Something that really bugs me when tweaking in the game is how come figures like power, torque and weight are based off some random figures and not on a unit such as 1220 (for a 1220kg car) or 115 (for a car which does 115lb/ft of torque) rather than 0.15 or 1.6?

Is this a problem with LFS Tweak or LFS itself?

WKD is the worst cruise server on LFS at the moment, too strict, LTC is the way forward (excuse the shameless promotion)

Realistically when I'm older it'll be the Escort Van and the Golf. (although probably a GT TDI, they're better on fuel economy)

Quote from E.Reiljans :Torque limitations are still there.

Change them, then.

How many electric cars do you see racing round a track, I never seen the Toyota Prius Grand Prix.

I personally appreciate the work Scavier have done on this project and while the time frame between S2 and S3 could be shorter I am fully prepared to wait until S3 is released with many new good features and the same stablility and speed I love it for. I still get kicks out of LFS and will not be leaving it for a competing simulator where the development focus is related more to graphics.

Quote from Psysim :I have to agree with gandlers to some extent, and I am more cruiser/drifter than racer. Giving out the source could be complete disaster. I am all up for new features that aid the cruising community, but I can't help feeling this would devide the LFS community, would that be a good thing?

Currently (at this moment) 1215 users on-line, I am not going to say there are more cruisers than racers, but I feel confident in saying that cruisers spend longer periods connected than any other type of lfs user, I could be way out of place saying that, but its what I see. So, how many users would be left online at LFS if it was devided? a few hundred? would make those server lists look real bad.

I agree, Aston, Kyoto, Westhill and Fernbay are all race style tracks, but I fail to see SouthCity as anything less than universal, its a very good 'cruise' style track. Objects are what help us improvise when it comes to the race style tracks.

I know its a long way off, but there is talk of track editing software of some variety coming with s3... I think focusing on the cruise community on its own would be great for cruisers, but could kill the rest of lfs. I don't want to sound objectional but this one gets a thumbs down from my opinions!

Nice thought tho

Thanks, that puts a lot of things into perspective, I have to agree with you about splitting the community up. You talk about "giving away the source code" but I meant it in the way of say Microsoft programmers having access to the code which makes up Windows, the programmers who would be supervised by Scawen and co.

I never knew about the track editing software in talks for S3, seems interesting, is there a discussion on these forums?

Quote from MadCatX :Actually something like towing to pits for repairs might be useful in 24h races. IIRC some series allow for a car to be repaired after a serious collision or a crash. If it's declared safe it can resume racing. On the other hand, the repairs usually take some time so unless you want to spend long minutes or even hours waiting till the car gets repaired, such an option doesn't make much sense...

A safety car goes out while another car flips the cars involved in the collision back over and escorts them to the pits to be repaired?

Quote from tristancliffe :Yes, you should pit in the race for your 12,000 mile service...

Considering how long the pitstops take it wouldn't suprise me if they could squeeze changing all the spark plugs, fuel filters, air filters, oil and radiator water in there.

Be a good idea.
Live for Speed fork for cruising

I know I'll probably get a lot of flaming for this idea but I reckon it'd be better for everybody.

If Scawen and the boys could find a development team who were to fork Live for Speed to a dedicated cruising game with the same Physics, Graphics and general interface, only with more relevent content such as an unlocked cityscape or a countryside village.

It could be considered a sister game to LFS, and have it's own similar looking site and forum, I've seen stuff like this done in other software, though I cannot think of any particular examples at the moment. Some of the advantages of this could be...

- Would stop a lot of cruise requests on these forums.
- Cruisers may actually get what they want.
- It'd be nice for Cruisers to not have to improvise with racing maps such as Aston and South City.
- May get LFS a bit more recognition through being a partnered game.

It'd obviously be quite a large commitment, but if Scavier found some developers in this community with the skill and motivation it could be pulled off and it could be a brilliant game.

Quote from vistaman :Bump, dno where to write. But Scawen, COULD YOU PLEASE! do a multicore support for the new LFS? Im getting mad when I have high fps, going on a cruise server and then the game just gives me 50-60fps instead of 200-300FPS. I feel the difference.

cap the fps
Accelerator / Brake on seperate axis

Unfortunatley I cannot afford a steering wheel and pedals, I'm probably not the only one, yet I very much enjoy playing Live for Speed regardless. So far my control set up has been either:

Accelerate: Left Mouse Button
Brake: Right Mouse Button
Clutch: C
Shift Up: Scroll Up
Shift Down: Scroll Down

or

Accelerate/Brake: Axis Y
"
"
"
"

Which works fine, but sometimes when you're using the second one and you release the throttle it'll brake a bit, which affects performance. I've split the Accelerator/Brake so Mouse Y is only Accelerate but I cannot set the Brake to RMB while throttle is on the axis.

Any way to fix this or could a fix be implemented into the game?

Quote from UnknownMaster21 :I voted no because LFS is an alpha mode, LFS itself still has some technic problems

LFS isn't in alpha mode.

I vote yes but only if you crash, remember these LFS cars are made in Britain so there's no chance they'd break down unintentionally.
