Quote from obsolum :I think most theaters expect you to return the glasses after the movie by dumping them in a big bin Of course no one's gonna notice if you just slide them in your pocket.

well it would be a dissapointment for me after scawen's announcement at beginning of year, it becoming a great lfs year. Well since i am no multiscreenuser i have had a ordinary lfs year then, certainly not a great one

But what cant be helped, cant be helped....carry on

i seem to remember the devs have to register versions on the master server. Not all the very old are (0.1 etc dating from 2003) i gather.

Your LFS will auto alert you on new patches in the multiplayer lobby.
Only official patches that is. You can autodownload it ingame then.

Testpatches can give you more of an involvement in development but might not be compatible with official patches. Its never needed to download them. And you will need to do it manually in the testpatch section of this forum.

It's wise in that case to keep multiple installs (just copy LFS folder).

Quote from the_angry_angel :Sorry to weigh in really late on this one, but -
They aren't. That's the point. The companies and people producing software should be familiar enough with the concepts of preventing their program file directory from being globally writable, etc.

I would like to say that these are new concepts and that it is a surprise, unfortunately it's not and it's something I have to battle with on a monthly basis for customers that use terminal servers and other highly locked down Windows based environments. %APPDATA% and %USERPROFILE% exist for a bloodly good reason, all of which Kegetys has already outlined. They should be used, and potentially you should at least have the ability to manually specify another location for storage if neither of these are suitable for the user.

In defense of the average user he should know this when installing skins or setups. Its not as easy then as just look where the program. So its not easy and transparant. Maybe to new windows users, definetely not to old. No matter which good reasons there might have been for introducing it.

Especially since both kegesys and yourself are looking mainly from programmers view.

Can i still install with it to program files?

I dont have any issues and my current install is there. Usally all applications have their files their although most other sims (nkpro/iracing) use user/documents for configuration, settings, setups etc.

that is the case with my road car (democar). So i dont think it should be different in lfs.

Quote from oleroc :I have found that I am missing the sound for pit limiting in csr when I use the new patch.
I have a loud pit limit sound in Z, but nothing in Z25... have the outgauge value, field or what been changed, deleted??????

Edit:
I see now that a whole section of insim has been changed, and pit limit value is in this section:

Z25:
int ID; // optional - only if OutGauge ID is specified
};

// OG_x - bits for OutGaugePack Flags

#define OG_TURBO 8192 // show turbo gauge
#define OG_KM 16384 // if not set - user prefers MILES
#define OG_BAR 32768 // if not set - user prefers PSI

// DL_x - bits for OutGaugePack DashLights and ShowLights

enum
{
DL_SHIFT, // bit 0 - shift light
DL_FULLBEAM, // bit 1 - full beam
DL_HANDBRAKE, // bit 2 - handbrake
DL_PITSPEED, // bit 3 - pit speed limiter
DL_TC, // bit 4 - TC active or switched off
DL_SIGNAL_L, // bit 5 - left turn signal
DL_SIGNAL_R, // bit 6 - right turn signal
DL_SIGNAL_ANY, // bit 7 - shared turn signal
DL_OILWARN, // bit 8 - oil pressure warning
DL_BATTERY, // bit 9 - battery warning
DL_ABS, // bit 10 - ABS active or switched off
DL_SPARE, // bit 11
DL_NUM
};

//////
#endif

Z:

int ID; // optional - only if OutGauge ID is specified
};

#define OG_SHIFTLIGHT 1
#define OG_FULLBEAM 2
#define OG_HANDBRAKE 4
#define OG_PITSPEED 8
#define OG_TC 16
#define OG_HEADLIGHTS 32
#define OG_SIGNAL_L 64
#define OG_SIGNAL_R 128
#define OG_REDLINE 256
#define OG_OILWARN 512
#define OG_1 1024
#define OG_2 2048
#define OG_3 4096
#define OG_4 8192
#define OG_KM 16384
#define OG_BAR 32768

//////
#endif

Does this mean that CSR will have to be updated????
The pit limit sound is a must!!!

/om

How is an incompatibility in CSR an LFS issue. Direct it to the CSR thread will you.

Quote from DaveWS :So what if they announced it a while ago? It has still only just come into action, giving us a saving from now on compared to the old prices.

It's about friggin time they lowered the prices, I'm glad I held off buying lots of content before now. Great news.

Well if you bought recently there is a payback agreement of some kind depending on that gap between anouncement and your buy.

Quote from The Moose :At those prices even I'm tempted to sign up again.

Stay strong, nkpro for the world

Quote from The Moose :I almost fell for it until i realized that now you don't get any credit with a years sub you're actually $3 a year worse off than how it is now.

Classic bit of marketing. Give with one hand, take away with the other

Still, great to hear content prices are far more like they should have been to begin with.

That is not exactly true if you count the possible companisation for taking part in official racing of max $40. And the content is also cheaper so that credit is more value.

So basically you get the credit if you participate.
It is still not a cheap experience compared to nkpro/LFS

Quote from pik_d :If I am right, the "lag bars" in the lower left are currently in the same order as the connections list. This can be used to tell who is lagging without actually having to cycle through the players by position matching between the two.

If you change connections list order, please change the "lag bar" order as well so we can still tell who is lagging in this way.

Use the shift F8 for that i adds the ping of the player beside his name (show names view)

Quote from ALT0160 :Great update, but there are still a few problem, mostly with the lights.

I updated from my old, standard Z to z16, my headlights were under the '6' button ('3' is used for my ignition).
When I pressed '6' the lights came on but when I released the button they went out again, just like in the standard Z. I tried it with both the XFG and the XRG. If I change the light button back to '3', nothing changes. I haven't yet tried it on a fresh install of patch Z.

Another thing, I really like the lights inside (shift up, handbrake, indicators and headlights), but the position of them changes, cockpit view is different from chase view.

I also seem to have lost the ability to keep the indicators on as long as I press the button and don't touch any other button while holding the indicator. Maybe a small change/improvement, if it's possible, could be to separate the left and right indicator so you can see on witch side the indicator is on.

V / TAB / P / HOME / F1 / F2 / F3 / F / SHIFT+M / N work in options-thing works most of the time, in works in every category in options except 'options > controls'.

Nothing wrong there Z16 has a lights flashing key (your 6) and a light stay on key the 3. So you just need another ignition key. This means 3 is reserved now and should not be assigned to something else.

Quote from JJ72 :those mods require a -loose parameter on the exe - and that crashed my game.

Solutions? (it runs fine without it, just nothing is updated)

If i read correct the -loose parameter is only needed for unpacked files not replacing packed files. It will require overwriting existing files then.

I do think it was perfectly fine as a post....nto as a new thread. It should just have been in the track thread.

Quote from tristancliffe :I'm sure no one is interested, but I've started uploading my videos from Rockingham from last year. My upload speed isn't very high, so I'll probably only get one done today (wet practice), and then I'll start with the others next week. Off to Croft tomorrow for a race meeting, so won't get any up over the weekend. Maybe Eric will watch them and see something in them he hasn't spotted before, thus making the track even better in LFS - I'm still concerned that the end result won't be very much like Rockingham in reality.

Maybe they can invite you to the closed-beta team?
