I remember him talking about the VWS, then Rockingham, then new tyre physics, then open configurations, then more objects for the layout editor, then Oculus support, and now a new Westhill.
Scawen talks a lot but delivers rarely. If wants to ban me for speaking my opinion then good on him but this is this sim went from magazine articles and the talk of sims in 2005 to having memes made about its lack of development or care from the developers.
I am sad that I ever contributed money to such lazy developers.
And as for Cargame.nl - I live off my own income in my own house, internettryhard. When did you buy Daves account because I can tell by the awful typing, this is not Dave.
Years waiting on "new physics". In that time, Household PC computing power has increased exponentially, yet we still don't even have a physics test patch BUT we can have support for the Derpulus Rift.
This graphic speaks plenty. Give up on supporting old hardware, its being replaced every couple of years now.
So do you think when you go see a movie at a theater the movie is "jerky" because standard cinema frame rate is still 24 FPS unless you go see IMAX which then is only 48 FPS. This stupid bickering over frame rate and LFS performance is stupid. If you can't achieve decent FPS in a 12 year old simulator, UPGRADE YOUR HARDWARE.
If you can afford to buy a G27 or an Oculus Rift then you can afford to buy a decent graphics card. Stop making the developers waste time on new things like your poor performance related to outdated hardware.
@Lfs Devs. You can purchase an AMD FX CPU and a current generation NVIDIA graphics card that will gladly give you more than 100 FPS in LFS for really really cheap now. Stop catering to the few and start advancing this simulator that has been stalled of any major progress for years now.
No the issue is people are too lazy to take time and learn the software they are using. They expect nothing will go wrong so they don't need to learn how to change settings or do anything other than what they want to do. Lack of understanding of the technology you are using is the problem, not the object. Can't blame a gun for killing someone, just like you can't blame a computer for releasing private information when you don't know how to use it properly in the first place.
Must suck living in NZ, sounds like everyone is trying to steal each others identity there.
Mods are not intended to be a way for wannabe coders to try and mooch money off the developers of said program that they created a modification for. Mods are created from editing existing code that is already property of another person, just because you spent time editing someone elses code doesn't make it perfectly fine for you to try and earn money off someone else.
People thinking mods are original works are delusional, without the original code, your "mod" would be nothing but useless characters.
#1 The Witcher 3 has NO MULTIPLAYER MODE even when purchased legally
#2 LFS is already so cracked and easily obtainable that even those playing it illegally are so bored with the content they have to resort to VOB and other kinds of mods.
#3 LFS will NEVER go to Steam or GOG because quite simply that means less income from the devs and it also means that on top of the tax issues they also have to deal with w/e nonsense Steam puts in place
To summarize:
LFS is doomed to a slow and painful development/death of development process. The devs are too stubborn to sell out or to bring on more help to speed things up. They are very comfortable watching money trickle in and being a laughing stock in the sim world because there has been nothing in the form of new content or game changing developments. I have a great respect for the progress Scavier has been able to achieve while working solo but the time has come that LFS needs to be put in the list of games that could have been great if not led by such stubborn developers.
"We are still working towards the physics which will come before Rockingham and Scirocco. Scirocco will be free to all S1+ license holders. Then will come S3 + Rockingham."
While Oculus has better specs right now, I will gladly wait for HTC and Valve to catch up. HTC has been in the hardware game for quite some time compared to Oculus kind of appearing out of thin air. The only reason the Oculus is better speced right now is because they were the first to come out with dev kits. Now that their is competition, development on VR should start picking up speed.
@Scawen - I appreciate the direct response and honesty. I will continue to check back for updates periodically, just wish the pace was a little quicker.
Still does not appear to be 110% effort on their part. Here and there we get some small updates, but its been years since anything great has come to LFS. Yes there has been some good small patches here and there but nothing great or amazing.
In the time is has taken to get this 1 track updated, others have updated textures for multiple tracks. Yes I understand what they are doing is more complex, but how long does it really take? If someone wants to get something done, they do it and they get praised. Someone who wants to just get by and do things on their own free will gets mocked and ridiculed.
I know they each have families and lives, but at some point you have to get back to work and stop using it as an excuse to not do work.
3 Months ago, just saying. Seems to me the Devs do not really put 110% into LFS, more like 50% because there seems to be no rush on anything. Oh wait, I forgot, VATMOSS was an absolute must since it would mean no sales or new revenue but everything else can just be done when it's done.
We are closing our doors until there is an update that brings life back into the LFS community. In the mean time, we will continue to privately develop our insim in hopes that our vacation is shorter than expected.
