Quote from AndroidXP :Can you maybe try to show us a replay where that odd feeling FFB happens, and then let the wheel go so we can see what it does? Currently I'm having a very hard time understanding what actually your problem is, and short of posting a video this might give us a hint on what's wrong (if there is something wrong).

OK I made a video about this, it's really difficult to describe in words. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqUmciKFdtQ

I had a Polycom Communicator microphone recording the noise, you see it next to G25. First 20 seconds in the clip is with FFB at 30% and the last 20 seconds at 100%. With FFB 30% the sound/noise is normal that I think it should be with 100% as well.

So what do you think? I think I'll call Logitech tomorrow anyways.

Quote from Jakg :i have LFS set to 115% and Windows set to 101%, it feels so good i don't want to change

My G25 would gives me totally grazy feedback with that high ffb in LFS. Could you please check http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=25252 and tell me if you don't get anything like what I describe in that thread?

Quote from 510N3D :why do you use wheel turn compensation? zThis gives at least to me a rly strange feeling and im using almost the same settings like you except for the FFB in-game. Im at 30 and i wonder how you manage to drive with 100 or in this case, 201 alltogehter. Thats way to much and maybe the reason your wheel is damaged now? Just a thought.

Edit: before calling logitech try this: turn off wtc and use like 30% FF in game. Everytime i have problems with my wheel i do this: unplug the wheel (wait for the usb sound) then i plug it in again and just in case lfs is still running i hit shift+c + maxing out every axis (wheel & pedals).

To be honest I do not know what the wtc is doing, so I guess I've had it there somewhere in the middle. Now it's 0. FFB was 100 for the test only, I've used about 50 and have had the same problem with that value. Also I had FFB at 100 because I thought it might have been a default value which should work.

But, now with FFB at 30 I don't feel that problem, so I could say I am happy for how the wheel works.

So can you please try with higher FFB settings and tell if you felt anything that reminds of my description? If you don't have it, then I guess I'd better call Logitech anyways.

Thanks
G25 strange ffb behaviour when I turn

Hello. I've recently felt that my G25 gives me odd force feedbacks when I turn the wheel. It feels like I was driving without tyres, just on bare rims, or like if the suspension and shocks were fully compressed and the bottom of the car would be hitting the road. It's a pulsating feeling, also quite a noisy. It disturbs so much that I just have to stop playing. I plugged in my old black Momo, and used same ffb settings in Windows and LFS, but it gave me normal ffb.

My Windows settings are the usual:
overall: 101%
spring: 0%
damper: 0%
centrering spring enabled and 0%

LFS:
wheel turn compensation: 0.50
ffb 100

Car that I tested to compare G25 and Momo was RB4 on FE Club with RACE_S settings. I also tested the G25 with extremely soft suspension and highest ride height, and the problem remained, though much milder.

My G25 drivers are version 5.0.182.0

Any ideas before I call Logitech support?

could try that sometime. i have a cockpit with g25 so pretty often my friends like to try it a bit. something like cmr could offer them more instant pleasure than lfs, thats one reason i have been looking to other titles as well.

Thanks Kalev. Oh what memories this brings up. That's exactly what I meant. It was the first game I started playing with a wheel. Perhaps the coming CMR DIRT will offer this game type again. I've got to put some more effort into finding that cmr2 cd...

Quote from ajp71 :V Rally, Rallisport challenge, they're both arcadey but if CMR doesn't bother you nothing will

cmr2 was at least fun, though arcadey. but i've obviously not missed any great titles recently, if these are what there are. flatout would have been great if the publisher had not demanded devs to spoil the physics simulation and controls, they wanted them to be more arcade, when the devs actually had improved the physics model from the rally trophy.

Quote from Dajmin :I just checked. CMR04 does have multiplayer, but it comes in two flavours - the first is running stages one at a time, a la real rally. The other is simultaneous racing, but you're only against ghosts of each other, so no collisions, a la Trackmania.

So now you know

thanks. so it was not quite like in cmr2 where you could race against AIs with collision on. how about cmr2005? perhaps in LFS after a few years..
cmr2 arcade mode... another game with that mode?

Do you remember Colin McRae with the arcade mode. If I recall correctly you could compete agains 6 (?) AI cars in 6 (?) tracks. That was lots of fun back then. I was about to install the game again, but could not find the CD.

