What real cars and sims do this? I haven't seen any. Maybe it's realistic behaviour, fair enough if it were .5mph off the speed limit, but not 3 mph...
When driving with the pit limiter on, your car will be a couple mph below the limit. I was driving the BF1 where this is very obvious, instead of holding me at 50, I was down at 47-48. I see no reason why this is like this, it certainly isn't realistic and all other sims get this right. It's been like this for as long as I can remember, and for some reason it's not been improved.
I don't think this as a cheat in the way we normally think of cheats in games/sims. This is more like an exploit of controls that the sim allows, there is nothing interfering with LFS. I think that the ability to use a button clutch should be removed, but calling something that has purposefully been put in the game a cheat is not correct.
I have used a macro tool in iRacing because it was impossible to be competitive in the old mx5 without it, but you can still be competitive in LFS without a button clutch macro.
I believe adding an easier, more streamlined way in which to enforce fixed setups could make league racing more accessible and more popular.
Setup making is a barrier to joining leagues, I am certainly not the best setup maker, and I know many others aren't so good either, we often rely on others to share. If you are part of the community this is fine, you can as team mates and friends, but if you are new, setups are more difficult to source. Fixed setup racing is attractive to new players who are learning the game and joining the community.
I think LFS' looks are more of a strong point instead of a weak point. It's not super flashy with loads of motion blur and lens flare, but it looks very real. The lighting needs improving, and some models could do with texture updates and higher detail, but these things will come. LFS looks and feels very organic, and with the new updates in the pipeline I believe it will be the most realistic looking sim there is.
There are a couple things that make LFS feel a little older. I think the website is the only .net I've ever visited. The UI, while it works amazingly and I wouldn't want to do much to change it, looks a little dated, and lacks a few features.
LFS doesn't have any official events, they work amazingly in other, larger sims where they bring massive player and viewer numbers. Something like Virtual Le Mans, or the iRacing special events that are run by the developers instead of the community. Live for Speed could hire a broadcast team like SBTV to stream the event to official social media accounts like YouTube or Twitch.
I really like the bar for clutch heat, I don't care the exact temperature, I just need to know if I need to be careful. I think engine damage is different as it isn't something that goes away, it think would be nice to make it consistent with clutch heat in the UI. Maybe if both were bars but engine damage could have the number over the bar, or alongside?
Not sure what the point of this thread is? The topic of tyre physics and the various improvements it needs/is getting has been done to death. I know there are only so many things to talk about on here but just let Scawen do his thing.
I believe that ICE cars will become much cheaper, apart from collector cars. New ICE cars will be banned in most places anyway, and a lot of people in the market for a new car will look for EV. I think the second hand market will be much cheaper because again, people buying a car will be looking for EVs.
There's always going to be a need for petrol stations, things like the trucking industry which will take much longer to convert over to EV (In a sustainable, safe way at least,) and they will still need fuel infrastructure. Not to mention that many, many people drive cars that are 10, 20+ years old, will still be creating a demand for ICE infrastructure. It may become more expensive to run ICE cars, but it's going to take 25+ years for ICE to start becoming obsolete and for infrastructure to start disappearing.
I'm very much of the opinion that cars, no matter what is used to propel them, are bad for the environment. Both in a physical climate change way and a social way. I find moving over to EVs is just moving the goal posts, there is still crazy amounts of pollution and harm done in producing and running EVs, not to mention issues with slavery and worker safety. Car dependancy alienates people, there is a reason the happiest and safest cities around the world are cities with amazing public transport, plenty of cycling infrastructure and walkable communities, and that reason is the reduced dependancy on cars.
