I like the way the current set drive, but I'm having a hard time controlling the temperature of the front tires and the car keep kicking out under braking after driving for a while. What can I try to do?
I'm trying to setup my Driving Force Pro to work in Windows 7 64-bit, but no luck. I could not get the gas and brake pedal to work properly. I installed the Logitech Wingman software (whatever it's called) but it couldn't detect the wheel.
Can I still make it work or I need to get the G27?
I thought those trucks are spectacular to watch and there's only a handful of truck racing games of that sort. Removing the speed limiter is where the fun begins lol (in the game of course).
I like:
-physics
-continuous developement
-good variety of cars
-tracks
-can actually flip a car upside down (that's what originally brought LFS to my attention 8 years ago, but my computer was not good enough to even think of trying it)
-relatively low graphics requirement compare to today's games (I wish I have a better video card so I can get better frame rates when racing with a fairly large grid)
I don't like:
-collision detection (sometimes it's fun to see, but not at the wrong time)
-open diff may be a bit too unrealistic? (why would I get wheelspin in a XFG under WOT without even making a hard turn)
-setup units (change the units to something more understandable. For example: sway bar stiffness to something say how thick the sway bar is)
I haven't watched any sort of footage of races in Macau in years. It wasn't until recently when I realize some of the videos shows even pros can be just like league races except the tracks in LFS have tons of room and not as dramatic.
The opening of the clip looked so strange as if everyone uses similar setup that has oversteer no matter what you do. Look at 2:23, that perfectly resembles the famous demo server T1 wreck at Blackwood.
I remember the original NFS. It actually existed in the 3DO era (One of the CD-ROM 3D consoles before Playstation 1) just not as refined like the NFS SE. Now thinking back to it, the game is actually pretty fun and realistic for that time.
I have a DFP for almost a year. It's a great wheel if you don't mind not having a clutch pedal. Works fine for me.
However, I'm experiencing a problem where the wheel can suddenly lose connection to the computer and ruin some of my races. Anyone have this problem? It doesn't look like something that can be fixed.
I'm sure most of you got a story to share. Let's share your racing stories. It does not matter whether you're on a car or a kart. As long as your story involves in any vehicle that has wheels count.
I'll start first.
The car club/group I'm with held annual "Beginning of Summer" meets in the last 3 years. The 2nd and the 3rd one took place in an indoor karting track an hour away from me. I didn't go to the 3rd one though. We invited 10 other clubs in the 2nd year to join us.
The meet featured some fun mini-game events throughout the event and a feature karting race. The karting race is volountary, however. Those who would like to participate has all-day until the cut-off time to log his/her PB by purchasing as many 10-minute sessions as they want. The top 30 were chosen then to participate in the heats and the final 10 people (~3 from each heat) were in the feature race. I started 8th in the feature race after a 10-min qualifying. I gained couple places, but the tires lost grip towards the end of the race and finished in 8th overall.
I hope I'm not suggestion something very dumb, but wouldn't revert that very portion of Blackwood to something like one of the older versrions is better? Because there is no way you can cut throught the first chicane when everything around is walls (I'm pretty sure old LFSers know what I'm talking about).
