im once again still surprised this thread is alive, surely this thread should be locked on account of serious offtopic..ness lol
Quote from Viper93 :You would have to ride in an ACR to find out, they come with tokico adjustable struts, stiffer shock rates, and bigger sway bars from the factory than stock SRT-4's

Unfortunately none of these mean anything - it will still handle like a dog, and even with the setup perfect I very much doubt it would out-handle a Miata. But the majority of people, including tuners and car fanatics, don't know the differences between grip, adjustability, handling and speed round a lap. And then there are people that think drag times are even remotely important.
Quote from DownShift :

oh and you can get a 4AG-E redtop to 500+ HP NA so no the car wouldnt be turbo lol.

Please tell me how.
Quote : this is one boring topic

Then don't read it!
Sorry I forgot to mention the 700 foot slalom at over 70MPH. I understand perfectly well what your saying tristian, and I am saying that the SRT-4 ACR will run the same times on the track as a miata. Don't bash something just because it's FWD, which is what you are doing.
Quote from tristancliffe : And then there are people that think drag times are even remotely important.

Important to what?

It IS important if you're an accerleration junkie like me.

Obviously it won't help you much around most tracks, but let's not pretend that acceleration isn't fun for some people. There's a lot of different aspects to motorsport in general and not everyone has the same taste. Not everyone also has the time and funds to invest in their own personal race tuned vehicle of whatever nature. Just because vehicle X doesn't have the dynamic abilities of a "perfect" car, that doesn't exclude it from being a fun, desirable car that happens to run pretty good. As a kicker, it might even be somewhat practical and be able to haul more than 1.5 people at a time!
If it runs similar lap times to a Miata, with way more torque, then something must be seriously wrong with the car handling wise.

Yes I was bashing it for being FWD, but also for being American, and having a tuning bridage behind it, all of which usually means it is pants.

LOL your usually right Tristian, but I did research into cars for 3 years before I settled on this one, this engine and driveline is awesome from the factory, with both rated for over 350, comes with an oil/water heat exchanger to keep oil temps down and faster warmup, power steering cooler, and ofcourse an 8 row intercooler. The car also comes with a LSD differential. There are people running these 2.4 liter engines past 500 HP http://video.google.com/videop ... 8174344739800&q=srt-4 I have heard people running 600WHP but I have not seen any prouf yet.

What the car does not have is the powersliding capabilities that the miata has but for me thats more than offset by the 30MPG and the ability to hold 5 for long hauls, child seat restraints, the huge trunk with fold-down seats( I once hauled 8 foot sections of PVC pipe in my car with the trunk down) And the icing was a base price of just over 20K USD. And then there is the powerband, they did such a nice job tuning that even with the turbo the powerband is linear =)
how about i go out and buy a nitro powered RC car that can go over 100+ mph and beat both your butts at autocross

.. now theres a challenge
RC car at autocross vs a car
LOL the nitro car I have only does 45 with a two speed tranny. does some wicked powerslides though =)

Actually, there is a video out there, I think somewhere on streetfire.net of an RC car getting beaten by an WRC Imprezza on a (dreadfully simple) autocross.

We both know that's just blowing smoke. The Miata is way smaller and weighs much less (~700lbs less... serious difference). So in that case, being a "brute heavy" FWD monster, that's pretty impressive actually.

Don't get me wrong, I despise Dodge, and most american cars for the same reasons generally as you....

The SRT-4 is (was, figures they stopped making something good) a massive exception to the generalities of the american auto industry. It's well designed and very well implemented!

I agree 100%, in general american cars are not designed as well as they could, the SRT-4 is an exception to this rule. hence why I am now a proud owner =)
i saw a dodge viper beat a hotwheels car down a very long track on mythbusters yesterday lol, just thought i would tell this useless information

actually it was pretty interesting, they tested it at lake tahoe down this road that has quite a downhill slope, and the hotwheels car beat the viper until the 100 ft marker

oh, i should probably say, this was just gravity pulling both, the viper was rolling down like the hotwheels car was; im still surprised it caught up so fast

as for cars related to this thread, a viper, i dont know all that much about it, but i do love the streamline shape of them (especially the GTS-R lol like.. everyone else )
as for a miata, nice car, they just arent very widespread in atlanta as they used to be, i dont think i see but 1 or none on a daily commute to school (and thats a goo 45 minute drive [drive.. not sitting lol]), and i dont know about you guys, but the new miata.. i cant say the headlights and tailights fit it to well, they are to small :/ i liked the generation before the newest one
Say what you will about an SRT-4, but I'd take one over a Miata anyday.

Whenever I see a guy driving a Miata, I feel sorry for him. :P

Why, exactly is that?
Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :Actually, there is a video out there, I think somewhere on streetfire.net of an RC car getting beaten by an WRC Imprezza on a (dreadfully simple) autocross.

and theres a video of another simple autoX course where a Focus WRC is beaten by a RC car with the same body...
Quote from KillerMonkey :Why, exactly is that?

