Drifting the tuned 370z is like drifting the FZR in LFS. The tyres are not right for drifting, once you are over the limit then you will reach a point of no return (just like you will find in LFS). This happens in real life too! The normal 370z will not drift very well either because there is no way to turn off the TC. The demo is purely for time trial and not for drifting or any other kind of car ballet. It's a shame that they have released it to the general public in such a limited state, as people who do not bother to read will not understand that this is purely for the GTAcademy and not exactly representative of the full game. I think the reason why it seems as if you reach the point of now return too quickly is because it can be difficult to tell whether the car has lost traction at the rear or not, so getting back on the throttle too early could mean insta-spin if the car isn't even planted to the road. I partially blame this on the cockpit view, usually I use the bonnet/roofcam and can always tell whether the car is breaking away, but then that could be just my preference and what I am used to.
I don't think it is fair to say this is a load of crap, it shows a lot of improvements along with inevitable drawbacks in such a tiny demo. Physics feel much better to me and when the game is opened up in the full version next year, I think it will feel even better. It pleases me atleast that they didn't try to dumb down the physics just for newbies to enjoy it, atleast they are trying to make this a proper sim. The intent is pleasing!
I was considering getting a 360 but decided to be patient and wait for the PS3. I do not regret my decision one bit but that does not mean to say I think that the 360 is not as good. I think they're pretty evenly matched, at the moment anyway. All down to preference and opinion etc. PC comes above all anyway!
Yes I have. FWD, RWD and AWD. Anything else ma'am?
The thing is, most drawbacks of the demo could very well be fixed in the full version. I find it interesting that a couple have nothing positive to say and only pick out the negatives, when there are likely to be quite a few in only roughly 200mb. The physics are certainly better. The feeling through my Fanatec has been improved so much and the car reacts more realistically than they did in Prologue. Other "products" might do a more realistic job, but then that's not hard if you base it on a 200mb demonstration of the improvement in driving physics. I have no particular loyalty either Danowat, 'cept perhaps for LFS and RBR (not that there is any competition for RBR anyway), but I will still call shenanigans when I sees them! I appreciate that everyone can have their own opinion though, it just seems that sometimes people only comment with only intentions on trolling. I am sure you're not one of them so I am sorry if it seemed that I directed that comment at you.
Personally I am impressed with the improvements and look forward to what they manage to do to finish the game off over the next 6 months or so. The replays look awesome and the car moves about so realistically! I spend so much time just watching replays.
Well I am pretty impressed. Better than prologue physics. The cars feel more alive and react how I would expect them to. Some people here had no intention in giving positive feedback anyway. It feels good with my Fanatec 911, FFB is great.
Much better feel than prologue. Danowat you need to try it with a wheel. Slides are very catchable as long as you are on your toes and the grip transitions are pretty realistic. I am very pleased that finally a collision with the wall does not result in all sorts of weird results. Much better collisions now. The sounds are pretty realistic too I think. They seem pretty good in my opinion, improved quite a bit anyway. Just because they are not ridiculously exaggerated like in Shift, it doesn't mean that they are unrealistic.
I'm into 6th form now so most of the tossers have been weeded out. Either dossing about doing sweet FA in college or working for their family's failing business. There are still some idiots though, I got jumped by a thug in my 6th form on the way home yesterday but last time I tried to defend myself I got into more trouble than the guy dishing it out in the first place so I just took it. Weren't too bad, just a couple of bruises here and there and a bit of a black eye. He will probably get chucked out, incidents like that are treated much more seriously once you get into voluntary education and quite a few of the teachers are sick of this particular person anyway. I expected to have a damaged "rep" at my school today for being beaten up but people seem to respect that I just let him do it and took it without retaliating. Result.
On BBC sport they reported that if Mick were to join Mercedes his salary would be worth something like £7,000,000! Even if I were going to be a backmarker for an entire season, I would take that!
Stealth is too slow and not high enough really. It's good fun while it lasts if you can be bothered to queue up for ages for a few second ride. I enjoyed it the first time but it's not really that special imo.
Air is a great ride but it's not for people looking for the biggest adrenaline pumping ride. Like you say, I think it is quite a relaxing ride. Worth waiting in line for nonetheless. I rode nemesis 6 times when I last went. That's a great ride. It goes so close to the walls and to the floor. It gathers speed so easily, the first drop isn't even that steep!
Oblivion was ok but it was just too short. I liked the feeling of freefall and it was interesting since it is quite a unique ride but waiting in line for about 3 seconds of excitement didn't really do it for me.
I didn't actually understand Hex when I first went on it. I actually thought I was going upside down... I didn't realise it was an illusion. I wondered why I wasn't falling out with only a lap bar and the blood wasn't rushing to my head.
Thank God they finally got rid of the old Corkscrew ride. That was the roughest and most boring ride I have ever been on. The teacups are more exciting and a lot more comfortable too! The new ride doesn't look that scary though to be honest. Seems like a typical PR stunt from AT. I would still give it a go if I were given the chance though.
There are actually only about 70 people working on Gran Turismo iirc. That's including people who are in charge of small things like the "music data manager" and the creator of the menu music.