Does newer CMR editions have this mode? Or what other rally games there are where you can have fun against AI cars. I remember Rally Trophy, but I did not like it. Then Flatout series was too much arcade style, not really fun to drive anymore.

because I'm at work and there's not so much to do. and because I don't have much time for racing, so I'll at least entertain my self reading forums.

Quote from Gentlefoot :
If you are ranked outside the top 8 drivers you can challenge up to 5 places above you. However, if you are ranked 8 or higher you can only challenge up to 2 drivers above you.

Seems like a simple solution.

If I was in a 9th position could I then challenge the player in the 4th position? A player in the 8th position could not.

Hopefully I'll find time participating to this later on..

Well this program (Quicksoundswitch) actually solved the issue until I recently installed a Polycom Communicator into my system. It is a usb device with audio capabilities, both speaker and mic. Unfortunately after installing this the Quicksoundswitch does not work anymore, I mean I can choose any other audio device like before, but it only changes in the user interface, not in Windows audio properties.

So I would still like my original suggestion be implemented in LFS some time.

So we got fov 160 with W21 patch. How does it look like with three monitors? I would like to see a screenshot.

I've had that with some other projector, and it was a fan failure.

From the 4100MP manual:
http://www.hollandsebeamerverhuur.nl/manual4100/install.htm
"If the TEMP light is blinking orange and the LCD display indicates a fan failure, a projector fan has failed and the projector will automatically shut down. If this problem persists, contact Dell."

I'll try to download again LFS and make a fresh installation ...

Most propably reinstalling LFS wont help.

The root of your problems seems to be in that you have a virtual resolution that is higher than the actual resolution of the screen. With some graphics drivers it is possible to set very high (like 1600x1200) resolutions even if your screen would show only 1024x768. With a higher virtual resolution Windows would just show 1024x768 at a time, but would you let scroll to see the who le picture.

I think you should check Windows resolution once more, and set it to your monitors native resolution, and then use that in LFS as well. If it was not this, then I would bet you find something in BIOS that could help.

Quote from keithano :It's certainly a nice idea. However, some really good racers should help or just a subjective personal guide will be written

Well it is exactly those rudely subjective articles that I like most, since they shed a light upon the drivers way to think and understanding of the driving. If that driver is experienced and even succesfull, then it must have some value, and give some learning points for less experienced drivers. Add a few other opinions of the same matter and you have a nice soup.

My learning process goes from having a theory, practicing it, understanding the theory better, getting more out of practice sessions, and gradually starting to master the skill. And with driving there are so many skills to learn, and you simultaneously push your skills further away in all fronts, some skills maturing faster, some slower. During this process it helps immensely lot if you get some good help from others.

So another +1 for these guides.

Quote from danowat :It's not a track "map" as such, but I wrote this some time ago, I have been toying with the idea of doing some more..........would there be any interest I wonder............

http://www.esl.eu/uk/lfs/news/22170/

That was nice to read, something to think of when going to FE green next time. Certainly useful for beginners like me. How do I navigate to that article from the main page? I tried but could not find there. I was just wondering if there are more of those.

Have you been to Trackpedia? (example from there: http://trackpedia.com/wiki/Road_America) I wonder if they would accept LFS tracks there. A track guide with google videos would be great.
Track Maps for posters and track notes?
romus74

Do we have track map pictures that we could print out in A3/A2 size and use for posters? Those could be like huge screenshots of the track in he 2D view. Time for LFS fan posters isn't it?

And then do we have smaller maps in black and white that could be used for track notes? Printouts could be in A4 size.

Is XP3200+ as good as you need with LFS?
romus74

So a simple question: will LFS benefit at all from having a better processor? If I had a Radeon X1950Pro AGP, Matrox TripleHead2GO using 3840x1024 and a full grid in online play with my system would I get a smooth play? My current system: MSI KT600 motherboard XP3200+ Barton (11x200fsb) 3x512mb ram Radeon 9700 Pro AGP Dell 20" wide screen TFT So I am just day dreaming. Should I be happy with my current rig, or would the graphics and display upgrade do good?

yep, almost the same here. i dont really have time to race online now, but i'm practicing mostly with mrt. most of my friends who try lfs at my place also find it very enjoyable, so it seems to suit beginners very well. cruising around kyoto long recently was surprisingly lot of fun.