TBH... I have no idea why.
Errrmmm.. Not that i want to step on the cats tail, but what on earth has this topic got to do with "Unofficial Addons", it started as someone asking for the least required thing in this game, and went to people comparing American Muscle to European Spec cars

I live in europe, i have wanted a Mustang Fastback my entire life, american muscle is the best type of muscle.

Yes European cars can turn and grip alot better, but at the end of the day, i don't want a car to whip some guys ass who has a SRT-4.

I like what cars i want to, but American Muscle will always tickle my taste buds.

I once (ONLY ONCE ) seen a Camero SS i think it was, in my home town here in Ireland, the car was so damn loud, it was the best sound i have ever heard in my life.

The car was so loud it rumbled and echo's down the street. From that day i have wanted to pull up in town and rev one of them damn cars!

I also would love a Nissan Skyline, and a 180SX.

Feel free to grill me, but at the end of the day i don't care what YOU think of my personell preferance.

I ain't gonna let someone tell me my car isn't "Amazing", i don't care if it is or not, if i love my car then i will drive it.

Whether it is a SRT-4 or a Miata WHO cares? illepall

I understand alot of people here really compete in Drift or Auto X and Track Day competitions and fair juice to them, im happy for you's, i would love to take a car to any of them events.

Before you ask what i drive, i drive NATHA thing, i havn't got a car, i was gonna buy a Toyota Supra online from someone.

But i met a problem, here in ireland we have "Little Boy Racers" in america they are called "Ricers", they race around all day on the streets and because of this childish behaviour the insurance for me in a Toyota Supra would be about 10k, i wouldn't even get insurance on a American Muscle car.

What i am getting at is this,

You want to put a Body Kit on your car? Go ahead, you want to flame someone for having a body kit then you do so, but remember that its personell preferance.

Its like Drifting is not a sport and yadda yadda, who cares? I want to drift around a corner then i will, but i have one firm believe.

You want to Drift? Then join a DRIFT server, theres loads of them.
You want to Race? Then join a RACE server, theres loads of them to.
You want to Auto X, YOU GET MY POINT!...

Don't grill someone for having fun, let them do what they want to do.

Anyway as for the original topic.

NOS? No get out of my face, if you need nos, then you need driving lessons, why do people buy Artificial power for there damn cars?

Get a Intercooler, get a Turbo, get whatever you want, but please do not join the NFS and F&F generation of drivers.

As for impressing girls with cars, as was mentioned abit back, if a girl is shallow enough to pick you for your car, will she make you dinner and take care of you when your sick? Ehh no she won't.

I have respect for the people who do there own thing, but i will not show respect to those who stop people from doing there own thing.

The only post needed in this thread was the second post, simply stating there will be no nos as of yet.

Im sorry but if you want nos in a game go get NFS, i understand this game is the ultimate simulator, and i agree totally, but if you can't win driving a car in this game without tapping a button to get more speed, then get another hobbie.

PS: Please don't flame me, im just voicing opionion, and yes i talk alot of nonsence

Regards,
Sinister747
I didn't read that entire post, only the first few lines of it. And I think this thread is getting more worthless the longer it gets.

You know what my car is... That I'd love to have? A Ford Mondeo... My dad has one, my brother in law has one, they aren't ugly, they can be fast enough, I mean, what are all your big horses for if you can't even use them? Don't know about you guys, but I would drive on the road, so I don't care if it can go 250, the excitement in driving fast is in the accelerating anyways. A friend and I drove over the highway, 220KP/H (max of the car), and it didn't feel exciting at all... But if we're stopped at a red light, and he kicks it into gear and you fly off with screeching tyres... That's exciting.

And on the track... If you really want to race a car, in the end, what brand and shape the car is, it's just a shell, any car can beat any car if it's just tuned right. Best example is that Smart, it can beat anything, it just needs the right adjustments. So why the hell nag about where the best cars come from? I really don't get this!
I didn't read all of your post, but I think I agree with it. As always everything I post is solely my opinion. I agree with my opinion, and I stick to it very strongly, and I am not averse to making my opinion known, even if it sparks a flame war against me.

I don't like rice. I don't like body kits. I don't like FWD from a 'sports' point of view, I don't like [most] American cars, I don't like Turbo conversions, I don't like drag racing road cars, and I don't like Nitrous Oxide unless it is being used as a charge cooling tool to prevent detonation with high compression ratios, retarded ignitions or something. If YOU (a general you this time, not directed at one single person) then I don't hate you, I just feel sorry for you. But as I am a weirdo on the internet it doesn't actually matter. If you have a different opinion then I love to hear it, whether I agree or not - opinions are best when people have different ones.

As for this topic going from ricer requests to American vs European/Japanese cars I think it's brilliant personally. It's one big ranty thread where the topic goes with the flow. If you read every post we've covered a vast and bizarre array of topics, some of which are silly, others serious, and yet others are deeply meaningful.

Until this thread gets locked I think we'll see it evolve even further and repeatedly bumped - keep it up. I think it's a great thread!

whats more exciting? 450 Mph in a plane or 100 Mph in a 7?
Nos sucks unless you own a boosted Honduh!!! i own one but not boosted.
..bet that car suffers from chassis warping lol

cant really watch videos down here in bahamas, the speed is like.. 13k lol, what time did it get though?
