It´s a better deal still... Same price but a new wheel with all the upgrades .
I would jump on it if it wasn´t I have my sights on the non official maybe, only in my dreams Fanatec standalone FFB wheel lol. But well it can for sure take some time before that arrives and I don´t want to be stuck with the G25 until then... the wheel that is the nixim modded pedals I can´t see is going anywhere...
However since I am planning on getting a PS 3 I would be limited to only the G25 if I just get a standalone wheel. Since I doubt the PS 3 supports multiple controllers simultaneously. Tough choice. If it wasn´t for me spending a fortune on flight sim addons lately I would jump on the deal.
Could of course use my current wheel but well I don´t think I will manage to get the pedals assembled again and well not sure with those pedals if I wouldn´t preferr the G25 anyway... I need the new stiffer brake with longer travel, and firmer throttle and heavier base among other things
There is no wait and see because we can use this offer in one week if I understood it correctly and then it´s gone . But I will probably take it just to see how it´s ... I think there is a reason why I currently have 4 wheels in my possession and soon perhaps five...
TrackIR 3 PRO will do you fine probably... You get almost the same performance as the TrackIR 4 PRO. TrackIR 4 PRO is slightly more responsive but well I wouldn´t call my upgrade from 3 PRO to be the best bang for the buck ever lol. Anyway don´t even look for web cam solutions or other cheaper alternatives... These products don´t get obsolete like CPU and video cards do so it´s not that big of an investment really.
In racing games you will hardly be faster with it but it increases the immersion and I feel more confident racing with other cars beside me. It also makes the cockpits so much more real and living.
in flight sims like IL 2 you are at a disadvantage in dog fights if you don´t have TrackIR. SA is key when fighting in 3D space. And again it increases the immersion here too. If you are into civil flight sims like FS 2004 or FSX it´s quite awkward enjoying the scenery through a pov-hat even if that works of course.
So for flight sims it´s absolutely crucial. For racing sims I really don´t want to race without it. Especially since I create my own Geforces which is quite cool. So remember if you get the TrackIR 3 PRO make sure you got one with the vector clip or buy one separately later on you will want it If you don´t use a headset you can use the clip for that if you have vanity or what it´s called
can be hard since no other logitech wheels have a 3 pedal setup... It needs to be identified as a G25 if so. But what wheel do you got that is better then the G25 .
In PC sims this is no problem you can use more then one controller at the same time. G25 pedals is great you can modify them with the nixim progressive brake mod and you do get as good or better then those 4-500$ after market pedals . Minus the adjustability of course.
lol are you like me that you can´t drive with the G25 either
I did attempt to opening mine up but it´s not built for it had no clip that made it possible so had to forget about that .
I do have some of these options though on mine it´s minor... generally recenters 2 numbers to the right (doesn´t really matter). A bit worse is though the travel is not entirely linear due to the centering issues I suspect... Luckily you don´t hardly ever use max lock but needs to be fixed of course
the thrustmaster is generally better rated by the community then the MOMO Racing but it had some problems which I don´t remember right now...
the old DFP is impossible to beat for bang for the buck. 50 buck or what it´s hard to beat it. The new GT doesn´t seem to be improved much... It seem to have the G25 wheel shape which is worse then the DFP IMO. The internals from what I hear at simracingtonight is more towards the G25 though so it´s not just a DFP after all . Pedals though is exactly the same. But it´s three times the money but haven´t tried it maybe worth it
Biggest improvement with the G25 over their previous wheels is the pedals. The force feedback and feel is both better or worse...
But well not much more to choose from then logitech and thrustmaster at price points below the G25.
To early to tell depends on how much the pedals is improved with the new heavier base, longer brake travel, stiffer spring etc or what more is developed on them.. And if all issues is fixed of course Risk is much of this will be sold as addons so a bit more then 40$... But then the G25 had a much higher retail price then what they where actually sold for...
I doubt the pedals will reach the quality of the G25 though.
Wheel is for sure better already but there is some fixes needed for sure... Wireless too I don´t trust it at hundred percent if you are into serious league racing.
But well personally for me I have a hard time racing with the G25 wheel and an equal hard time racing with the Fanatec pedals so don´t know what to say...
What I plan to do is keep my G25 and then buy the ev stand alone high end Fanatec wheel or the Frex
Otherwise since the pedals is what matters in racing simulations if you want to be really competitive and don´t plan on 3rd party pedals, and can live with sloppy feel. (which you may not even notice if you don´t drive the 911 the G25 will do you good with a bit lower price tag.
posted this in another forum but this self centering is there any racing game where the wheel doesn´t self center? I hope this is fixed soon to really see how the force feedback is on this wheel
Or is it supposed to be like this since you are driving most of the time anyway and have some centering force acting on the wheel?
Teedot I tried the same now was the throttle potentiometer loose for you? It was loose for me and I had to hold it in place when mounting the pedals... Of course the potentiometre wasn´t in the right position so I need to reposition them again... But I can´t see how these pedals will hold the calibration when they are fitted so loose... Only supported by the top cover... Was surprised how small they are the pots on the MOMO Force red was 2-3 times the size.
Gonna have to recalibrate them since now I have a bit of brake, 60 % throttle and no clutch lol.
At least with the G25 and the DFP the force feedback gets weaker the more steeering lock you use. May try using something more realistic like 360/400? And of course since you always have some steering force on the 911 wheel it makes the small clues harder to feel since the G25 has no resistance at all often
As for cerbs I felt the same thing in Race 07 but then I ran GT Legends yesterday and then the curbs felt pretty much like the G25 in Race 07 so it is capable of produce those rapid cerb rumbles it seems. For sure it feels like it´s a fraction slower but the force is there in GT Legends at least...
Will have to try the G25 there as well. As for profiles the Act Labs profile felt better then the momo force on the 911
I guess people want the already better ffb even better... I do agree that is not priority one it´s to get the pedals up to the same standard since it´s quite obvious it´s the G25 buyers and the feature PS 3 G25 that needs to be convinced to buy the 911 instead
As for easier parrying slides in the G25 well it´s easier if you have no resistance to make faster adjustments. Apart from being more used to it having it all in your muscle memory I think that is the reason here... If you have to fight the wheel a bit you are generally slower but I trade the much better feel and realism of the wheel and it´s force feedback over "speed" all the time.
It´s not only negative because it really forces you to focus more on being smooth... I overdrive less using the 911 then the G25 and I am still matching the times with it despite for some reason the steering force in Race 07 seem to be the strongest of all the sims I have tried
