I say it all again:
Cover all the windows of your car, then put a camera in front of the windshield, put a 17" or 19" monitor above your wheel, and connect the camera to the monitor. Drive 5 Km, in any road or track.
Now tell me is realistic (you probably will, just make your idea prevail)
What?!
If I don't use cockpit view I will have all that advantage?!?! OMG!
(Do I have to try harder to be sarcastic?)
I'm not taking for a fact that the other views will be removed, but it's a fact that people who doesn't feel comfortable with the forced cockpit view are not allowed to race on a few servers, and on the most part of the leagues!
They all have paid for the license, just like all the others, and now just because they use a different perspective of interaction with the race track, they are excluded from a big part of LFS!
Looks like that doesn't matter to the devs...
Does the fact that we all have already paid for the S2 license counts?!
Is like if you have paid for a car, and after a while, the makers come to your house and say: From now on, you are only allowed to enter and exit your car from the passenger window. All the other windows will be closed and the doors locked permanently...
Don't actually know what a wanker is, but I doubt that's a compliment...
Anyway you'r right about your remark, but I didn't come to the forum for a while, and what do I see when I come back?
-Another idiot post about the same idiot idea of restricting LFS to a "cockpit" view only...
I don't know why,(or maybe I do) but it got me MAD! (no worries, I'm calmer now)
Please, give me a break! and put your Chip and Dale to work, will you?!
How can someone ever think using the cockpit view will make LFS more realistic?!
Do you drive a real car with NO WINDOWS, using a 17" or 19" screen with no depth sense right in front of you?!?!
Try to cover all the windows on your car, put a camera on the windshield, right in front of the driver, and then connect that camera to a 17" or 19" monitor that you will place right above the wheel.
Then, I dare you to make just 5 Km on any road with moderate traffic...
Is this clear enough for all the "LETS MAKE IT ONLY COCKPIT VIEW IN THE NAME OF REALISM" movement?!?!?!?
JESUS!!!!!!!
I'm sorry, but we have discussed (A LOT) this before, and I don't know why is it back!
I think LFS have the capabilities to do this kind of things.
So, what do you think about putting some of the best drivers together, on BL car park, make a few layouts, a skill driving contest with a few stunts (speed handbrake parking, synch driving, etc.) and share the replays here with the comunity.
NotAnIllusion is right. It works on single player only though, and the line shown is the one from the best time you have done on a given circuit with a given car.
Another option is to get a WR raf file and use it with ghostcar. (I've seen that somewhere - just search the forum) Is a good way to learn the best lines IMO.
He can be using actually his own skin, but with the same name as yours...
I explain: I think I've read somewhere that if you upload a skin named XRR_DUPONT1, and for a coincidence someone else uploads his own skin under the same name, LFSWorld doesn't keep him from doing it, and both skins are stored.
When you go online, you are using your skin and the other guy is using his, but since you have the skin in your skins folder, LFS doesn't download the other skin from LFSWorld, and applys your skin on the other car. So you see your skin in the other car...
I might of course be wrong about this, and if so, please enlight me...
Once again... what does one thing have to do with the others?!?!
We are talking about being forced to change the interface trough wich you are used to drive... not aditional features that requires no relearning whatsoever!
I wellcome damage modeling, oil and water heating, remove telepit, clutch fail from flatshift, and engine damage even more, so as all other improvements to the sim itself!
What the heck, you can even remove F9 and F10 info...
Now, about the drivig point of view I guess there's nothing more to say...
Is the interface between you and the race, and that should allways remain unchanged!
Is well shown over this days what this have caused among the comunity.
Gunn, I know we should be worried about it, because it's a common line of thinking, and if you just closely read the "patch X10" thread, and my pole's thread, and you will see that people for this option shows a point of view like: "this option will separate the simracers from the arcade racers"
That's not true, this option will separate the real harcore simracers and the other simracers, despite their skills not allowing the to race together.
Me for example, I'm a single seater driver, and I was thinking of finding time this year to get into a league for the BF1, but now I know that probably the leagues will have the fcv activated in the servers, so I will not be albe to participate, because I drive from a custom view right above the helmet (called T-bar view I think), and I just can't drive the BF1 from the default cockpit view. I can't be competitive (I'm not either way, but that's another story :razz and I can't even enjoy driving it from the CV.
edit:
And the case is, admins think they will "ellite" the ligue by enabling this option, so they will probably do it... That's too bad for me, if that happens... So I hope it will be possible to costumise the views "within some limits"
Is a little hard for me to say it but, in the beginning LFS have the virtuosity to bring a great SIMULATOR to a more vast public that all the other racing sims - pushing away people because they where too much hardcore to be enjoyable - but now it's narrowing it's target public with no need to...
Hardcore players where happy, because they already have the possibility to race in a hardcore envrinonment, and less hardcore players where happy too, because they could race in the same track with more harcore players and all have fun together in their own environment.
Now all that's about to change, because we won't be able to race together no more, despite our individual skills. We are going to be separate by the way we see the track while racing.
Not all those who are against this feature (at least as it is now) are for using chase and wheels view. Most of us just would like to use a costumized view, yet inside the car, but not the fixed cockpit view that is so uncomfortable, and fun spoiling...
That's one of my initial points, and you're proving me right - This will only divide the comunity, but don't think we all stick around...
And put one thing in your heads: The quality of a driver is not indicated by the view he uses while racing. I believe we all treat LFS as a simulation, otherwise we wouldn't be here. There's tons of racing GAMES out there, but good simulators, that's hard to find, don't you agree?
The pole was made considering the options available by the time the feature was implemented...
I sure agree there is room for aditional options, like:
c) I agree, if it's possible to adjust the view inside the car (and within a virtual cube with 1 square meter above the head position on the single seaters) - cause they have no roof ...
That's the point... If LFS have only cockpit view when I've tried it, it would occupy the same space as nkpro in my PC (0 bytes), and would cost me the same too...
