When I said "...and some other US only series excluded", I meant ChampCar too, since it was mostly US based. Some European example would be nice.
Right now everyone is saying this is rubbish because FOTA is so awesome and everything... But think if we now had IndyCar Series World Championship, A1P World Championship, Superleague World Championship, Golden Steering Wheel World Championship... whole "World Championship" word would have been diluted long time ago. Pro boxing is pretty good example of this, altough there the four major associations are somewhat equal (?).
Nissan / Renault World Series... Champ Car World Series?
Why don't buy the name rights of Champ Car Cause it would be again the situation that one of them will die in future... Though I must say, that I'm surprised so many level 2 monoposti serieses are living at the moment:
Renault World Series, Grand Prix 2 Series, Formula 2, Grand Prix Masters...
To be serious... Grand Prix 1 would be a serious alternatvity.
The Event package could be:
Grand Prix 1
Grand Prix 2
Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup
and the FIA Event package should be "Super Racing Weekend":
Formula 1
Formula 2
A Local Formula 3 Race
WTCC
FIA GT
What did you mean, just listed series with "World" word in the name? I don't know about CCWS but Renault World Series is probably organized according to the International Sporting Code (pure guess actually, but it's just very likely) and they have probably been authorized to use the "World" word in the name.
It doesn't matter. Fact is, the FIA is only the world governing body by de facto. Its power exists only because motoring associations allow it to rule over them. As far as I'm aware, there are no statutory obligations for any motor-racing event to be organised by the FIA or under FIA's authorisation, other than the FIA's own statutes.
Of course, the practical reality is that the FIA may revoke licenses of drivers, etc. But there is really nothing to stop another organisation from naming themselves the world governing body, except resistance by existing national associations.
Therefore, FIA's regulation forbidding the use of the word, "world", in a series name is toothless if the series is governed by a body other than the FIA with claims of international governorship of motorsport. I dare say that if FOTA were to set up such a series, and create a governing body of its own, with international jurisdiction, the FIA will be hard pressed to fight it. National associations will want a stake in the new organisation, and the only sensible solution is for the FIA to set up a compromise arrangement with the new body. The FIA has no legal basis upon which to attack a series which includes the word, "world" in its name, nor does it have any ability to inhibit another organisation from running international motorsporting events.
CCWS was also organized according to the ISC. But I think this time, as it is called "World Series" does not mean that it is a world championship, just a series wich visits other tracks around the world, while world trophy, world cup or world championship implies, that the winner gets the title "world champion"
Of course. But ISC specifically talks about use of "World" word, so that includes World Series too. And of course for that it is probably a lot easier to get authorization than for World Championship...
