On my first go at XRT/Fe Club I was ready to curl up in fetal position and weep after going wide +50 km/h in T1 about ten times in a row while my brain tried to figure out which limb to move.
Heel-toe and H-gate rawks!
EDIT: Oh yeah and new PBs are coming in on whatever combo I join!
I dont think you will ever be as fast as you were useing manual gears as padles are so much faster to shift with....I know i will be trying it out when mine comes and useing it as some fun but to compete i dont think i will use it.
I know I will be LOADS slower with it, but I don't care
I just have to accept it, of course i would be faster in real car too if it had gear paddles and clutch on a wheel button. BTW I'm expecting to get my copy within 7 days. :icon23:
Considering I drive a manual car every day, I can not believe how alien it was to use the G25 at first. I'd go into a corner, but instead of braking, i'm dipping the clutch... AAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH.
Stupid left foot, just sit there till I want to change gear. As for right foot, move your lazy ASS onto the brake instead of milling about on the throttle!!!! FFS How hard can it be.
Seriously though, the immersion factor has now shot up!!!
I can't wait for Scawen to code in engine, clutch and gearbox failures.
ATM there would be a constant flow of cogs and engine internals in my wake.
Nice. All I have to wait for now is my parents to send it up the other end of the country when it arrives. Damn them for only delivering to my card holder address.
Now there isn't a date anymore for the wheel, nor does it say in stock. For someone else it more or less says that the wheel is being prepared for being shipped. WHY cant it be my wheel that is that?!
Mines arrived. And, despite using my home address as it was my first order with Gameseek, the clever postman (who knows me) meant it was waiting on my chair at work at 9am. Hurrah.
Unpacked it already (even though my desk is now full of G25 bits), and in some ways it's great (the wheel feels nice, quite like the paddles, the shifter unit is good, and the pedals are lovely. But everything feels a bit plasticky.
If there was one thing that bothers me slightly, its the click noise when changing gear, very loud. Hoping it wont disturb the wife to much whilst she is watching CSI!!
EDIT: Watch your fingers on the ends of the paddles, mine are quite sharp/rough in places.
know what you mean about the Clutch, i rest my foot on the clutch (just like you should IRL), and im used to resting my foot on the brake. Come to a corner, push it and crash!
I've posted my problem else where, but have just come across your post by mistake.
How are you getting the sequential shifter to work on the FZR. I have changed my script from road to sequential, but for some reason, the GTR cars are not responding to the sequential change. The daft thing is the FOX and MRT are by default set to sequential and work fine?
I was going to post late last night, and again this morning, but everything you've written so far is what I've been thinking
I'm very impressed with it from my few hours on it last night - much more solid feeling than the Momo. The wheel is smooth, strong and precise, and making fast movements is now possible without too much effort+noise (more critical with RBR than LFS so far). The only thing I miss about the old wheel is the thickness of the rim, which somehow felt more appropriate for the Formula cars - I'm sure I'll get over that in no time, considering how good it is with everything else.
Pedals are good and solid too, and the extra weight seems to help stop it slipping around as much as the old one did on occasions (mine is half on carpet, half on chair mat). The clutch is quite short, and my rushed changes have meant I sometimes still miss the odd gear change, but that's my own fault. Brake and accelerator feel about right for resistance too.
The shifter clicking is a bit loud, and probably means I still won't be able to play with my missus trying to sleep next door. The paddles feel solid, but require a touch more effort to push and (so far) don't have quite the same instant feedback for multiple changes as the Momo.
I do really like the extra immersion from it, even if it will mean I'll probably be a bit slower for a while. Still plenty more practice needed...
