No way iRacing is near as good as LFS, at the moment. It lacks so much content, even the very basic one, that it's not even in the same league than lfs is. Only thing it comes out on top is the driving feel, which isn't all in a racing sim.
Sure it feels great to drive, but the way one can drive it is so much more arcade than LFS is right now. No engine damage to take care of, not any kind of a clutch model, barely excisting gearbox modelling. Not even fricking functional brake lights.
But then, LFS isn't that close to reality neither.
Can't remember who said this originally, but it went somewhat along the lines of "They all suck, so you just have to play the one sucking least".
Well, getting the 1st month isn't a bad idea, since you get to know what you're about to get in the package. But getting new tracks right away, I wouldn't do that.
The tracks included in the 20$ can tell you already what the game is about and what it lacks. More importantly, is it for you.
So if I was you I'd give it around a weeks time before even considering the extra material.
It drives great, but that is about the only thing it does great. As mentioned by technique, the league points haven't got any sense, you only get to race the combos they set for a week. Every new season will cost you more money to get the required car plus tracks.
And generally all the features it misses, such as dirt in tires, flags, braking lights etc. (I know all of those things are to be added, but I'm not going to keep paying and wait for them for god knows how long) won't justify the costs when I get it all from LFS, with just a slightly different driving feel.
Oooor even better, when you have your internets down and feeling like doing few laps, the whole browser start ruins that idea almost before it ever arised.
Just feels bit like lazy way of doing things to me.
But then I've no idea how much laziness that really is.
Well if anything, Ipricing has made me sure to not ever buy me a solstice.
I'll quote lefty on this one "you can't drive it, you have to navigate it"
As it acts like a boat, I find it better to start the braking smoothly unlike in lfs where you slam the brakes and gradually come off from them.
By my logics getting gently on the early braking allows the nose to dive giving the fronts more load, and this extra load prevents them from locking up so easily.
When I don't continue my subscription after this initial month, does my account get deleted or does it remain stored and the ratings and such stay as they are if I choose to re subscribe at another time?
58.186 was made by greger huttu on the skip barber's seasons first week, but I belive that wasn't with the latest build, but should give somekind of a guideline.
But then, Blue flag is just guideline and not mandatory except in F1 that I know of.
Doesn't mean that the lappee should jump away from the line standing on the brakes to let the lapper past, when the lapping car is making a move the lappee shouldn't resist tho.
What they want is my money. and how am I supposed to focus on any god damn rating when there's all three races a day I can take part in, I'm just asking. and in two of those I get taken out and for that awarded with some nice minus points too!
The game is fantastic driving wise, but they could have way gone way different routes at times.
