes.

I actually see a lot more servers for TBO, lx4 and Rac/FZ5/lx6. Although this may just be because since the patch more people are playing and the numbers will die off again in a month or so.

But i agree, I have hardly played the BF1 online at all. Im crap in it and so are most others!

For me you just cant beat the closer racing that the road cars give you. I never use the GTR cars.

I do agree with you that the FOX and FO8 are awesome now. Much better than the BF1 IMO.

No, they are sending me the new wheel first. Then I have to send them the connectors.

What you think?

I think I will atlest wait until they pester me about it.

Ok,

So they are sending me a new wheel but they have told me to cut off the USB and pedal leads and send them to an address. Anyone had any experience of this? What happens if you dont??

I really want to keep my pedals (they half work) and wheel as a backup incase this new one goes wrong.

Shall I risk not sending them??

MOMO racing returns - any experience
dave81983

Hi,

I have had my MOMO for 1 and a half years, it says in the manual that I have a 2 year warranty, although ive read a lot of people saying it only has 1 year. Which is it??

Also has anyone had any experience with getting replacement pedals?? Do you phone them up?? Do you have to send them your pedals??

Thanks

Dave.

Also,

Notice that the pictures of the dashboards have changed. The FO8 one is darker and the FOX one is much brighter.

You need to tell us exactly what you have and havent done.

As guy above says - click on wheel in the controls menu. Then you need to assign your axis they wont just be set up automatically. Click on the axis tab. Then click on steer, then on the right hand side is all your axis (move your wheel to find out which one is the wheel) then click on that axis to assign it to steering. Do this for throttle and break and your good to go. You may need to invert some of the axis with a momo. To do this just click on "invert".

Does this help?

thanks for the mathsy stuff! I dont really understand that equation and Im only playing around, but 2 or 3 (with that new matrox thing) monitors really does look cool. I think its the way forward - except the gap comes in the middle of the screen with 2 monitors.

The reason I ask for more FOV, incase scawen is reading, is that as the mathsy stuff says you can only get 81 degrees. This is obvious in game because with two monitors and 120 FOV I get less vertical FOV than with one monitor and 90 FOV. This makes everything look a bit "zoomed in" to me. I dont really like that.

Anyway, with 3 monitor setups about to become more common I think maybe its time we were allowed 140/150 FOV now. What you think?

Any way to make FOV more than 120 for 2 or 3 monitors
dave81983
S2 licensed
Hi.

Im currently experimenting with 2 monitors in LFS. Yes its useless because the gap between the monitors is in the middle but I still think its cool to play around with. Anyway, I was wondering if you can force LFS to have an FOV higher than 120 by editing a text file somewhere ( or any other way).

I think that with 2 monitors 120 FOV isnt enough, anything I can do?

Thanks

Dave.

6600 GT no probs.

I think the easiest way to see the effect is to look down the blackwood straight and into the background, it looks a little foggy.
