solely depends how good the wireless is really. The best thing to do is ping a server over 1000 times and if no big pings raise up you can say its rock solid.
For example a new technology here will come in action in about a month or 2. Its wireless and its rock solid. It uses Docsis system just like cable with pings of 7,8... So thats some kind of super duper wireless connection which is better then standard ADSL2+ with pings of 14ms.
Wired cable is probably still better but it has same pings as the wireless solution but only tests will tell this.

For example I can play any game with my upload fully maxed out with utorrent. If you use Cfosspeed it will hold your ping steady under 40 all the time no matter what.

Would it work if I just train 1 car of each class then make clones and rename the files to AI 2-12?
Sawyer

Yeah. I guess the AIs first need to be fully up to speed. I just had one little tin top in middle of F1s and they kept hitting it and throwing over the wall lol.

Lol thats fun watching the AIs

Just had 11Foxes and 1 Sauber starting from back. Foxes very already pretrained for some 1:21laps on FE Gold. Sauber was new and started to learn. He dropped back big time and got them on approx lap 25 out of 30.

Now the AI6 sauber which was pretrained. I tried to start only a Sauber race and putting this car at end and he plugged the field lol. Seems like he knows how to pass Foxes but not other F1s.

Now I imagine it will be a bit hard to train all cars and all combinations if each learns on its own especially with a 12 AI limit.

So are you saying the AI does learn like in the latest rfactor patch?
Until what point will it keep improving?

Quote from (SaM) : LFS uses state of the art interpolation wich makes it one of the smoothest online games.
.

Pardon me but I would say it comes out short in the netcode department. Everyone I talked with said they wish it has such great netcode like rfactor and I agree so where do you see that state of the art interpolation again?

4Mbit/512kbps pings are around 50 on the servers I race.
But at end of a race you usually stop after the start finish line and make some burnouts. When I drive past a car and make a fast burnout into his direction. Also when I drive past it disappears and when i turn around I see him popup again.

Also on starts. Some cars simple dont come from the start when the race starts then suddenly warp to front on the other side others may be fully smooth.

Tweaking your connection?

Is there a way to tweak your connection to get better positions from the server? How about forcing more detail into replays?

I see that when you turn around cars disappear. I also see that the netcode is kind of really warpy especially on starts.
So is there anything I can do to force more updates from a server or even from me up to the server? Didnt find anywhere even the minimum to set up for your connection like used in other games.

Quote from Forbin :Wrong. That's the way most other games do it. LFS does not. It's all based on where YOU drive. (and other people and AI if you have it set that way as explained above)

Eric (generally) dictates the lines on a track through his creation of the corners. But it's your driving that creates the racing groove on the track. It's very possible to have a racing groove down the back straight of Blackwood that is all kinds of squiggly.

I also tried that. Made a massive circle burnout in front the start finish line. Used all my 3 tyres and even then kept doing it until it was pure black color. After I restarted there was no sign of it left. So It cant be where you actually drive. Must be some presets there or else how do you explain this.

Quote from tristancliffe :I turn on path update when I run a WR replay. Then I turn it off again. The darker line caused by the WR replay stays there forever. If you don't update it (i.e. path is turned off), the line stays there indefinately.

Hm interesting but how many laps you had to let the replay run for such a rubber lol and still now I need to know how to get ride of the rubber in first place. I did extrac a new zip into the apart of .exe and its still there.
Maybe extract the .exe in a new .zip folder?
If I only could extract the license like in rfactor.

Hm I dunno. I had a really black FE Gold and now I let the AI F1 drive on it and all went to hell. Track isnt clean fully just its minor rubber on it now. Will try tomorrow if it will build up online again.
Sawyer

Yeah however the question was. Is there a way to clear the track fully of the rubber without reinstalling the game and wasting a unlock?
Not disabling this option but cleaning the track

Quote from Madman_CZ :thanks for that.. ive never seen the lines that dark on my computer... what is the name of the file again which you can edit to make the line darker and appear quicker? my memory fails me

I didnt edit that line at all so wouldnt know. Its all from racing the FOX on this track for whole 3 days lol and yeah I have set it on for all cars. Was sure it has something to do with upload my/theres position "netcode" to all players at the same time lol.

Ah now I get it. No I'm not talking about tyre skid marks. The black lines when you slide but about the darker getting track like on the picture above, the race line

Quote from Madman_CZ :post a screenie to show us and the newbies.... iv never really noticed the rubber being put down that much.. i have done 40 lap league races and never really noticed the line...

i know you can change it in one of the file in the lfs folder.. but i havent played with that yet!..

mad

Quote from Becky Rose :It is reset when a race or qualifying session starts, but as far as I can tell any rubber that goes down then stays down for the rest of the session - which is actually a very impressive technical achievement from a programming point of view.

Erm no it isnt reset. Once its there its there. I just wanted to know if it will go away on its own when I will stop racing this track and start another or if there is a way to clean the track. I just love to play with such detailed stuff.
Also dont get me wrong. I love this feature and if its up to me it can get even more rubier .

Also whats up with my first post. The smiley is linked to my teams homepage. How could this happen lol? I never used a link but a direct smiley from this forum just like above.

Quote from Funnybear :the game will take off 'old' skidmarks as the race progresses. (I think).

But why you would want to take them off as they give you so much information as to how others are driving and what is happening on the track is beyond me.

Cuz the whole corners are black now .

Actually I dont want to disable it just clean the track from time to time . How should I go about this?
Rubber buildup on braking and sliding zones?
Sawyer

I just noticed when I reinstalled the game that the track was fully clean and cuz I was looking for the rubber on the FE Gold where you go for the long straight then left and couldnt find any rubber and was abit confused. After some Laps I seen it again so does it really build up rubber where you drive and slide or is it a generic thing?l

How to get rid of all the rubber then?

Also what is the HAZE effect?

Here you go. It doesnt hurt my FPS on 4xAA and 16xAF at all but I cant say I see really a big difference either!

Quote from Eddster :There are some very avid followers of what is the pinnacle of motorsport on this forum. But in any thread to do with Formula 1, for every poster that likes F1, there is another that thinks it is boring and BTCC is much better. illepall

So will driving the BF1 for some LFSers generate a new found respect for F1 drivers and the sport, or is it only the F1 fans that truly enjoy LFS's new open-wheeler?

I'm a big F1 fan and I really dont enjoy the new car. Its simple to fast for me. Still prefer FOX 100 times over BF1 and the fact that its driving only on fictional tracks doesnt help either.
Not saying thats its not well done. Only that I dont like it on skinny tracks...

I dont know why we dont get an option to host our own HI Res skins anyway? I mean everyone has probably a webhost from his ISP with at last 10MB web space. OR most even have big upload them self and if you would enable download high res skins in your game and the client would have one to offer whats the deal?
You would just write an url somewhere in the game where others would automatically download just like from LFSW right now.

I'm loving it! And I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy LFS sooner!!!

Are the tyres really the only problem? I loaded some setups and they all have a high nose for the FOX cars. I know now that there is some problem with aero so far but I tried to lower the front to a some normal settings and the feeling was much more what I expect a front wing car to be.
So you saying the tyres are the only problem?

Id say only this fix will make a big difference regardless tyres.
