I know about the cultural/economic differences between countries re: tipping.
I was responding to el pibe (mostly, but also Kingsbury) re: "Dont look at me like im a cheap bastard, i am a student, you expect my pockets to be full of gold?"
Tipping in the US/Canada is more or less a part of the social contract. It's expected (for the reasons you explained), and if you can't afford to go out and eat when a reasonable tip is factored into your bill, you should stay home or go to a fast-food joint. If you eat at a proper restaurant and don't tip, you'd better have a damn good reason. End of story.
Argo was fine. I didn't think it was the best of the year by any stretch, but among those nominated it was certainly one of the best. Zero Dark Thirty, too.
The Master wasn't nominated, but it probably should have won. Phoenix certainly should have won Best Actor, and possible PSH for supporting actor.
Thanks, guys. I've posted these before, but it's nice to go back and look at them occasionally.
pärtan, it's the Sigma 100-300mm f/4 on the Nikon D700. I got the lens for $550 used, but they're going for a lot more now 'cause they're getting scarce.
Yeah, I've done some panning with bikes and long lenses and it gets very difficult indeed. Hard to pan and get more than one in a shot when you're shooting at 300mm, too.
Not every incident is the same, in severity or intent. This was a pretty blatant intentional wrecking maneuver. CE was going around, one way or another, and that's not racing.
