Quote from Jakg :how much money you got? if i were ye, and ye had a PCI-e slot i would wait for the 8600's

Phew, I am not going to spend hundreds

Got a lot to pay for at moment, such as a car is in order along with other things
Budget cards that would play TDU well? (better then my 6200 of course!) Maybe a 6800GT or some, but thats on the boarder line I believe to run TDU
Quote from Jakg :1 GB works fine here (what i have), but the one you linked to only seemed to have 512 Mb of RAM

ah no your wrong there, it says ......512mb RAM (2stücks)

the 8600 should come out at about £100-£120

Define a budget and i'll recomend a card

Ok il define the large word category of budget
Erm anything in £50-60, if not £60 to £100

If they are no good, then il stretch a bit more for a 8600! I could look around my self but I am sitting in the living room being lazy, and when there is Jakg around to help! Who needs the Internet Search buttons are not needed with Jack here

Jack Jack, where is Birmingham? Jack Jack, where is your picture in Post your face?
GFX Quality update...

Getting fed up with the poor gfx, so I thought I'd try something radical...I downloaded those Xtreme drivers mentioned earlier...O/C'd my card to the 'optimal' settings (let nVidia decide ), then stuck the game in 1280x960 with 2xAA and 2xAF...texture settings on high....in other words everything they tell you NOT to do...and guess what?

Runs like a dream!!
ATM my poor little 6600GT is running at about 65-70 deg C, which isnt _too_ hot, but I might blow some of the dust off the fan tomorrow and see if it brings the temp down a bit...

I have a 256Mb Inno 3D GeForce 7600GS which I got for £70 online then overclocked it with ATiTool. It runs TDU at High 1024x768 fine without HDR on an AMD 3200+ and 1GB RAM.
Optimal is never high enough, grab ATi Tool and do it the "old fashioned way" - its 2 hours of tinkering to find the best settings but worth it!

75-80 degrees is where things start to overheat, so thats fine!

If i were you i would up the AF, on a 7-series card it barely affects FPS, and on a 6-series cards it only does it marginally

If, and thats a BIG if, they were to release a AGP version of the 8600 then I would be very interested, but seeing as there is more chance of having a snowball fight with Old Nick himself in his living room, then a 8600 is way over my budget, cos I would need to buy a new mobo/cpu/ram to plug it into, and for a complete bundle I am looking at about £400, plus the cost of the card...bit too much for my wallet at tne mo
they were talking about it, but if keep making AGP stuff AGP will never sodding die!

Theres a 7950GT in AGP though...

Still waiting for your recommendation Jackie

Sounds good! Might look at them there cards
£50-£60? 6800 Ultra? 7600GT used?
Quote from Jakg :£50-£60? 6800 Ultra? 7600GT used?

Oh right, prefer not used but if necessary of course!
Not really looked at Graphics cards lately, dont really need it day to day

So a 7600GS say the 512MB version, is that better or as good as a 7600GT at 256mb?
i think the GT is better then like in the 6 and 7 series GT, GTX etc.. are the best....not?
i wouldnt waste money upgrading a pc just for this game. It gets old kinda quick.
Quote from jamesrowe :So a 7600GS say the 512MB version, is that better or as good as a 7600GT at 256mb?

512 mb memory is only needed if you play at REALLY high resolutions (that the 7600GS would have trouble doing), or to enable "Super-High Textures" in some games, but then the 7600GS wouldn't be able to keep up anyway, overall, go for the 7600GT

iirc someone is selling a 7600GT + Zalman VF900 fan (THE best air cooler on the market, and quiet!) for £60 on eBay, its new and ripe for overclocking!

Quote from Scrabby :i think the GT is better then like in the 6 and 7 series GT, GTX etc.. are the best....not?

LE<XT<GS<Vanilla<GT<GTS<GTO<Ultra<GTX

LE = Lame Edition, do NOT buy
XT = Value range (ATi's top end cards at XT's, so nVidia took it and made it the cheap one!)
Vanilla = just a 6600
GT = Your best bet (usuaully)
GTS = GT with either higher clocks slower than a GTX
GTO = GT with more memory, but slightly looser timings (ie 7900GTO) which makes it a little slower
Ultra usually = a GT with higher clocks (so you could overclock a GT to those speeds usually) - this model used to be called an Ultra, but they now call it a GTX
GTX usually = a GT with higher clocks (so you could overclock a GT to those speeds usually) - this model used to be called an Ultra, but they now call it a GTX

XT, Ultra and Vanilla aren't used any more
Anyone else getting terrible lag/stutter when using a wheel ?
If I unplug it and use the keyboard it runs flawlessly
John was, if i leave a joystick plugged in i get the same - the atari forums say this is rife

Some do, I have not problems. This again is one of bugs that was in beta.
Quote from Bean0 :Unsolved from the closed and open betas, POS company

like i said ... check out the modified date on the exe and think about how many of the bugs from the closed beta were fixed
Quote from Shotglass :like i said ... check out the modified date on the exe and think about how many of the bugs from the closed beta were fixed

True and only way to this kind of crap releasing to stop is to stop buying game that is released such way even it would be very nice game and send message to publisher that you are not buying product because it is released with all bugs in it.

But of course that won't happen, people buy, company bosses smiles as they could get more profits and nothing changes.
Some people firmly believe in 'try before you buy'
