Half off-topic, but is there any way we can still reach the old LFS News website archives? I was looking for an article there, only to find lfsnews.net now forwards to lfsworld.net
I think Vectrex has taken the old lfs news site down already. I'm not sure if he has the data still, but it's not publically viewable atm.
Tested the xml upload yesterday and it worked fine. Good work Victor

I've transfered the lfsnews.net domain name over to Victor so he owns it now

Check PM traxxion

And then the old LFS nostalgia stuff is gone?

Yes and no

You can't find it on a web page, but I still have everything on my harddrive and I will never delete it

I`m hoping that it will be up and running at some point - it`s history
The links at the top of the forum have been broken for a week or two. It looks like there is just an ampersand (&) missing between 'news' and 'nid'.
thanks. I think it's a bug in php's xml parsing function. Either way it's fixed with a workaround now.
Victor:

Do you see any issues with the RSS feed from LFS News? I am using the standard RSS feed function within Wordpress and it is showing that the LFS News RSS feed URL (http://www.lfsworld.net/feeds.php?type=news&f=0) does not output a valid RSS feed. Yet, when you navigate to that URL in a browser, you get the feed just. Is this something from your end or is this Wordpress with the error?

Seems fine - guess it's an issue with Wordpress.

Edit

This feed is valid, but interoperability with the widest range of feed readers could be improved by implementing the following recommendations.
  • line 90, column 116: description contains bad characters (2 occurrences) [help]

... nd Aston GT rev track it was #low-racing\x92s J. Scheuerle who came away wi ...
how about now?

I'm not sure what's going on with that ’ character. It seems conversion to UTF-8 is going wrong or so, so I'm manually converting it into &# 8217; to see if that makes a difference. At least it's now showing in firefox's xml reader where it wasn't before.
I don't know if there are more wrong charaters. Couldn't spot any so far anyway.

Well that validator doesn't complain anymore.
i have some questions according the results for a news.

1. atm there is a good solution to upload a propper xml-file. is there any software available to extract such a file? (from mpr's or lfsworld race results) one thought i had with this: all races are available from lfsworld, what about a way to select a past race (perhaps depending on a driver name in it or something like this)? all the data is available and could be used, or?

2. i used the interface to post some news from the OWRL. but the mpr's are all to big to upload. what is the solution, when i have a 2 hours race and want to upload the replay? not possible? (do i understand it correctly, that mpr's will be parsed for extracting the results?)

thx
i could have a look to see if importing race results from lfsworld's stored races is possible. And I'm not aware of any existing package that can export mpr results in the xml format used to upload the results to lfs news.

As for the mpr upload, that's just so ppl can download it. It's not parsed in any way. So if it's too big to upload but you want to make it available, an alternate download location will be needed.
thx for the answer no problem with the replay uploads, i was unsure about automatic analysing, this would be the only reason it would be important to upload it.
i think the easiest way to use results from lfsworld would be a possibility to export the detailed race data on lfsworld with something like a link in race datails view to export a propper xml file, which can be used as result upload for lfsnews?? this will shorten the path for authors a lot and all data can be used ???
Just posting to say I'll give it some thought in a while. Atm I'm working on something else and don't want to be distracted by another topic.
