Here's hoping updated suits will accompany the patch Tweak. I had thought about this but they aren't in the CMX viewer, so makes me wonder. Even if they aren't made into LFSWorld editable skins, I suppose they could just add them to the default selection (in the 'Player' menu).
Now that we have the NH/JV BF1 and helmet liveries, will their driver suits be implemented as well? I just think the immaculate FB1 car and helmet designs will be let down by the current low-res mono-colour driver suit graphic. I think it's about time the driver suits became a higher-res skin, able to be modified and posted on LFSWorld. I can't see how this would be difficult to implement.
I could be wrong but I think Trev means LFS has been unlocked on his computer by a friend or associate. If this is true, this is indeed allowed. In the past I've organised LFS LANS with demo-licensed friends, and have been able to race them with licensed content by unlocking the game on their PCs. Then I create a new unlock code for my PC so I have my fully functional version, and they have the full S2 content but without multiplayer.
If Trev has procured this via an alternative means, then yes he should be hung, drawn and quartered. No-one steals from our Devs !!
YAY that's great .. no more spearing off the track when trying to follow someone through a corner !!
And no more pompous FO8s !!
Can't wait for the next bit of info - maybe we'll be able to throw the driver through the windshield ala FlatOut. Actually no that wouldn't be fun for anyone ... So maybe I'll just
Welcome to the community The Gooner !! Get your S2 licence to enjoy the finest racing sim there ever was ("is" I mean, and it is improving all the time).
I competed in the AAL's 3 hours of Kyoto and thought I should list a few things that could improve the endurance racing experience (was really enjoyable nonetheless, just for the record).
- option to select team mate before the race, which could make driver transfers easier (perhaps assigning a keyboard button to request/confirm swap, rather than having to open the connection list and clicking the 'T')
- all telemetary could be viewed by the spectating team mate, with the ability for this person to adjust the race strategy (basically acting as the team's engineer) Note: I'm not sure of the logistics of this, maybe too many packets will be sent across the server
- related: when adjusting race strategy, the spectating team mate should be able to see and adjust both driver and spectator strategies
- driver swaps should happen DURING the pitstop, not just after. Again, not sure of the logistics
- and the simplest yet arguably most effective improvement, being able to send 'private' messages to each other in a similar way to the current system, but whereby all other drivers can't see the messages. This could perhaps be initiated by pressing 'p' instead of 't'. I know of other methods, like teamspeak (not sure what this is), but would be good to have a simple in-game system
Just a few points to get the ball rolling, please let me know what you think, how feasible these improvements are, how they could be modified/improved, and any other endurance racing improvements you can think of. Cheers !!
Sorry floug (or anyone else) if I offended you, I didn't realise the context in which the photo was taken. If I had known, I certainly wouldn't have posted it. I just did a google search looking for images of the r8.
My preferred peripheral for motorbike sims (eg: THQs MotoGP series) is the Xbox controller!! Two joysticks, one for rider weight transfer (forward/backward)/leaning (to turn corners) and the other for acceleration and braking. One can buy Xbox USB converters ... I came across mine with my old MadCatz Xbox/PC wheel. Top stuff!
BTW, what is the story behind the screenshot ... what the devs are working on? It would be very fitting for Scawen to code a bike into the game, as that appears to be his preferred mode of transport.
Just thought I should jump on the bandwagon ... where's your helmet Scawen?
Note: If we keep manipulating Scawen's image for our own personal amusement, there's a good chance he will NEVER AGAIN post a photo of himself on this forum ... but, when in Rome ...
Btw, sorry to use someone else's graphic, but I'm at work at the moment (I would otherwise have created my own).
Seriously though, cheers for the progress report Scawen, good to hear you guys are having your well-earned break.
Android, love the garage background graphic ... could you please post that or direct me to it? Are there any other 'more suitable' backgrounds? (sorry to go off topic, but I NEED that background!)
American LeMans (ALMS) style cars, especially the Audi R8! And the cars from GTR (ain't I cheeky ) LFS will show conclusively how it's done!! But yeah, high-powered endurance cars, especially the single-seaters power houses!
"including a damage model that contorts and deforms the cars to a degree that won't fail to make you laugh (side panels are shed, bumpers are mangled and dropped and so on)"
Sounds like you've been watching a little too much tv Racer Y. Though, I guess one needs to present such an extravagant example to emphasise how pathethic the wreckers truly are ...
For a 'harsh but fair' solution, see my post 'A novel solution for discouraging wreckers'.
I have a bad night at the track every night because I'm on dial-up, but don't get me started on that (I will have cable soon).
Angst against wreckers is a commonly recurring theme on the forums, so I thought I'd address it with a solution that everyone (save for the wreckers) can enjoy!
I believe that whenever someone crashes online, LFS should send packets of information to LFS World detailing the severity of the crash and the calculated harm to the virtual driver. This information, along with the address of the 'real-life' driver, is then relayed to CRC, who promptly commission one (or several, depending on the complexity of the job) of their 'peace-enforcer' personnel to 'take care' of the situation. The enforcer arrives at the user's street address and infilcts the appropriate damage on the offender. For example, if their adventure into the rear of another car (at T1 of course) causes the front of their car to crumple, the CRC goons will break the user's legs. Or, if their car rolls several times (after destroying the leader's race on the last lap), the user will be 'placed' into a cardboard box and pushed down a flight of stairs. As soon as the photos (and stories) of the 'unfortunate' survivors flood the forum, presto, no more wreckers!
Almost forget, LFS works out who is to blame by searching the user's details for 'drift', 'noob' and 'whammo!'
