of course there's something to do about it: ignore it
otherwise, the fair 'top racer' should be weighed with the race laps (laps/race I mean)
that way the 1 lappers would not be an advantage in the stats. But seriously, to get a large number of wins, one have to be online 24/7 and run a lot of short races with very weak opponents (or opponents who simply let you win). If this is fun for anyone, let it be. If anyone cares for the statistics: let him do whatever it takes to get to the top. If it makes him happy I'm fine, and I guess most serious racers are fine with it too
but this is a good laughing matter at those who can be bothered with it - sorry :-)
Edit: I just wish to see the face of the guy when all the stats will be erased with an incompat patch ;-)))
(dont' think so tho: even my s1 km's are in I think)
The matter comes from the fact that we need to upload a hotlap for every league race - for starting position. And if it's a weak one, it's only good for a lower division of the four (we have around 70 entries for each race). So one needs to hotlap quite a bit :-)
But I just realized that online one could 'clean up' the track - eg clean some of the stacked tyres in chicanes and such - for the next racer...so it's not good at all. :-(
it's one of the best cars in S2 imho
I don't have any problems with the feedback either.
For those 'invisible' bumps: I feel them better in the fox than any other car.
dunno if it has come up yet:
it'd be good to have a server mode, which would check for HLVC and submit the best lap to the server, or at least you could use it to save the replay and upload as hotlap.
Hotlapping is boring, would be better done with others :-)
Acually one thing I can think of as a no-no:
It's possible to use the draft of others to pull insane laps....
Just wondering if anybody knows who(or what?) this DLAREG guy is? Most of the time he sits in the 'meeting room' of the server list. What is he doing there...? Strange.
There are cases where it seems to help, for example in fxo gtr, it helps with eliminating the turbo's lag. But it kills the motor in a few laps there too.
Talking about flips;
here's a very strange one: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NGS5KDIM
it's not a one-off thing either, I've done similar things on the last corner of the blackwood too.
Sometimes when you hit the curb funny things happen.
It would be nice if we could set the start point farther back in hotlapping mode.
It'd help to heat up the tyres a bit more for the hotlap (if you don't want to do an extra lap for every good one)
Maybe we could use it to train some specific corners better too.
I think banning/kicking is needed, there aren't enough admins. Bad things happen, it gets abused indeed, but it's not the tool, it's the person behind it who's making it bad in that case.
Hyperactive: I can type it up without reason and you'll get banned. This method requires credibility on the server. But if you have that, there's no reason for typing, they'll know you have a good enough reason...so....
Just a heads up, in the last few days the lfsworld for me is very laggy, it literally takes minutes to load up one page sometimes if it succeeds at all.
Other times it's just slowish (20-30seconds). But never as fast as it was earlier.
May be some local network issue, I'm in Australia with Internode.
I'd like to hear if anybody else has similar issues.
it's all wrong anyway, it depends on setup & driving style and can differ greatly.
on the other hand, a few percent of extra wont' hurt, except maybe those going for a wr only. it requires around 40% fuel to make any difference which you can actually feel in the FOX, and that's a very light car. (altho it has a small tank too)
We are on different opinion here. but yes it's O/T, maybe some other time/place. I don't believe in religions either. :-)
On topic:
I've seen son1c yesterday night joining to our server, I was ready for some hardcore crap, but somehow nothing happened. He either was kicked in short order by an admin or he did behave...
Altho it's a bit harsh, a temp ban is quite good solution imho.
As with the death penalty: why is it any better to sit in a hole, family, friends, workmates all thinking you're a criminal, your life is completely cut...?
There's no way to regain the life which was lost after 10 years. But it costs much more. much much more. (and not just in money)
I dont' agree with you on that part :-)
Coffee, where are you abouts?
I'm actually thinking we could arrange similar meetings here in Sydney too,
you can hire 13HP carts on the Eastern Creek course...altho not cheap, but heaps of fun. They even record correct laptimes and print you a result sheet (included in the price)!
Edit: sorry 13HP only...
the flatspot is usually a thinner part of the tyre. obviously at the time of occurence it'll be much hotter than the rest unless of course the whole tyre was on fire already.
so your image is perfect:
it's a hot and thin part :-)
over time the temperature evens out if you let it, but under racing conditions it's a small chance, as it's very easy to lock up on the same spot over and over again.
Then it pops. :-)
Hehe, sarsi
" I wouldn't mind seeing rFactor fail just to stick it up some of these people."
a classic :-)
I think it's doomed to fail to a certain extent.
why?
There's way too much hype around it, it simply cannot be flawless, that's near impossible. I think people will expect much more than they will get. But with no demo available, many will rush into buying it because of the extremely positive reviews...then they'll probably be midly annoyed.
I guess we'll see in a few weeks/months :-)
btw the arrogance of the fF fanbois seems to annoy me a little too...:-)
