Oh I'm sure it can work, I'm just not seeing the why. It just seems like there's this trend of trying to stuff everything into the browser window these days, no matter if there's any benefit of doing so or not. The sim has to be it's own standalone program anyway, so why not just keep the damn browser out of it?

Quote from The Moose :- the iRacing approach has been a great source of inspiration, so in the future nk pro will gradually switch to a browser access (that's a long term plan)

Grrr. What's the ****ing point? What possible advantage could this bring? It's so mind-numbingly counter intuitive to have to use a damn browser to start a sim that it makes me want to scream. Will this even work if you happen to use something other than IE/Firefox?

Quote from BAMBO :It's actually that noticeable? If I remember the facts correct, a german laughs about 3 minutes a day while a british laughs 9 minutes a day , I also remember that in Hermany you can find what is called a Humour Church, basicaly it's a building in a more modern church shape where people "grow laughing trees", " throws laughing tomatoes at each other" and do a lot of ho-ho (short pause) ha-ha-ha.

I think you need to stop believing everything Clarkson tells you.

Quote from PLAYAPIMP :lfs starts of fine its just as soon as it says loading 100% bam it crashes

Define "crashes". Does it just disappear? Blue screen? Do you get a crash report?

Quote from TripleX322 :very interesting patch but i cant play at all it just shut down on me =/
any solutions

"shut down" isn't specific enough for anyone to be able to help you, nor for Scawen to fix the problem. Please describe the exact steps you went through to make LFS "shut down" and also report any error messages you might get.

It wasn't far reaching enough. People saw it on the teevee and then went back to their normal lives filled with a little more hate. If people lost everything and had to fight to keep themselves and their family alive they'd start to appreciate how well off they really are/were.

(I seem to be getting rather cynical about the state of the world)

Quote from BAMBO :And I already shown you the H2 against all of it's opponents here it is again in case you've missed it

If you think anything shown in that video is even remotely impressive, you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

Oh I see. It can't actually be good off road? Then H2 it is.

Quote from BAMBO :H2 is not bad, show me another off-roader (excepting it's big brother , the H1) that can do what it's doing.

Here's one Hägglund's BV206. (That's me driving BTW)

Nothing in that video is even remotely impressive (especially not the rampant fanboyism). Throw some mud or snow into the mix and watch your H2 bog down like the road car it is.

The H2 is absolutely hopeless off road. It's running on the same platform as the Chevrolet Tahoe for crying out loud. It's only good for moving rappers and housewives around the city.

Meh. If it doesn't have belts, it's not an off-road vehicle.

Quote from dougie-lampkin :Maybe Scawen likes reading a few posts that praise his efforts over the last few months?

Praise is one thing. That's not the issue. A friendly thank you isn't spam. The problem is all the other inane comments of people who obviously haven't even read the damn first post, let alone the forum rules and the rest of the thread. These people wouldn't know a constructive comment if it hit them in the back of the head, and they do nothing but clutter up the thread with noise, or stuff that was discussed and fixed 4 posts earilier.

Why does it bother me? Because Scawen has repeatedly expressed his feelings on these posts, and that he'd really like to avoid them so he can get down to business as efficiently as possible. People flat out ignore his comments, and things actually gets worse every test patch. That annoys me, because if it was me trying to get work done it'd put me off the whole damn thing. It just creates a bad atmosphere which kills morale.

Also note that if you're using Memtest86 it isn't completely foolproof. I've had Memtest run all day long on my computer, but still having Prime95 turn up some memory errors.

Prime95 is in fact an excellent way to determine if your memory or CPU is causing trouble. It has a few different modes that makes it use most of your memory (memory test) or mostly CPU cache (CPU test). If for instance the memory test fails, but the CPU test doesn't, you know the memory is bad. If both fail, it's probably the CPU. A properly stable computer should be able to run either of these tests for at least 6 hours, ideally indefinitely.

It may not be a huge timesink, but god damn is it annoying. The rules of the test patch forum are very clear and Scawen has posted several times that there's too much spam. There's even a bloody popup when you visit for the first time. It's impossible to plead ignorance here, so it must be idiocy and just plain spite. People who can't follow simple instructions annoy the hell out of me.

Quote from DratsaB :Scawen must have the patience of a preschool teacher.

That's the thing though. This place is becoming more and more like preschool every day. There's many more kids (mentally or physically) fequenting this forum now than before. It has basically reached a point where there's not enough people to knock them down a peg or two when they're being stupid, resulting in the little spambots feeding off each other with this nonsense until a moderator comes along with the key. It's exactly like letting a group of children alone without adult supervision. There will be noise, bloody noses and property damage at the end of it.

Personally I'd really like to see the moderators hit down on this behaviour harder than they're doing right now. I know the poor sods are overworked as is, but if being a spamming idiot actually had real consequences people would eventually learn how to behave, eventually decreasing the workload as well.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Yes i know, they are just drawn, but they don't share the same leather texture with the rest of the car, as you can see on the picture... and that's what i meant about wierd modeling

And how do you propose he'd make a dashboard texture that's loopable in both U and V directions while at the same time using it for the leather surrounding the vents? You need to use either multitexturing or layers of geometry (silly), or simply model the vents out of geometry to make that happen, and I'm willing to bet none of those options are viable in LFS at the moment without changing tools and/or hardware requirements.

Just change both textures when you're modding. Job done.

We must be doing pretty damn well when school yard politics reaches the highest level of government. Never mind the poor, and starving (yes, even in Sweden). Nope. We must focus all out attention on preventing 2 8-year old's feelings getting hurt. Wouldn't want them gaining useful experience now would we?

I'm starting to feel like it's time for the western world to have some major, far reaching disaster hit so we can get back in touch with what is important in life. Nothing like fighting for your life to bring some perspective.

Quote from Cue-Ball :Making the shadows darker wouldn't solve anything. If an object is in a shadowed area it doesn't cast a second, darker shadow. :slap:

In the strictest sense no, but in conditions like that there would most definitely be some ambient occlusion going on, giving the appearance of a very soft shadow underneath the car. Adding little touches like that do a lot to make the world feel more real.

The statistics disagree with you. At least here. Young drivers are by far most likely group to end up in an accident. They are usually also completely ignorant of that fact since they're all the second coming of Senna himself.

Quote from ESPAÑA[XTM] :I can in real life.. so is a bug I think..

Most likely it's an optimization. There's absolutely no point in rendering the entire scene twice for what amounts to a few hundred pixels in the resulting image.

Loving the new interiors. Details like the welds in the rollcage just make them. Great work once again!
