First off all, thanks for the answers, but on the page for the dxtweak tool is written that it will work on Windows 95,98,Me....does it also work on XP?

Help with steering wheel

My steering setup is:
240° because i have the GRT Pro FF(which has an angle of 240°).
then i set the steering compensation to 0.

But now the problem, if i have my wheel steered 90° in the FO8, the wheel in the game is more than 90°. So its not 1:1, although i have no steering compensation.

How can i handle this? I mean if it would be realistic, than the wheel in the game could only turn to 240° even if the F08 itself could theoretically do more.

Is there a way to make it 1:1 realistic?

Like in the title, i would like to see a model of an actual ChampCar.
With all its features and engine and weight dates.

These cars are looking so cool.

do you have other steering devices at usb ports like pads or joystick. if so try to unplug them.

and second try some laps without force feedback and watch if there is the same problem.

Press "F12", the track name is displayed at the top of the box. Also the number of laps for the race.

No i don't think so. It's not more like in real racing. Drivers there in a race will also first concentrate on the race and not try to get FL.

It would be just an information who is pushing hard(fastest at the moment) or something like that.

And that LFS tells you is not enough, it is only for a short moment and you can not read in every situation. And in my age even not remember after a few laps

Maybe it could be done with a button!? You press "l" for eg, and then the FL will be displayed again for a few seconds....

I would be glad to see the fastest lap of the race always in the top right or left.

Then you could see which time to beat if you wanna have the FL.
Maybe with the name of the driver!?

The game is getting better and better, and for me it is the best racing all time.

But the sound of the F1....

Esspecially the sound if you watch the race, for example in Oval.
That is a desaster. I watched a lot F1 races in real live and that is a complete different sound.

Hope there will be improvements in the future.

But with server option.
And a name marker on the grid position.

The one who fails to stop right, has to start from the back. like stalled engine in F1.

Of course start of the information lap behind a AI pace car.

Maybe we will see full course yellow behind pace car in the future after big crashes with debris or oil on the track(dreaming )

On Aston Club and Blackwood GP i am a little faster. Heard of people who are faster now and some slower with their old sets.
In my opinion it surely depends on the setup and driving styles itself.
For the one set and driving style the preload will take a "negative" effect. For the other set or driving style it is faster/better now.

But it will only take some days and ppl have adjust their preloads to their driving styles. Then the times should be similiar like in the past

I have found out that it is in most cases the Rumble(Force Feedback) function.

After i turned it off. i had no lags.

So maybe this info will help someone

I have it too since Patch X.

Normally i had it when i switched with Tabulator and returned back. Now i have it from beginning.

I can see from the network connection lines that it is the problem from there, becaue my "connectometer" is going high, stays there for a part of a second and so on. Unplayable.

So at the moment i cannot play with patch X

I dodn't know why people think GPS is accurate, it isn't. A measurement from the wheels is much more accurate as long as you do not have free spin.

A damage model where the car is out of the race will be enough.

You guys remember the racing game IndyCar Racing 2 from Papyrus?

From 1995 i think, but a very cool damage model. If you had a high speed crash for example the car falled into a lot of pieces and you could see the engine completely.

Or if you just touched one, the front wing got deformated and you could feel the disadvantage behaviour of the car until you stopped to repair it . That was very good.

Yes of course, but like i wrote, there will be a time penalty. Maybe there could be a counter in the box menu runnning down (i.e. 10min). and only then you can join.

So if there was less time left in qualifying, then there would be no chance to continue qualy

Would be great to get the box menu only if you stop the car in a garage.
You stop there, then the box menu opens automatically.

And if you had a crash on track so that you can not manually drive in the garage, then it should be a time penalty of maybe 10 minutes or something if you have to press Esc to open the box menu.

So if there is a qualifying for only 15 minutes. and you crash in minute six or did flip on the top. then the qualy would be over for you

I would like to see a "gap-button". F.e. you press g and the gaps from last round are shown again. not only when you drive over the start-finish line.

this function was also in the GrandPrix Games from Geoff Crammond and were usefull i think.
it would be very simple to add, wouldn't it.

the other feature i would like to see would be a lot more statistic menues in a race and qualy.
F.e. you can switch with the s button through the actual tables of top speed of the drivers and their split times and things like these. in real f1 racing the drivers also have more information.on which lap is which driver, in pit or on track and so on.

How can i do it? Should they get Player setup and there i do 100% fuel? or can i set it somewhere else.

I let them drive will their own setup
Possible to train AI with unlimited fuel?

Helo everyone,

if i train the AI drivers it is alwasy bad to see them stopping after some laps because of no fuel.

Is there a way to let them drive with unlimited fuel?

I would like to have the following improvements in LFS:

1.) An information lap before the Race starts and then the option to race with flying start or normal start depends on server settings.

2.) Oil and water temperature which gets higher by much and high rpm and slipstream driving.
There should also be an option of f.e. 3 or 4 motor management choices in the cockpit and the pits to decrease or increase rev limit.
Too long and high temperature will lead to an technical breakdown.

3.) The option of technical breakdowns in a race.

4.) False starts.

5.) Dust and debris on the track which can lead to full couse yellow behind a pace car.

Would be probably a lot of development work but then LFS would be close to the perfect racing game
