I really love the american classic full size sedan Ford Crown Victoria (INTERCEPTOR) made by Drifteris (SIMOX),
so I decided to create something similar: 1992 Chevrolet Caprice with 4 configurations.
I'm almost done with the exterior and 2 different rims.
The new LFSE hub subobj function in it's so cool.
Screenshots of the modelling process / Proof for the original work is attached bellow.
I have LFS on my PC from 8-9 years and I can say there is already an HUGE progress in past 2 years (rockingham, mods, lfseditor etc...) When the update is out this sim would be even more epic and I am so hyped about that day.
I'm sure there is a way we can help. Donations?.. Or working with you, helping with textures, modelling or something else?
Respect to all (3) devs working so many years on the best sim!
+1
It's a cool idea.
It would be cool if you can select cruise mode (ON/OFF) and you can select rpms (with mouse scroll maybe) for example 3k and every gear change executes on 3k rpms.
I found another thing: If you set your tires pressure to 0 and you make burnout until they pops - you gone 'retired' or 'takes wrong route' something like this. It's actually fun.
You are a perfectionist and I love your work. I mean retro cars are not so mainstream here, but I'm impressed of that how much time you spend on your mods and you came back to update this and become perfectly done. Respect!
SIN Cars is a Bulgarian supercar company based in Rousse, Bulgaria with centrals in England and Germany.
I am planning to make a replica of SIN R1 650
and I already sent an e-mail to SIN cars asking for help. With their data would be much easier to recreate that beauty in LFS.
One day I saw the default skins of LFS cars and I found how to make the perfect skin mappings in 1:1 proportion.
Make screenshots of all sides 2D in LFSE. Place them in PS. Export as skin. Make the cutouts. Do the mappings precisely.

Yes, that can works for off road events and will expand the horizons of the game. I can imagine nature, hills, woods, rivers, rocks, canyons.. I hope to see that stuff ingame soon or releasing the track editor for public.
@turbofan I can share with you other trick I've learned in LFSE.
I see you have complex model, so you can try to select the tris and the part (for example bumper) l.r.swap Ctrl+Shift+Left click on mouse. Then with Shift+Right click and drag you can deselect unwanted and set the group. Plus Ctrl + Left mouse click and drag over the tris I think you will make it. You can try to use levels, and if you have mappings to select piece of the part. It will be easier for you to select the groups without selecting something else.
Remember that good things take time (Sometimes the greatest artists spends years to finish their work)
If you use latest LFSE, you can select all tris and make it one group, then select pretty easy others with Ctrl + Left mouse click and drag over the tris. It's not hard at all.
Hey buddy!
I think you don't have to mess with skin_dds folder ever.
In this folder are already compressed skin files for online uses only (.DDS files).
Also there may be private skins that belongs to other players.
If you just want to paint the car, go to pits > colors > 'new colors' > select Default skin > and create new colors using the sliders.
If you want to put decals, stickers and etc.:
Your new skins should be located in LFS > data > skins. (as a .JPG files - 1024x1024 or 2048x2048)
Both - Gimp and Photoshop works for the task.
Select your vehicle in game > go to colors > click on 'generate skin template' (you will need black and white skin texture and wireframes for sure) > it's now copied on your clipboard > paste it in Gimp > create your design > save it here: LFS > data > skins as JPG (1024x1024 or 2048x2048)> use official car name XRT_name for example OR mod ID (6 digits code) slash your skin name > upload it on lfs.net > profile > car skins (to be visible online for others online) and that's it.
Captured the creation process of the LOD2. I've tried to keep the tris low as possible. Still not fully done, but it have lights and will works for now.
