Some "little" things:

For example: Some pre-configured racing combinations like GTR races or road vehicle races or, or, or (we old users can do that, but beginners lose themselves in the OptionsMonster LFS)

Or some preconfigured routes / cars combinations that have proven to be particularly suitable.

Or the possibility of holding a championship with a point system.

In short, some interesting racing pre-configurations.

I hardly understood anything. But you don't have to if you have learned to trust the developers.

Thx for the Report and the Pictures. Some corners are totaly new and other hard to recognize again. Thumbs up

Quote from gu3st :His PC is just too weak.

The Quest with a Link cable is the same as using a normal Rift/Rift S headset. Lower FPS than the Rift (90) and Rift S (80) and a bit less detailed as it has to compress the video to send it over USB to the headset.

The Quest (Link) need a litle bit more CPU & GPU workload then Rift, because of the compress. And it has a very little delay against the Rift. the biggest "problem" is the 72Fps lock Shrug . But it is still immersive and fast.

But 2 days ago I finally made a jump and switched from fx8350 to Ryzen3600 and the FPS problems in LFS are finally history.

Only when I turn up the AC properly ..... it rattles on the other side and the graphics card can't keep up ...

I have also framedrops with Oculus Quest (Link) when i use more as 6 AI.
Its fall from 72 to 36 Frames.

Oculus has an feature that called ASW (Asynchronous SpaceWarp)

https://developer.oculus.com/documentation/native/pc/asynchronous-spacewarp/?locale=de_DE

But.... when i use an old Track (Fernbay) i can "easy" use 15-20 AI with stable 72 frames.

I am not sure why this only happens on the newer Tracks. Maybe the AI need more calculation on this Tracks...

Quote from 5tag :Don't act so innocent. Cool This was the golden age for cracks, keygens, disk imaging, torrents etc. and sharing ripped games along with movies or music was a big part of the LAN parties we had.

In fact, to get back on topic, this is how I was introduced to LFS: A cracked version of 0.5P. I got into online (demo) racing since updates were more common back then, the sound update of ~0.5V played a big role in that (still one of the most underappreciated aspects of LFS, although it definitely needs some attention). Credit cards are rather unusual where I live, but I eventually paid for S3 when PayPal became a thing.

That's true....

But it was also the time of demos. Uhmm

But I was pretty much the only Sim Racer in my Lan circle. So far, I had a hard time starting some races in the group. And LFS was the most accessible to my team. GTR & GTL were very difficult to master than the demo vehicles from LFS. Shrug

Quote from 5tag :Well you didn't look properly then. Tongue GPL had been around for a while then, and the community 2004 release didn't look too bad either. Also GTR and GTL came out in 2005, those were great in terms of sound at the time!

However, there were no demo versions of these games (with Lan). And back then at LanParty times you always had the problem that not every player had bought every game.

(Es gab aber keine Demoversionen dieser Spiele (mit Lan). Und damals zu LanParty Zeiten hat man eben immer das Problem gehabt das nicht jeder Spieler jedes Spiel auch gekauft hatte.)

I don't really remember that.

But what I remember is that sometime in 2003-2005 I was looking for racing simulations that had both a ForceFeedback function and Lan ....

And in ~2005 there were no options other than LFS ....
In addition, there was already a free demo at that time. Perfect for the Lan parties at that time.

Quote from cuprum :Eric Scwaen too lazy

No, the others are too lazy ... to continue expanding their products.

The other sell Dlc before the simulation works properly. I only need
one car and one Track if the physics and the force feedback are great. Hundreds of cars and hundreds of tracks only obscure that the simulation from the base is not interesting enough. Uhmm

Other simulations come and go every few years. They have great graphics and sound and are even fun ...

They are perfect .... To fill the waiting time between the LFS patches ..... Nothing more Big grin

I would recommend.

Static daytimes for demo players. Dynamic daytimes for license owners.

After all these years of development, this step should perhaps not be rushed. An intermediate step might be better.
You could probably keep the collision model and still mod ...

Something like an XRGT convertible for example. Or slight modifications and embellishments within your own LFS car fleet. I'm afraid if you don't set up rules, trucks will soon be driving through South City. And before there is no official mod support, I think the cosmetic mods are the only ones that can be used.

And who knows ... Maybe this will even open a way for the community to help the Devs. With a "re-design" of the LFS vehicles. Uhmm

@manrun

We have a Test Patch Forum here!
And yes we, (some of us) test every single Patch before they release it.

But you want a "Test/Test Patch Forum" with Daily or Weekly Updates??

I bet that would result in another delay for the official release.

Raytracing looks great, but let's talk about it again in five to ten years if performance doesn't suffer as much.

It is currently "pointless" for LFS. Every single frame was hard optimized by the developers only to then sacrifice half of their work with Ray for a bit of BlinkBlink.

I mean, look at the models of the cars! LFS should have very different priorities with only three developers. ;-)

It just looks great. Na-na

The only thing I "don't like" is that the lights (for example the pits) don't just turn on (unsynchronized) but slowly dim. As if your own sun is rising there.

But hey ... these are really just peanuts.

I have a seat next to me and my cockpit is close to the XF GTI. It's always a goosebump moment when I drive backwards out of the garage in Blackwood and hold myself in the passenger seat to turn over ..... and when i touch the cockpit.
