The online racing simulator
Indianapolis 500 Evolution: Vote for it on steam!
The first line got me excited "Imagine you are the engineer of your own racing destiny during the birth of modern racing" sounded like you would design and build your own car to compete with. Nuts.

Still, I love that era (not really for Indy, but racing in general)

still has a long way to go i guess

I played this on Xbox. It's not good.

It has a lot of content but it drives kinda bad.
Not sure if its the same exact game as i had a similar game on the wii which was actually really fun
It's been updated
Hey Guys...

I have worked on this game and it's been updated - a lot - from the Xbox version.

Basically IMS came to Brain in a Jar and offered us the license (the original US publisher had gone).

So we took the game on and have 'rebooted' it.

Much improved car physics with proper force feedback wheel support.
Improved car dashboard views
Improved menu system
Added car tuning
and added 33 player multiplayer

Once we get a 'greenlight' so we can get the Steam SDK and get it integrated we're going to want to do a LOT of private Beta testing.
So if anyone is interested in helping us make it as great as we can just let me know. =D

At the moment I don't think any votes are 'showing up' on the progress. At one time we went to 1% then back to 0% and we've seen it with other games as well. I don't think Steam know what the 'go' criteria is going to be yet.
Looks pretty good so far. Guaruntee you will get beta testers from here ill have to vote shortly
Voted but I think you need many more !

Do you need steam to release it or could it be crowdsourced ?

Bit like muso's and record labels really.

Sounds good, looks like you guys addressed the issues I had with it.

Good luck with Greenlight. As an indie-hobby-student-dev, popularity contest style game selection scares the living hell out of me. I really hope Greenlight doesn't turn into a Tweet, Facebook and marketing team faceoff.
"Thanks for helping this game get closer to release on Steam!"
So yes, did vote
BigShox, what will the cost of the game be? Does it reach into modern indy car? Will there be new tracks available or mods.
Thanks Guys, we appreciate all the help we can get!

The pricing hasn't been decided yet, we're taking a one step at a time approach. So the first step is to get it accepted!

The next step will be to integrate all the Steam SDK elements (Matchmaking, achievements, friends invites, leaderboards etc etc) and beta test the living daylights out of it.

While doing that we'll be working on the rendering more (based on feedback) to get it looking as good as possible.
Adjusting the base set-ups of the cars to get the handling right (it's very easy to get 'used' to something when your running a car over and over and over).
Making the multiplayer lobby and races rock solid.
Lots - lots to do after we get a 'greenlight'... that part is just the start.

Funding-wise we are covered. Essentially we are funding it ourselves. Everyone here is dedicating a lot of thier extra time to it.

Back on the final price... we'll be canvasing everyone that get's involved in the beta. We're going to be open to all ideas, from a fixed price to free-to-play (with in-game purchases). We want to do our best to get it right.

The game goes from 1961 to 1971 (which was a pretty exciting time).
If it goes well the possibility is there of doing more years, but IMS want to see how this goes first, which is understandable.

Thanks for the info.

Just one thing that I want to ask.
If we touch wheels with another car, will we get airborn? This has been a feature that ALMOST NONE of the open wheel games ever made have. It would be a very nice feature, and will add to the realism.

So, I heard this was Brain In A Jar that made this game? Aren't you guys currently working the Wii version of Nascar The Game: Inside Line? Care to share some screenies?
I would recommend making your own way to make a livery that you can run throughout the decade. Whether it be a photoshop template or ingame area. This way theres all the other teams, then you as an addition.

Imo maybe have a hardcore/expert mode where in hardcore you can do the wheel contact and flip but in expert same physics just no flipping.
As for the beta just let me know I would love to assist you guys.

Same here. I personally believe I am a great beta tester. I haven't done much of it, because I am never had the opportunities, but I am a very curious person, and I think that is one of the keys to being a good beta tester!
Any idea of the system requirements?

Touching wheels can make you airborn (depending on the contact).

Yeah - we are Brain in a Jar. We're just finishing the Wii version of NASCAR The Game: Inside Line for Eutechnyx. I can't share any pics right now (don't have any back from approval yet), but as soon as we do I'll put some up
Quote from Inouva :Any idea of the system requirements?

Something around this area:

Minimum specifications:

OS: Windows XP SP 3

CPU: 2 GHZ AMD/Intel

Memory: 512 MB

Video Card memory : equal or more than 128 MB

DirectX: DX 9.0C (pixel shader 3)

Sound: Direct Sound

Recommended specifications:

OS: Windows 7 / Vista /XP

CPU: Intel C2D 2.0Ghz, AMD X2 64 2.4Ghz

Memory: 2 GB

Video Card memory : equal or more than 256 MB

DirectX: DX 9.0C (pixel shader 3)

Sound: Direct Sound

We want to have as wide a 'catch' as possible, but not hobble it too much.

Ok. How long should the approval process take?

Now if we could convince them to make a pc version (assumin physics are better this year)...
Bump, any news?
Hey guys,

So we are now 36% of the way there (according to Steam).

Early next week we'll be updating the games page with new images and video in an attempt to push our votes higher =)
We're also going to start a discussion page on Steam for ideas, wishlists and comments as we're thinking of also starting a Kickstarter campaign (when it goes live in the UK at the end of this month - no more having to have a US bank account). We'd like to add online championships and a livery editor, amoung a few other things...

...and we're keen to find out what other people would like to see in our 'historic racer'.
