I think we should come up with a new name for the seasoned players. Something that's mildly insulting, but not blatantly insulting. I think "jaded ****s" is probably appropriate.

But then that would assume that all seasoned players have the same attitude, which I know they don't.

On the whole my experience so far with the LFS community has been positive, even if short. Yeah, every now and then I get wrecked by another completely clueless new driver who does not yet understand that we aren't playing bumper cars. But more often than not I encounter a complete douchebag of a fast driver who thinks he owns the track and has no problem with spouting out insults over chat in the form of "BLUE FLAG MOVE OVER MORON" or "haha, look at all those Disqualifications, you f***ing N00BS!!!"

Quote from geeman1 :Locked diff is not unrealistic, it's the other things that make it abuseable.

What are those things?

To make a car with direct drive change directions one of the tires must lose traction and slide. Does this happen in the game?

I haven't experienced it thus far in the game myself, but it sounds like the locked diff thing is a good bit unrealistic... it shouldn't be good for handling on a paved surface, at all.

I'm pretty neutral on the subject. I enjoy a good tail out powerslide in my personal car as much as any blue blooded car enthusiast... but I can't take it seriously enough that I would modify the suspension to do it "better" or longer.

As far as LFS is concerned, if it's how you enjoy using the software you purchased, have fun!

If you were the type to send out the "BLUE FLAG GET OUT OF MY WAY" type message how would you feel if somebody responded with...

"It is your responsibility to make a clean pass. I'm not pulling over, but I won't make it difficult."

Well, I'm a "noob" but there are points where I do wonder what other people are thinking. Last night going into turn one a "competitor" made no attempt to even slow down. When he went flying past me into a bunch of cars it was like watching a bowling ball take down a bunch of pins.

Then after another start I got knocked out of a race when the driver behind me wasn't paying attention to the fact that I was trying to slow down. I guess the best way to take turn one on Blackwood is with your foot on the accelerator? Don't even lift?

I'm not perfect... as I make my own mistakes. But it sure is annoying to be taken out at the very first turn and having to wait 5-10 minutes for a restart.

Like a broken record...

If I see a blue flag, and the person behind me is on the same lap I'm going to make it as hard as possible for them to get past me. If I'm being lapped, I'll hold my line and the responsibility to pull off a safe pass in on them.

If I jumped in on a race half way through I'll put my car into a wall (if that's what it takes) to avoid disturbing the competition.

New player here... I've spent a little time playing at a friend's house and I finally got around to setting up my wheel/pedals here at home.

I love the game. As somebody who spends time driving his personal car around race tracks the only drawback I see to this game is the lack of real race tracks. Hopefully some day that'll be fixed.
