I think you get an e-mail, but only when the "official" patch comes out. There will most likely be a Test Patch before that that won't be mentioned in an e-mail.

Of, and if it's an official patch, you will be asked to download it anyway when you start multiplayer.

10 laps is enough to know the layout of the track but certainly not enough to set fast lap times. At least if you're not an alien.

There are already several AIRIO servers that do that, and the best drivers are going to end up in MoE, IGTC, etc. anyway so there you have your ranking.
