iRacing's cars are a bit of a hit and miss. The Mustang on OTM was fantastic. The V8SC is good. Those are are the only car I feel like they are "realistic" in the game.
Just for discussion sake, why not a second hand S2000?
I have never driven a GT86 (BR-Z or whatever they call it in your country), or a S2000 for that matter. But why not S2000? I have always loved the way they look, plus it's a convertible with an amazing engine.
Given rF2 is still in WIP, so nothing is set in stone. But for me, rF2 just feels the entire physics engine is off. I can't feel the grip, nor can I predict what the car is doing. Normally I can adapt to the cars in a few laps, but in rF2 i just couldn't get used to it :S
I bought Rf2 since all the pre-release physics videos looks quite good. But after a few laps, I stopped playing it entirely. It has that same weird feeling I got from rfactor 1. I didn't like it at all. and the physics doesn't feel real to me. For me, even pCARS is better than rFactor 2.
That game is seriously underrated. I played their Jurassic Park game and that was complete rubbish. But to my surprise the Walking Dead is actually a fantastic game.
Have anyone tried the new V8SC yet? It's actually a pretty decent improvement over the OTM. The default (baseline) setup is still really shit, but I used the rough track setup and it was actually much better. I was able to floor the throttle on corner exit without spinning out like it used to. Not bad I have to say.
Is this Sam Michael's area of control? If it is, then McLaren needs to fire that freaking guy. Ever since he came to the team, the pit crew has been making so many silly mistakes. A whole five tenth quicker but can't afford that little bit more fuel?! WTF
My thought exactly when I read it. Either they worded it very poorly, or they just set a limit for the tire temperature instead of fixing WHY it was exceeding that limit in the first place.
I have a feeling it is the latter.
What's wrong with the Civic? It's a proper touring car.
What happened to Holden this year? Last year they were pretty much dominating, but this year Holden is nowhere to be seen except Team Vodafone and Tender.
I only had time to try out the Zonda and the FFB is really weak. Is it just the Zonda? or are all the cars like that?
Anyway, the Zonda was great fun. Just like Clarkson said on Top Gear, the Zonda R is actually incredibly easy to drive, tons of grip under braking and cornering. You just chuck it into a corner and it sticks, I am liking it so far.
Actually after they updated the torque curve for the V8 it is actually not too bad. The car used to spin out at second or even third gear whenever you go above 6000 rpm. But now it's actually kinda drivable. I softened the rear ARB and the rear damping, and it's actually not too bad. At least I could do some consistent laps, although I am still very cautious at corner exit. It still takes a bit of bravery to go full throttle when the car is not completely straight.
But now the rear is (kinda) sticking, another flaw of the V8 is showing up. The lack of front end grip. It understeers, a lot. Maybe it's my setup, but I honestly doubt it.
I don't know enough about car dynamics to complain about a specific issue, but the biggest problems I have with iRacing are that the cars aren't very predictable, most of them are horrible under braking, and the snap oversteer at low speed.
Usually with most sims, (LFS and pCARS for example) after a dozen or two laps I would be confident enough to actually push the car to the limit (well i try to at least) and do a few fast laps, but in iRacing even after a whole afternoon of practice laps, I still don't feel confident enough to push the car at all. I always feel like I am tip-toeing around the corners, and it's not a very satisfying feeling.
The funny thing is the only car I like in iRacing at the moment, is the Mustang. You can push it under brakes and at corner exit, which most of the cars can't do.
