To the guy that switched to BF1 today - again, respect the other racers m8
And as for the serv. I was really amazed tonight to see a FULL race with LRF at So unof1 rev. But also, sadly some wreckers came... I guess they only join servers with 10+ people.
I've spent some time on the server, and I have to say that the "All cars enabled" option doesn't do any good for it sadly Some racing with LX4, some with F08 and a few BF1s to kill it off
That's precisely NOT how I see this whole idea. What I'd like is to have a OCC Server. With time a group of people would recognize it as a great place to have some good races, on the less popular combos. This way we would have something like the good ol' Netikka server from the demo times.
If we did it like you suggest, people would get spread all over the place again - having 1, 2 people on a server.
I really think the best option would be if for example a team volunteered a serv. Call it "Odd Combo Club hosted by TeamX", so people RECOGNIZE it. (Both the OCC thing, and the team would get some credit as well).
Key word here: recognition: I'm looking for a original combo, I know I can head to the OCC serv, not just join an empty one and count endlessly on someone joining.
That sounds interesting to some extent but... I think LFS offers us lots of variety. We just need to take advantage of that, we don't really need to take such "extreme measures" if you will (reffering to FXR on rallycross tracks :P)
An OCC server sounds great if you ask me And surely, with like 300 empty servers it shouldn't be hard to find someone willing to help us out.
This could be worth trying, I mean what harm can be done?
That's a good idea, but it doesn't really guarantee that people won't go to a different server to find Fox+SOC elsewhere.
I think what could be a good idea, is to kind of.. advertise servers. I mean, if a given server would be famous for a great place to find good servers, then maybe people would be more enthusiastic in joining it regardless of the combo it was running?
Here I'm moving into the issue of "branding" I guess
Anyone remember the demo times? Back then I KNEW I could count on great racing when I joined the "Nettika" server. Wow, after all these years I even still remember the name That's what I mean about branding. But with the huge amount of servers nowadays, it could be hard for one to stand out like that.
I am in a team, I participate in leagues. But that's the problem. I DON'T WANT TO spend a whole week racing only one combo to prepare for a league race. What I'd like is to be able to take advantage of the variety that LFS offers. And spending a week on a given combo and then switching it isn't my idea of doing that.
Sometimes I wonder:
Now we have roughly 1000 people online in the evenings. Let's say that 70% of that is racing on the "mainstream" configs. If we had 10 000 people racing, then.... 7000 people would be racing GTR @ As Nat? Rough figures, but I think you get the point: would having more LFS players actually help this situation, or would it in a way make it worse. I wonder...
As the title says, I've just about had it. For some reason people think that you can only:
- race the GTR at either BL GP or AS NAT
- race the BF1 on either the oval or BL GP
- you can only drift with the LFR cars
- FOX can only be used at SO Classic.
Practically any time I go to an empty server to choose a different combo (let's say F08 @ Fe black, or AS Historic) I end up racing alone for 30 minutes waiting for someone to join.
Lately I found myself racing at the demo servers, because that's the only place where I can race the GTT with people (race, not drift). I'm HUGELY fed up with this.... sorry, but why are people so boring? Or afraid of new combos?
Come to think of it I'd rather play minesweeper than have another lap at as nat with the gtrs.
Besides, the F08 really is a beast. Check this replay. Watch me on the finish of the race (last straight only) to see just how much power and traction it has.
Seriously DO watch it. Worth recommending I found it immensly funny, and that's not easy for me
I'm not sure what you mean. For me, with the settings which I wrote before it works like this:
- the wheel ALWAYS matches the LFS wheel, regardless of the car I'm using (so if I turn it 90 degrees, the wheel in LFS is always turned 90 as well)
- the wheel IS NOT physically blocked when I reach the limit of turning (like if I turn over the 270 degrees in the MRT). This would probably be the case if I adjusted manually within the profiler for each car. To be honest, I can't be bothered
I absolutely love the F08 after the patch. To me it's like a faster, better FOX. Shame no one drives it.
To all the FOX fans: I really really encourage you to try the F08. It's a blast to drive, and trust me, it CAN really provide some very fun, CLOSE racing. Just try it
Set it to 900 degrees both in the Logitech Profiler and LFS. The game will automatically adjust, so you'll be able to turn 720 in the GTI and 270 in the MRT. No need to do it manually.
