Quote from Victor :Hi, the host log file can be seen in the Activity tab. Though it's not available for download.

Unfortunately, the Virtual console doesn't show the whole log file but only last 2000 lines which is really not enough considering a mere user connection info takes up over 20 lines.
Quote from Victor :The allowed tracks feature isn't implemented, but I'll have a look at that. You wouldn't have to upload a file -there is no ftp access- but you could set it on the Basic settings tab.

Sounds good Smile
How to download/upload DCON files with lfs.net hosting?

I don't get it. In the Hosts page I can only access replays and layouts. How do I download or view host log file of my server? How do I upload /tracks X.txt file? FTP maybe?

Quote from Scawen :Am I right that actually this information only needs to be for the actual 'owner' rather than admins in general? By 'owner' I mean the one that started the in-game host.

Yes, I think that's fine. Thank you Smile

Is there any other way for admins to retrieve InSim port and IP of dedi server other than logging to lfs.net and checking Hosts info?

Now when I create in-game temp host for testing InSim stuff the InSim port and the IP is random every time. It's slightly annoying having to go to lfs.net to get that info.

Maybe admins could have a command that would show them a message with server's InSim port and IP?

Edit: Oops, I guess this is wrong thread, sorry Smile

Oh ok, I didn't know the button existed in LAN mode, why wasn't this also enabled for online hosts I have no idea but that still doesn't change the fact that what you are suggesting was added in 0.6W.

Quote from Tomfuel :Yes! it works when i launch a server from my local, but "options" button does not appear on our servers hosted ...

Hmm that sounds like you are talking about 0.6V, that button was added only recently in the 0.6W test patch.

That would take me about 5 lifetimes to code, thanks for sharing!

Quote from NeOn_sp :I can't find the documentation Shrug

The one that's supposed to be in the LFS Manual? I didn't find that either, I guess it doesn't actually exist yet.

I'm afraid that only means that InSim protocol is enabled on host (DCON) so InSim apps can communicate with it.

Well, we all have different opinions on what is killing LFS Smile

Quote from xspeedasx :As Victor said before the best solution for both sides is renting a cheap linux VPS and connect from there.

What is considered a cheap VPS? I currently pay 1.33€ for DCON (32 slots) + insim per month (semi annually). With lfs.net hosting that would be cca 1.16€ only for server without insim app. So even if I find VPS for 1€/month (after a quick google search I doubt I will find one that cheap) then I will still pay almost twice the price I'm paying now for server+insim. When does the "best solution for both sides" part come in?

Ok now I'm confused. So lfs.net does host Airio and Lapper. Why do these 2 apps get the privilege? It's understandable for Lapper since that's open-source.. What if we provide (privately) source codes for our apps, can they be hosted then?

He said he already uploaded a skin so clearly he is already able to use the skin upload feature (you can buy skin slots even as demo licenced which is what he did I'm assuming).

Quote from Degats :Bug:
You can't place chalk objects (maybe others too) on the ground on the crown of the roads at X=0 or Y=0.
If you place one nearby and bump the X or Y position in a way that should take it to zero, LFS gives an error "Can't move : invalid position".

Same thing happens at BL Carpark btw (bug report here).

And I have a suggestion: Enable minimap so we can see where other cars are.
CAR.lfs scripts executing too soon?
LakynVonLegendaus

I'm not sure if this qualifies as bug but if you add command '/press 3' (turn on lights) to any CAR.lfs script then it will not turn on the lights if you leave pits from garage. However, it does work if:

-you join track from spectator mode
-reset car
-restart race or start race from lobby (if your car is on track obviously)

So it seems that upon leaving pits from garage the script is executed before the car is "ready". Tested with 0.6V and 0.6W43.
Wrong max. value for 'Max cars per guest' in Host settings

In Hosting > YOUR HOSTS > Extended settings maximum value for the Max cars per guest option is 3 but that was actually increased to 32 in 0.6V.

Alright, well, I don't really understand any of that stuff but I'm gonna assume Victor knows what he's talking about Smile It's just a bit strange for me as a layman that one service has no problems hosting insim apps while other one does. But whatever, it's not even that big of a deal, I'll just have to get used to it. Thanks Smile

I know but that's not what I'm asking Smile

I was hoping I will still be able to have both server and insim app running on same machine or at least use the same service for both.
LFS.net Hosting doesn't host insim apps?
LakynVonLegendaus

I'm currently using a 3rd party service that's hosting my server along with my insim app. I have no experience with lfs.net hosting but because we will have to use it with the 6W version I'm now looking at how it works and to my surprise it seems like lfs.net doesn't host insim apps or am I wrong? If I create a temporary server I can see in the "Your hosts" page that there's a tab that says "Admin app" but that now says "Admin apps are currently disabled for host version 0.6W and above." so I can't really tell what that's for.

No I'm actually looking for a shortcut key to open the server options menu. As game options can be opened with Shift+O, is there a shortcut key for opening the server options? Went offtopic, sorry about that Smile

Quote from Scawen :Inside LFS you can click "options" in the game setup screen or in the "N" list in game.

Is there a shortcut key to open these options?

Quote from michal 1279 :Well, I will take it to the extreme, but would you approve this mod? It is legal and all original work. Kinda low quality, but that shouldn't be the deciding factor.

One could argue that if this can't be allowed then why the football mod should be allowed? Both are just silly things and have nothing to do with driving simulation but can't we have a little bit of stupid fun? (please do not remove the football Big grin)

I think if there are unsaved changes, the LFS Editor should pop a dialog box asking if user wants to save the changes before closing. The Vehicle editor and the Modeller does show a dialog when trying to exit to entry screen but if the LFS Editor app itself is in window mode and I (accidentally) hit the close button then it will just close without asking anything.

I have a couple of questions regarding the new Layout Square area (thank you very much btw!).

Is there any chance you could add mini map so the car icons are visible on the screen?

And what exactly is the difference between Wide Grid and Long Grid configurations? Both are 4km x 4km. Start grid also looks same so what am I missing? Never mind I'm just stupid. The start grid is different.
