My new daily driver. Sold the Cossie looker and bought something in little more original condition. '89 Sierra 1.6 (carburated Emax Pinto powah). It's quite mint in and out, little things here and there but pretty perfect for something I payed 600 euros. Quite the time machine actually, shame that the original radio/cassette player only worked for two days.
Pictures don't make justice, didn't have a change to photo it when it was all clean and shiny two weeks ago, but these have to do for now.

I still harker after a 4 door Sierra (was it the Sapphire?). Something about them just tweaks my nipples.

That thing on the side of the transmission tunnel is an inner heater. Pretty much must have in Finnish winter. It is wired from the block heater, so when you put them on hour before drive, the engine isn't freezing cold and the inner heater has cleared the windows from ice and snow.

Sapphire is the nickname for the 4-door Sierras yes. This is actually my fourth 3door Sierra, but first of the second generation. Well ok it's my fourth car, only have owned/own these.
The designer of the Sierra claims he got styling cues from the 928 (most visible in the 3 door apparently).
They are defiantly an enthusiast car these days. You either like them or you don't. Bit like my love of the Ford Escort Mk6. Not everyone gets it, but they twitch my nether. Especially the vans.
Close, it was the older 3-door model with the rear quarter window that was meant to look like the 928's. The designer explains it in Top Gear season 1 episode 3.
The one Matrixi posted is a mk1 model. think its an XR4i 3 door going by the rear spoiler stack. Cosworth 3door had a slightly different layout and was on the mk2/facelift.
This one looks like it's the USA model, Merkur XR4Ti. Very similar to the European Sierra XR4i, but different engine (turbo US Pinto). The legendary whaletale Cossie you guys are talking about, was made from the mk1 Sierra. Mk2 had a Cossie too, but this is the more conservative looking 4-door Sapphire, a "Taxi-Cossie" as we Finns call it.
Oh and about Eclipsed mentioning the word "coupe", Sierra's never were coupe, just hatchbacks. The styling of the 3dr just seem to make people describe it as a coupe.
I won't be swapping the head, just don't see much point in it. However I'm planning on building a 2.0 Pinto with a little more poke. But this is only happening if I have any money and energy left after my main project car is ready for the hoonings of summer 2013.
Bearing failure on aux belt tensioner. Which was awesome as that belt powers the PAS and water pump (plus a few others). And the belt flapping around dislodged the pipe from the oil cooler. I was able to plug the oil cooler leak on the road side, but that tensioner has had it.
