You could just as easily say that he paid the same thing for MUCH MORE.
If one person buys a Subaru for $45,000 and another buys a Lotus Elise for $45,000, which one got "much less?"
The Lotus driver would say that the Subaru owner got "much less" because the Subaru does not handle like his car, is not as fast as his car and does not look as cool as his car.
The Subaru owner would say that the Elise driver got "much less" because his car cannot carry the massive loads of camping gear that he stuffs in his car, and that his car cannot go off road and that he can't drive in adverse weather conditions without a great deal of difficulty.
It simply depends what you WANT out of it. Both games have their strong points, and both have their weak points. But for some people, only certain things matter - and that's what determines what is less and what is more.
This is something I'd really, REALLY like to see included in LFS sometime in the near future. The rate at which other player's cars are refreshed is pretty good, but it could be better, and there really is no need to update another car's path just as often as the guy right next to you if the other car is on the other side of the track...
...unless LFS does this already, but I'm pretty certain it does not.
Well, mine isn't a "proper" projector setup, but the sense of speed and excitement you get in LFS is greatly magnified when you're sitting a few feet from a 72" projected image. I'll take a picture next time I race it...
...people walking by our dorm often stop and just stare.
That wouldn't be a bad idea. I'm probably completely wrong, but I wouldn't think it would dramatically reduce framerate if you ran it that way. Like you stated, it would just be LFS running three views, which wouldn't really add that much more strain to the CPU. I would really like to see this developed farther by the devs, maybe as a second-program-running-in-the-background sort of add-on.
I have to admit. I'm amazed that thing ran at all with that much dust in it. I can't believe the processor didn't overheat to the point of instability with that much dust in the heatsink.
I HATE ObjectDock because it eats your computer's resources, as do MOST of those dock programs. That's why I don't use them. I hate cluttering up my computer with stuff like that that only slows it down and takes it longer to start up. That's why I use just Rainlendar and ONE Yahoo Widget and Miranda IM and that's IT. I simply added a toolbar to the Start Menu and put all my desktop icons there.
I was thinking the same thing. I'm a freshman in college - and haven't had ANY aerodynamics or anything courses yet, and yet here I am explaining things to Aerospace Majors...
They should add, in LFS world, a "gallons saved" stat that counts up the time when the engine is shut off, and then lists various things, like how much CO2 you didn't put out in the time your car wasn't running. Just to get an idea how much we'd save if the whole world did that.
Actually, on some cars (or all of them, for all I know) the manufacturer recommends turning the car off if you will be idling for a long time. For my dad's Audi, in the manual I think it says if you will be idling for more than 30 seconds or a minute or something, you should turn off the vehicle.
I'm simply very curious as to why it was like that - or if it wasn't and it was just me. It was so annoying. I come from a family with a big musical background and among other things - I have a very good rhythm. That just drove me insane.
