Good news: I'm working from scratch on the Tarmac, Grass, Hill, Rocks and sand to make it on 4096 x 4096.
June 20th is the date of the release of the Fern Bay Landscapes.
I always say the same words, obviously by my poor english but in this case I go to do a effort.
I think there isn't videos as your, except some little cases. I enjoyed a lot watching your video because on each video you made you can increase the quality, the composition(I mean the syncronization, but is not that, I mean the feelings across the music in go to the heart of the espectator).
That is the point. I think you did it really and you deserve to be in the hall of fame of this forums and... well, another simulator forums, also.
I can't upload this file (21 mb only the landscape). I have a very low connection, so I will want to finish all the work to upload with partner's help.
All this time I have worked only on the landscapes. I have a trouble with the screen /monitor and I have stopped the work 3 days. So I haven't worked on the grass. Don't worry I will try another style. I agree with you and Bose.
Thank you as always, brother. I'm very interested in your opinion.
No solution. I don't know if it's my graphic card. Ati Radeon Sapphire x1550.
I read your comments and I've thought if was possible improve it and I did it.
I will publish the pics with the final landscapes tomorrow.
Thank you very much guys.
Development status of the RP 2012.
I had some troubles with the monitor/screen (yeah, with the time, everything breaks, hehehehehe).
The development is under 40% aprox.
The final product can be released on August probably.
Cheers.
EDIT:
The blurring is not necessary really. When you see a replay with a short camera angle you can see that the trees and the Background(landscape) has a different focus. That looks very unrealistic. A short camera angle is to see objects far of the user.
That is a trouble. You want to have that effect but is not a good idea in all conditions. I though about it seriously but the conclusion is that isn't realistic in all conditions. Obviously is my opinion and I'm not god but I think is best this way.
I'm glad by your suggestions, dynofiend, anyway. It is interesting read and know about all points of view.
I recognize that your arguments are very good and difficult to refute. hehehehehe.
I think that this is the most amazing thread that I have worked. I love how people participate and understand very well how it works that in real life some things.
I request, if is possible, posting links or real photos to make the necessary changes if we are agree with them.
Remember that my 60 - 80% of the development is the information before making the file.
I acknowledge that I am reluctant to change the asphalt (that gives a lot of work). But I'm open to improvement and change other aspects.
Thank you very much to all, as always.
EDIT:
1. RP 2012. Fern Bay.
2. High resolution textures for a car. Unconfirmed.
3. Miscs.
4. xxxxxxxxx
5. LFS Magazine number 2
6. If my partner confirm the information: xxxxxxxxxxxx.
I only can confirm that when Fern Bay be completed will be released instead a pack of addons.
The curb is a real photo. So, colours are correct. I haven't worked on the illumination in this case.
Yeah, LFS System again.
I will explain with more detail, replying another quote.
Thanks HonzaNB.
I see you follow the blog.
I explain each case on the blog. I'm worried because people does not read everything.
Hi, wildstyle. As I said to Bose I will explain in this post
We agree that each material has its strength.
Painting is more brittle than asphalt.
The curb is broken down more easily.
It is understood that Fern Bay has a maintenance because, besides being race track is also a runway intended for traffic due to the circuit configuration and because there are houses.
Asphalt, even new or recently in Fern Bay due to erosion and the sand, degrades colour more easily. It is true that the temperature breaks things more easily but it depends on the materials. If there are a mantenience, the tarmac looks clean and clear. The curbs looks old but not for lack of mantenience. It is a different material.
Really that brokes easily is the difference of temperature. Cold and hot conditions. That is not the case in Fern Bay (Jamaica).
I only agree with the grass. I will change it if I can do it.
If the people makes a documentation can see two things:
Curb. I always work with real life photos. So, in the beggining, I think is normal. I only work on the resolution, proportions and, in some cases, on the illumination. This is not the case of the illumination, hahaha. I think is your impresion. Anyway, I'm glad to read all kinds of suggestions.
Today I'm not sure to the release date and if it will be alone or into a pack.
