Ah, I forgot to explain a quirk of mine.

While using a knife at the dinner table, I tend to use the fork with my left, and knife with my right. I can't do that without fumbling with the fork though...

While handling a hand gun, I'll fire with my right. While handling a rifle however, I will pull the trigger with my left. That is only because my left eye is a hell of a lot better than my right. I have actually managed to create scripts for Counter Strike to reflect this. I don't fire guns that much, so I don't have a chance to confuse people too much.

Right handed, not ambidextrous.

I drove the V8 Supercars in rF and even switched my shifter to the left side to see if I could drive as close to the real thing as possible, but could not get the timing down for gear changes.

I know it's not impossible for right handed people to drive a right hand drive car, but I imagine it would be a hell of a learning experience if you've learned to drive a left hand drive car. I suddenly find myself wanting to give it a try in an actual car...

I disagree S14.

I've seen people use them in actual races to help faster traffic pass. I have tried, successfully might I add, to signal to the following driver which side of the track I will stay on to let them pass. Watching in the mirror, I could see he wanted to pass on the other side, (I have no idea why, it was FAR from the preferred line...) but he got the idea very quickly and passed on the other side.

I actually would prefer to map those functions to my wheel in game instead of having to use a profiler. I think they are more important than having the ignition mapped to my wheel.

I find a few of the points interesting. I do see a need for auto's in LFS, but I for one, would stay away from them. I'm trying to find a standard to replace my current auto IRL.

I can tell you though, that drifting would still be possible. A lot harder, but still possible. My car at least, has a foot pedal to press down for the E break. I tried this while following a friend of mine who slid his car on the snow ahead of me. I was able to do the same and even keep accelerating with it because my car is front wheel drive.

I would like to see what others think about the option to select gears with the auto. I have been going on with thinking it's a semi-automatic tranny, but not sure exactly. I have the option to hold my car in gears 1 through 3, and have over drive take care of the last 2 gears. I have used it many times to control downhill speed without breaks, and to hold it at a better RPM for getting ready to accelerate.

Meh, just my 2 cents.
