Have you changed the Rev Limit number? It seems to default to 99000 RPM for me on every car when first used. I had a problem where nothing happened but the program worked, I then realized the cars don't rev to 99000 and it was a simple solution by changing the number.
Scawen, I had a go at updating the XRG picture for the car selection screen (data\pic\x_XRG.jpg). If you think it's usable feel free to use it. It was a swine getting the angle right but it think it looks OK. I didn't bother with the XRT because the wheel difference is barely recognizable with the size of the pictures.
Also, I know you say patch Z is close but the back of the front seats in the XRG and XRT still have no texture (see pics). It looks a bit weird and considering the XFG back of front seats have textures and look great it seems wrong the XR road cars are just backed with black.
Will these be done in time for patch Z or for a future patch? A frivolous bug but a shame when the rest of it looks beautiful. Thanks.
BTW, the thumbnail pictures in the car selection screen do not show the new wheels (data/pic/x_XRG.jpg for example)
Also a little suggestion regarding the rear view mirror location on the XFG. From cockpit view the mirror looks as if it's in the centre of the windscreen however in shift-u it looks fine. Moving the mirror half way up in the big gap would be perfect. Maybe a spinoff thread to discuss this?
Using the company card to reimburse yourself would lead to more problems over in the UK and so I wouldn't advise doing that even though it is a reasonable idea to think, however legally it could land you in shit. I don't study foreign laws so it could be different...
As samjh says above ^^
Now, seeing as you asked "what would you do...?"
What I would do in that situation is first initiate verbal communication and find out what your current position is.
If that fails then I would proceed in writing allowing a "reasonable" amount of time for a response (14 days is reasonable) after which if the response is not satisfactory or maybe a complete lack of response I will follow up with a second letter - a letter before action - giving 7 days informing them I will initiate a small claim in the county court to recover all losses, and to seek an additional award for distress and inconvience together with legal expenses.
In my letters I would cite any relevant case law or legislation that would help my case.
My personal actions aside, I agree with the other responses - seek professional advice - proceeding without could land you deeper in shit and cost more than what you have already lost.
[edit] Do not take the money out of petty cash - initiate communication with the owner and then recover your losses legally. Consult a lawyer. [/edit]
#1600 isn't too bad for a 18 year old in a Nova. I paid near on #1800 in a 1.1 Metro when I was 18 and that was the cheapest I could find. As people say, it's the age, gender, location and car (also age of car and safety features - older cars tend to have less safety features) that makes up the premium.
It's even worse that my insurance company will no longer insure me on my project car (1988 Toyota Celica) until I'm 25, but a year or so ago they would give me quotes for that car, although bloody expensive ones.
I have noticed that when I was between 18-21 I could get quotes for fairly high powered vehicles at extremely high prices if I wanted, but now I've got full No-Claims bonus (well 5 years) most of these companies will no longer give me quotes until I'm 25. Seems like a money grabbing thing really, willing to insure for a stupidly high cost and then refuse insurance when there's no money in it for them.
I live in Cornwall now and insurance is nearly #100 cheaper than up in Nottingham. It's crazy. And whats worse, when I renewed my insurance this year, I could not find one company that would accept 5 years NCB without "written proof", although they all would gladly accept 4 years NCB without proof and charge me that bit extra!!
I'll leave you with this I found posted by someone on Usenet; it's about insurance.
horrgakx, have you tried redownloading the patch? Also does the patch file have the usual black and white 7z logo? Normally when you get a dos box flash up and disappear means that the downloaded file went wrong somewhere.
Truro is a pretty lively town compared to everywhere else in Cornwall
I can't give much suggestions because I find most places are very similar down there, however don't bother with Redruth or Camborne.
Actually thinking about it, Falmouth is a nice place and theres a lovely pasty shop there.
I don't know if this was server specific (usually theres a button) and no one on the server LTC is using Y19 apparently. Also excuse me if my technical mumbo jumbo is incorrect.
On joining the server it displays a InSim? welcome message, with rules etc and normally (pre Y19) a button to click OK which then removes the message.
I joined and found that, 1 there was no button displayed, and 2 I had no mouse cursor while the message is displayed. Clicking ESC to bring up the menu (it gave me mouse back) I could click Join and join fine but the message would remain on the screen with no way to remove it.
I need someone to confirm/help because I don't know what I'm talking about.
I tried rejoining the LTC server a few times but it doesn't display the welcome message anymore...
* I'm finding it hard to find a server which displays a message on load - CLC has one but I have mouse and can click the button (im sure CTRA had one but it doesn't show a message so can't test )*
*I'm thinking someone is toying with me, but that could just be my paranoia*
Congratulations Mc21.
I got an email back yesterday but said I live too far away for him to setup a 1st interview - which is true, where I'm currently located down in Cornwall it's about 5 hours economical drive. He gave me some suggestions for helping me get into the industry though and offered more help if I need it - nice bloke that Jeff.
I tried that, and multiple combinations of calibrate-lock, lock-calibrate etc etc. This was in patch X but I don't know if that would make a difference. I tried DXtweak and IIRC the same sort of thing happened. I gave up in the end and I don't have much problem shifting . . . most of the time . . . *thinking of excuses* . . . ermm only when my legs start aching for example
Thanks for your help though.
From within LFS? I tried that a while back and it worked for a bit but would reset its self back to the original full distance of travel upon restarting LFS.
OT: I sometimes wonder if South City is really modeled on a English town. There's no pot-holes, incomplete road works or speed cameras.
And yes, more bumpy tracks!
Back OT. I have nothing really to add that hasn't already been said. Take it slowly and carefully and gradually increase speed. When you become aware of where all the bumps are, go for it! Practice practice practice . . . and so on.
No problems with my G25 yet. The shifter is a little flimsy like people say but just treat it carefully and use it softly and should hopefully last. I'm worried that something will break just after the warranty expires. . .
I've seen this done with self extracting zips before. Pop up a dialog box with instructions. This would be a good compromise for providing instructions to some and also keeping file size down and not doubling the server space required to host the installer.
[edit] Ah 7-Zip. I don't know if it's possible with that. The ones I've seen it done with were the WinZip® self extractors [/edit]
As much as this is pointless I still think it would be a good idea. Have a choice between the self extracting zip or a installer version. What you have to keep in mind is that not everyone is as smart as some of the people here.
Some people do have difficulties keeping their files organised especially when programs come in self extracting files with default locations set to temp or desktop. I've seen some peoples desktops completely filled with applications because they, 1 don't know what they are doing, and 2 because they extracted the files to the default location.
Some of the walls in South City are still not detecting collisions when Hot lapping. Some walls detect minor scrapes, others don't detect even high speed collisions.
So far I've tried both SO sprint 1 and 2 and both reversed.
I thought of doing something similar if I decide to make a cockpit. I would water cool my system and somehow channel the hot air through the heaters but have a valve so I can change to ambient air for the summer.
Rotatox. Nice looking cockpit, good job! Does it have a working handbrake and is the seat on rails for adjustability? It's a shame about the cost of getting the gauges working.
This is quite interesting seeing what crazy stuff comes up.
Here's mine. I have no decent graphics application or fonts on this computer so it looks a bit boggy.
If I had to give this a genre, from the names I got I would have to say Death Metal.
