I think that the FOX (Formula XR) is a clear copy of this car:

(sorry I admit: I couldn't even be bothered to read all of this topic. After the first few posts I got the idea "mommy, mommy, they banned me. they no good. me no like them no more"... guys, this is a game.. geez).

I recently found two things:
1. I've definitely "lost my passion" for this forum. Every second new thread is either about progress reports, (or the recent "lfs dev team" one which I won't even bother opening), and then the other threads go somewhere along the lines of: "Do midgets/military people play LFS?".
2. I kind of changed the "way" I play LFS. I focus on league races. That gives me the motivation to really train on a certain combo, as well as race with a group of people I know, and enjoy. That means I pretty much gave up joining random servers, and racing with random people.
Mind you, I still have a bloody good time playing LFS

Personally 2 hours in a single race is a bit too long for me. I've done that a few times in GTR, didn't really enjoy it. On the other hand an hour long race is just perfect, I've been doing lots of those

I don't know about removing it, but I'm sure that it doesn't need to be neither bigger nor brighter.
In the first pic, there is no depth added to the panels. That means they're just flat "sheets of metal". When you look in between the panels, you can see right through to the inside.
In the second pic, there is depth added to the panels. That pretty much means that they're bent to the inside
Obviously that Merc. wasn't finished at the time of making that render, but it still shows what I mean I think.
(and yes, I was going to make a lowrider version of the car, hence the silly wheels.

)Heh. I'm not a big fan of boolean as it tends to screw up the mesh a bit. But yes, they sure are easy to use

You can start a thread in the WIP:3D section, and get some good advice. And check out the other threads, you can really learn a lot by doing that.
I know I did! I haven't been on there for a while, but I don't think much has changed for the worse, so worth a try. (Actually I think you can find most of my models on there, and compared to some of the other guys' work, they really aren't much as you'll see).
Again, I'm really pleased that someone here is interested in 3D for real, not just rendering the LFS cars (almost always in the same boring way) or editing the LFS cars' mesh. Just my own view

Ehm. how much time? Hard to say really, aprat from LOTS of it.
An estimate would be 2 to 4 weeks of modelling. Again, hard to give a good estimate, since I did them a while back.
About the method: I'm not sure what it's called. I put a whole bunch of points, connect them into polys, then use hypernurbs. (I think it's called meshsmooth in other programs?). Sounds simple, doesn't it?
Oh, and then there's the texturing and renders, sadly I never got good at that. I'm glad you like them though.
