I think it's because they're metric... I have a set of allen wrenches from japan , and the size 4 was prefect for the wheel's 6 bolts

Quote from M.Mos :Today i found myself having a bleeding finger. Didn't noticed when it happend, but i found out that the shifter paddels had some sharp edges. So i rub them down with sand paper. Do your wheels had that too?

Yeah it's got some rough edges from the stamping process I think.

I'm actually seriously considering removing the paddles permenantly or hooking up a more DFP-like system, since sanding the paddles down will only prevent cuts....not bruises from getting wacked by it.

Quote from mouse-user321 :Received mine this afternoon

One problem... how do i get the wheel to turn the full 900 degrees in lfs; at the moment it only turns 180 degree. I've set the 'WHEEL TURN' under option to 900 and also 900 on the 'WHEEL TURN' in the garage.

I tried setting it to 720 etc but still only 180 degrees. I remember seeing a thread about this elsewhere but can't find it now

Can anyone help?

It's in the device settings of the Logitech Profiler, where you'll find different force feedback, pedal, and wheel turn settings.

Quote from tristancliffe :As for shifter positions, I was hoping to configure a dog leg first on the h-shift to simulate the gear levers I use in competition cars. The more practice I get in shifting a racing car in the 'proper' fashion, the better I will be in real life (even if only by a small percentage).

Yeah that's what I'm thinking... probably going to have to make one out of some stock and a tap & die.

Quote from tristancliffe : Motorcycle shops (or leather jacket shops) often sell leather treatment/hide feed products, and this might be just the thing for you JollyInuit (sorry :shy. I used something similar once on my Momo Force all those years ago, and it was reasonably succesful. I say reasonably because there is no getting passed the fact that the leather is tightly bound to the wheel, so there isn't a great deal of material in which to add 'give'.

Right now, I'm using a bottle of oil that I used years ago to soften up baseball gloves... not having much luck with it, but I'm gonna give it a good overnight soak to see if it improves.

Quote from tristancliffe : Edit: Mile High Club solo division???? I daren't think what that means you did on the aeroplane, but I'm guessing it involved tissues??!?!?

Here's some pics of me messing around with the wheel so far:

http://kwazico.com/jollyeskimo/main.php/v/G25/?g2_page=4

Luckily I had set of hex keys that actually fit perfectly... the stuff I have that are made for north america don't seem to work.

The paddles have been a slight annoyance since I seem to hit my thumbs when I use them with the way that I hold the wheel. My friend also expressed concerns about getting a bad wacking on the fingers if the wheel's spinning fast and my hand was in the wrong place. Luckily the paddles are easily removable...simply take the wheel off, and unscrew the two screws that hold each shifter paddle in place.

Love the whole thing, pretty much on the same points as everyone else mentions... the only other things that I don't like in addition is the quality of the leather, and the shifter knob/stalk screw thread. I've already started treating the leather with some oil to see if I can soften it up and make it feel less....pleathery.

Another thing that I really don't like is how I can't seem to assign custom keys or commands to each shifter position... should've been simple seeing how they're all recognized as button pushes in games. This way, I'm also not able to assign the same commands for the sequential shift up/down as the paddles. Just a minor annoyance, but it would be nice to be able to do.

edit: OK I figured it out... by recording the sequential stick shift's as seperate shift up and down commands, I can program the paddles to perform the exact same command, so that the sequential and paddles now do the exact same thing. Yay for me.

Quote from Rtsbasic :The price we pay in the UK at Gameseek translates to $392 CAN inc shipping and sales tax. So don't grumble about $260

Yikes.

Talk about getting the bad end of the deal... that's pretty much what the MRSP originally was.

My bill was $270 CDN shipped to Toronto. But then I chose the cheapest shipping. Heck my bill's already paid in full, so if they cancel or do anything with my G25 all hell's gonna break loose.

Just splendid.

Too bad there isn't much video on how the wheel spins freely... the only one I've seen is a cellphone sized video of it spinning, and I could barely tell anything from it.

I love how there's absolutely no grinding noise in the video compared to DFP grinding.

Going from DFP to G25.... already put my preorder in at NCIX for $240-ish CAD

I bet you I'm gonna take the pedals apart the first week and mount them to the floor or something. They look insanely sturdy.

Quote from thisnameistaken :SO City Long Rev., the long bumpy right-hander coming down off the overpass and back up into the city. Easily the hardest corner in LFS.

that, and this one:

The weight shift going up that little chicane on aston is pretty easy to misjudge, especially with a light car...

Any Canadians who are interested in one of these might want to look at these two links:

http://www.ncix.com/products/i ... &manufacture=LOGITECH

http://www.shoprbc.com/ca/shop/product_details.php?pid=18406

If ~ $240 CAD (~ $215 USD) is going to be the wheel's actual street price when it comes out (which I believe is fairly accurate since both are reputable and unreleated e-tailers, both listing a similar price), then this is probably much more of a bargain than the initial MRSP of $299.99USD.

Yeah...and now the disconnect/lost connection to server bug has once again shown its ugly head, like one day after I reinstalled it..... reminds me of why I stopped playing, grr.

Quote from Tweaker :Nobody plays the original BF2 anymore??!?!? What are you talking about, that is still the most popular.....

Nobody plays the mods because it doesn't have ranking. Not to mention, there are loads of work in progress mods, and hardly anything new and special for anyone to play. By the time BF 2142 comes around in the Fall, everyone will be playing that.

Yeah... I don't even touch SF anymore since I can't use my L96A1 on it. I mean it's not a bad game, but I'd rather be playing vanilla BF2.

Yeah I'm still playing it...had it since it came out (stats: link). The only xpack I bought was Special Forces, didn't really feel like getting those booster packs. I play it a lot less though since it's one mother of a resource hog, and has a lot of little things that make my head spin.

The planes and helicopters definitely require a bit of skill to use effectively.... the LFS analogy works pretty well I guess . The unlocked weapons that most vets have make a big difference as well... some of them make a world of difference from the base weapons.

Not sure about the server issue because some of them have their own problems with stats reporting.

Check sites like BF2S.com and the such for lots of info about everything BF2.