Over your last suggestion._
I think really that people can change the size of the RP. The planification of the sizes doesn't be changed. I can't rework the sand(rally section) because I work from scratch in 2048 x 2048 as I said(For example: http://i43.tinypic.com/ku838.jpg I mean all that you can see in the photo. Outside of the track, the same(for example: http://i.imgur.com/zu4aq.jpg ). I hope community can understand it.
I'm not in house now. On monday I will post the requested photos.
Point of view inside of the car and the curb.
Most probably that the curb will not be changed.
The grass, well, if people wants I can change it, of course. I can't promise nothing because it's hard to make a realistic grass for Fern bay compatible with other textures. For example the grass on the hill. There will be unsolved bugs with no solution. That is important to understand it.
I was thinking to release this work when it's finished instead to release as a pack as latest works.( Revolution Pack August 28th, April 7th, June 24th).
I remember to the community, there are some files with high definition but other files, for example, the sand, outside of the track and some parts has normal resolution. Is not necessary to increase the resolution because is enough. we need to understand not all the people has the last computer of the market.
Obviously the percentage of the development status is now minor than the last week.
To the people, again, I ask: what do you think over the grass and curb?
Anyway has been noted because Bose talks about almost the same.
Thanks as always, my friend.
Or, perhaps, if you want, you can decrease the level of the mip bias and decrease the texture filter.
From this way you can win some frames.
Don't worry. We can see a solution for everybody.
Comments as yours, from Daniel and lauchan, I LOVE them, of course.
But now I'm worried by your comment.
People think the same? I need to know to make a modification or leave it as is.
About grass: I agree with lagger. I can increase the quality.
And...The grass is correct?Fern Bay is on the coast, there are a lot of sand because is pretty close of the some beaches. Wind can carry the sand everywhere. That way the grass has trouble growing by this erosion.
I'm very analytical in everything.
About the curb: I do not agree with you because it is a design from Eric Bailey. I only put the texture on the file and LFS system converts on the 3D model. The texture fills that space. Remember that, before making a texture, I do a exhaustive documentation. Viewing photos in real life I've seeing that anything is possible. There are no absolute truths. Even a bug can exists in real life (cut on a texture, for example).
Of course the opinion of the people are important for me. By this reasson I publish with regularity a lot of photos.
So I ask if people are agree with the curb and the grass.
At first I thought your comment was a joke, but I thought it interesting to clarify certain points.
I've been working freelance for eleven years. Is poorly paid. So I have a computer obsolete.
Therefore, from experience I take these precautions:
1. The hard disk is divided into two parts. One is to run the system (C). The other is to save important things (D). Such as the Revolution Pack directory is in D.
2. I take care of software maintenance such as defrag and format (in red) .. Only format a partition (C). Green.
3. Everything important is in the partition (D).
4. Defragmenting is important, so the system works properly. Access is fast because the files are sorted correctly in the disc. Formatting is done every 3 months.
5. I keep another backup in (G) (in yellow). But only the final files. PSD files are in D (red).
6. When I finish all the work, in this case the first addon, keep a backup in (E). In blue.
7. My partner is responsible for maintaining the hardware. Is made once a year and the task is to clean the CPU.
Comparing the loading time between both there are difference. But not a lot.
When the computer works with higher resolution files, the RAM "works with more effort", so frames can drop.
In my case, with my PC, there 10 frames down.
About suggestions.
I only go to work in 4096 x 4096 for the tarmac. The sand uses 2048 x 2048, but LFS uses this texture two time for the same place. Make your own experiments to understand it. I can't explain it better. I'm sorry.
The rest of the textures would be work in 2048 because is not necessary with more size, really. I mean to the bush, for example. I can make a photorealistic texture in this size.
Summarizing, The revolution Pack 2012 will get I nice quality and I think the low specs computers, as mine, can be work very fine with 60 frames per second (depends of your confguration).
About default textures of the cars:
The second addon will be a car. In the same line of the RP August 28th (FZ50).
About low poly of LFS:
I can't make anything because that violates the agreement. This is a work for Eric Bailey.
As always, thank you very much for all the comments. I read them with attention.
