I've played this game. As far as I remember, it was once an open source game, I'll see if I can find it.
It sucked so bad, seriously...

Edit: That was easy, it's the same guy who made it!

How did it even get to this argument Are we arguing whether an engine can run without enough battery power (or a battery at all), or without electrical power? Because conventional gasoline powered engines obviously won't run without any electrical power. But why is this even an issue? Obviously I began explaining the workings of a generator because it seemed to be about the battery dying.

If the argument is about whether an engine would die if the battery died - well, it MIGHT not if it was designed with a magneto driven by the engine. Or it might, if this magneto doesn't supply enough power to the ignition anyway. End of story

Really?

It's quite basic, it's called induction. A magnet spins in a coil which creates electricity from kinetic energy. When the engine is started by manual cranking, it can supply that kinetic energy to the magneto to continue operation. This can easily generate 12v which is what the ignition coil wants.

Obviously this actually requires a manual movement to get it started.

Quote from ajp71 :That's great... but you're still talking nonsense, how then in your experience can a spark plug function without electricity or are you just typing drivel without thinking as usual?

A magneto? It's not functioning without electricity, but it is functioning without a battery. Or does your lawn mower have a battery :P

I'd give you tips for Denmark, but I have no idea what you want to see
It's really just the usual stuff, in Copenhagen or any other big city like Roskilde or Odense you won't have any trouble finding bars or night clubs

Are you kidding me? If you don't like Microsofts product, don't pay for it. That's how capitalism works. Apparently quite a few people happily pay for their service, no matter how much of a ripoff it is.

Sony by far exceeds this. What they're doing and have previously done simply isn't acceptable.

Quote from bunder9999 :wouldn't it be more economical to just put your foot on the clutch the instant you know you need to slow down, and brake it out? i know "they" tell you not to do that because you might need engine power to avoid an accident, but i don't see the difference between taking your foot off the brake and taking your foot off the clutch...

The point is that, with newer cars, it's more economical to engine brake as no fuel is injected. If you depress the clutch, fuel will have to be injected to keep the engine idling.

I dug through a stack of books and found these neat figures in Internal Combustion Engine Fundamentals by Heywood.

It shows that throttle position is the limiting factor for air flow with an intake manifold pressure < 40 cmHg. Limiting the air flow too greatly obviously restricts efficiency.

In the other figure, turbulent flow is shown especially at low throttle openings.
Quote :Except at or close to wide-open throttle, the throttle provides the minimum flow
area in the entire intake system. Under typical road-load conditions, more than
90 percent of the total pressure loss occurs across the throttle plate.

Obviously it's still not that simple, WOT will most likely not result in the best fuel efficiency. But low throttle positions are bad when accelerating.

Pretty much as what has been mentioned, acceleration is mostly what uses fuel. Accelerate swiftly with moderate throttle, then cruise at the lowest possible RPM with very little throttle.

Closed throttle positions are very inefficient for accelerating due to turbulence. Not much of an issue at cruise.

Kind of weird rhetoric in that post, I guess that's expected. Makes some good points nonetheless. God damn Obama (but bless America?)

Everything can't be solved without violence. Disagreements can't always be solved because people will cling to a belief way beyond reasoning. So if we agree that disagreements HAVE to be solved, we resort to violence.
