Quote from DANIEL-CRO :UDP is just raw sending data and TCP is actually checking did that data arrived to location? then in theory UDP should produce less internet traffic?

yes. in multiplayer games / iptv / internet radio / anything real-time you must use udp. otherwise whole system will have to wait for all connections to receive data. imagine that with for example WOW and thousands users online.

I know this is still about style, but seeing a login form on another site I must ask - will it be possible to implement HTTPS to LFS website? At least for login process...will make things much safer and users will feel better.

The iRacing website reminds me a typical US sports website. Lots of small boxes, small texts, headlines, charts. Ugly.

Quote from shashdev :
So, what has the website done so far? The viewer has seen the video and the title. He is interested. He wants to learn more. Now that he is ready, you take him to the main page.

I disagree a bit. What brings you to LFS website? Mostly
-you saw your friend playing it
-you saw a youtube video
-you read a review (ehm)

so you're now willing to try this game. When you open the website I think you're not interested seeing another video anymore. Only if that video provides you more information but I think you meant that video to be some kind of generic LFS racing video showcase, which our guy already seen somewhere else. If the video explains physics a bit in depth, or handlng a car, that could do it and that may be interested for this visitor as he can see that LFS is serious business.

Otherwise I would prefer screenshots or maybe 5sec flash/html5 videos showing some interesting stuff from the game, like something that makes you say "wow this game looks great". For example a video of car racing around the circuit is not very interesting. There's free game on Steam that does the same stuff. But showing a bit of race with 24 GTR cars or slipstream overtaking or tyre deformation is much more interesting.

It's my opinion and perhaps I'm wrong and people really want to see the same stuff all around the web.

Quote from shashdev :
Therefore, the front page shouldn't be about the news. It should be listing what all the game has. List about the simulation, the cars, the tracks. Think about making it like the "What is LFS" page on the current website.

Yes. But also - it's good to mention somewhere - for example in the footer the last update date.

Added Ipad versions, one more minimal and one containing more functions.

It doesn't have to be -exactly- metro style. I also like the idea posted here:

http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=1753572#post1753572

With right combination of metro tyles + large fonts/simlpe graphs and tables you can achieve excellent website providing very rich information in very simple form.

I understand you want to stick to UI as a desktop interface but you don't need it with windows with min/max/close buttons, menu file, edit, etc...

By avoiding confusion with MS website you can simply forget about bright contrast colours used in default metro.

Also GitHub for Win is kind of metro app but you can definitely say it's not MS application. simple as that

imho, lfsw has one of the ugliest UI I've seen. reminds me Solaris in my uni.

I'm +1 for metro style, it's very good for app-styled websites, it's very easy to read and very simple, that's what you're aiming for. You go to LFSW to get some info, see graphs, tables, join hosts...metro would deliver very simple way to show these data.

Victor, great idea. But what exactly do you expect from people? Design mockups? Or just ideas? HTML code? Do you want to rebuild all LFS sites, or just add/remove some bits?

As mentioned before - I'd also go for Palemoon. I was using nightly Firefox for very long time, but it started to by painful experience, then I switched to Aurora, after few months back to nightly and then I decided to stop this experimenting and moved to Palemoon, which, in version 15 is a lot faster for me (not only my feeling) than any version of Firefox (release, beta, aurora, nightly).

I was trying to move on to Iron (shit-free version of Chrome) many times, but always ended up on Firefox again. Chrome is just way too simple and dumb. I must say that Chrome is more responsive and the UI is smoother than Firefox, but comparing to Palemoon it could be almost the same.

Quote from NunoMike :I'm not that drastic. What I think is that people should be aware of their capabilities and know when they can keep up with what the community expects from them or not.

LFS is developed buy three brilliant guys who did a great sim on their own. Although, they proposed to their costumers to do something they are not able to achieve, for what ever reason.

Mine point of view was as a customer's, yours is as a LFS player.

When I meet my potential customers, I can't tell them to wait and I let them know when it's finished. They will choose someone else, who can deliver, or at least LET THEM KNOW how's it going. And they're willing to pay more to have things done in the right time.
If I tell them "I'm sorry, it will take some time, you know, there's only 3 of us and there's lots of things to do, you just have to wait and it will be done when it's done. Don't expect any email from me in next 4 years." you think they will wait?

LFS devs can afford this approach even when it's rude and arrogant towards the players. There's strong player base in this community, which gives hope to everyone else. That's why devs can see they can treat players however they want, cos they know people will always come back.

who cares how many developers? who cares if you have family? youre doing business. if you fail, its your fault, you should have hired more developers. you didn't want more? so dont be surprised your product is not selling and you dont have players.
