And you'll see me right behind zeug, offering him a starchy tuberous crop from the perennial plant Solanum tuberosum of the Solanaceae in return for him slowing down to let me past.

Quote from AndroidXP :It's amazing how quickly people make things up that they want to hear but were never actually mentioned

So true. But I, for one, am looking forward to racing tortoises with realistic shell damage.

I kinda wonder if this is a precursor to LFS becoming BMW Racing Simulator or something. Scawen's always come across as LFS being his project and he'll work on what he wants at his own pace and make a game from love, but perhaps the realities of his lofty goals are becoming more obvious (ie: it's an awful lot of work) and maybe he's going to sell out to BMW.

But having thought that out loud, would that be a bad thing? We'd have all the cars and tracks we currently have, Scawen could get a staff to direct to achieve his vision, work done would increase, we'd get a whole bunch of BMW's to drive, more tracks, and LFS would hit the market proper (ie: be published and available in shops to buy).

Maybe it's just the whisky talking, but I can't help thinking like this..

Wow. This sounds really exciting! Giving the engines more inertia sounds great. I wonder what the physics improvements are - is downforce from the tray also modeled now? Chasis twisting? Fluffy dice bouncing around on the rear view mirror?

edit: or maybe by 'physics improvements' he means the engine inertia and stalling the car and stuff, that's all physics. I mainly think tyres or aero when I hear physics for some reason.

Quote from Falcon140 :Nope. It's moving. Watch the video. At 2:38, you can see it.

Looks to me like an aliasing or anisotropic-filtering effect with pixel-thin lines.

Some entrants are let down by the picture they use to show the car off; some are badly taken (you can only see one area of the car), low res, or you can't really see the skin because of reflections and/or lighting. But some real nice work in there too!

I don't understand the people who say they can't tell when the back end is loosing it unless they use chase view. I use mouse and cockpit view and I can feel when the back end is loosing it easily enough.

Did anyone see the ITV F1 stuff before qualifying to day? What game were they playing in the sim there?

Turn 1 is called "n00b's corner" on all tracks

I think X7 (or above) patch will change to Y on release, but then all the cool things Scawen has mentioned for Y will really be in patch Z. (Because the X7/etc patches are backwards compatible)

How about Scawen employs someone to drive round your house and punch you in the face to simulate dieing if you crash at high speed. Then people'd learn!

It would rule! I'd also like to see radiator damage if you hit a stack of tyres knocked over by another racer. When a car infront of you crashes, too many people keep the gas down and charge through the accident. It'd be nice if they'd have a reason to slow down to avoid getting their front-end hit by the spun car or a gaggle of loose tyres for fear of breaking their radiator.

For me, no antivirus running, no other programs running that might cause such an issue, and it definitely wasn't skin downloading. (When I get a skin downloading, i do get a tiny stutter, but it's not really too noticable and way smaller than the mega-stutter I sometimes see)

Yeah, it was on Conedodgers I was getting the massive pause too. Driving the GTR cars around Aston National. Oh, and I'm on an AthlonXP 2400 too Albieg! But like joshdifabio said, it's not a case of always very low fps, it's a case of suddenly the game pauses for a heartbeat and then when it resumes there's carnage.
What causes the big lags in Patch X?

I certainly get a little less fps with 32 cars on the grid, some sometimes (most often at the start of a race) I get a massive pause or stutter and then when I get my fps back there's cars flying all over the place.

What causes this? Do crashes cause the stutter, and make it worse for everyone else? Am I the only person getting this? Or does something else cause this stutter which then effects everyone and results in a big ol' crash before turn 1?

I have a feeling that Scawen and Victor rather enjoy what they do (coding and graphicsing respectively). But if a move was made to allow others to contribute to LFS, then both would have less time to do what they enjoy and would have to spend more time in a 'project management' kind of role; reviewing other people's work, managing changes and organising people, etc. And compared to being creative, this type of management work is boring

Because the patch changes the live for speed executable, and so the firewall notes the execuatable has changed (perhaps by a virus attaching itself to the .exe - but in this case by a new patch) and so denies LFS access to the internet until you tell it to.

How did you turn your firewall off? A lot of firewalls work in two pieces, the service and the front-end UI. And if you close the front-end UI, the service still runs and keeps blocking stuff.

Just that with 32 racers and 15 specs there's already a lot of talk going on, and it getting poluted with useless (at least to the 'casual' racer) information could be avoided.
