Fully agree with Mandula, lfs does indeed need this.
I could agree that there wasn't much demand of these features before as the community trusted lazy, and other programs for such things, but I think it would be a shame to have a racing sim with nice graphics, physics and a quite outdated time related system.
If those suggestions really get implemented in the future, i also want you to consider more usage of a gui for these, commands are still useful but when you start to add all this information, a player shouldn't lose too much time to remember all the commands, should start to be more intuitive with a few clicks.
Of course i'm no programmer or gui designer or whatever, but i think there's plenty of examples in the racing sim world that you would be able to understand how the system could look and behave. Also, don't forget about lfs world
I don't think this is related to downloading mods, but when someone in server joins the track with a mod (even if already in use by others, the game stutters quite badly, this might be cause by high poly or maybe high res dds but can't this stutter be fixed somehow or is there a cause ? When multiple cars join and leave track with a mod during practice it gets very bad. I know it's a vague request but considering that lfs is heading towards higher quality everything, such stutters for a car shouldn't be this bad in my opinion.
The game also stutters when a skin is downloaded but compared to what i've experienced with mods its very minor.
Another bug is the fact that cars now move completely when changing ride height in box for some resason, not only mods but also official lfs cars (not shown in video).
Again, on the subject of bikes, some "bug" are present.
In box, in steering option parrallel steer slider is still avaiable.
In tyres setting the asymmetric option is still avaiable.
Speaking of back view, i think back view shouldn't be based on center of vechicle but probably be set in editor as a different view position of some sort. An example is bikes but also single seaters that just show the wall behind the driver.
Updated to version 3, please check changelog for further info
I'm trying to work on this mod when I have time and I'm not really fast as I am still learning the LFS editor on the way.
Please leave feedback about it's driving, suggestions.
The mod is still long way from finished, visually speaking especially, I have many things in mind for it, we will see
Hm, i really need to do some further research to know what the gearbox really is. Thought sequential wouldnt really fit with these trucks, especially with 3 gears. I will probably keep it H pattern still. Thanks for the inof tho
This is a mod that i started way back when modeller first came out in public basically.
It's based on the super stadium trucks.
Considering the time, the mod isn't really much detailed. I am planning to continue the progress of it when i have free time.
Engine (not the sound of it) and suspensions are for now, in my opinion, quite official.
I haven't put a setup in the mod yet but i will post it below here. The setup is in the mod itself.
The truck specs are:
-6.3L V8 engine, N/A outputting 600bhp @6331rpm and 727NM torque @4872rpm
-1269kg with no load
-315 70 R15 tyres, outer diameter of 34,6 inches, all wheels
-80 liter fuel tank
-rear wheel drive only
-long travel suspentions, mcperson front and trailing arm rear
-full disc brakes
-3 gears sequential gearbox (will be converted to H-pattern in the next version)
Known things:
-low quality model
-unfinished rollcage -no setup loaded into the mod(Version 2) Mod now comes with a new setup besides default, "stadium_spec" it's basically the same set that I've posted in this thread -no H-pattern gearbox(Version 2) Changed from sequential to H-Pattern Gearbox
-misaligned calipers
-bad engine sound -non flippable dashboard -basic interior basically missing -slicks not excluded from the tyre options(Version 2) Tyres are now limited to knobbly, hybrid, road_normal and road_super.
Please comment below what is missing/has to be fixed, suggestions for the mod
For now this is the post about it, I will make it more detailed going forward.
This is more of a request than a mod idea, modders please don't just focus on looks, cars need to be driveable aswell so have a good look in the mass layers and such
I got a question regarding f9 menu.
Since mods will basically allow cars with smaller tyres than usual, like for the kart, and bigger tyres, like the nascar prototype or even some kind of monster truck, how will the f9 menu adapt to it ?
Will it be a mess of numbers overlapping the thread like with the formula XR (thats annoying when trying to understand tyre life pls fix it) or will it be fixed/adapted for these possibilities ? This might sound picky but for races long races tyre life is quite important to know.
I'm not scawen but i did a very quick test to check what my internet usage would be. I did it in TC driving with at least 20 cars driving on track.
As you can see the bandwidth usage is very low and the spike you see is probably from skin downloading when I joined.
I doubt you would not be able to have an hotspot that could satisfy these requirements. What you really need to worry about is ping, but as soon as you find the good spot and dont move i don't think you will have major problems.
This probably isn't really useful but in short, lfs can run good on any connection as long as it is stable.
I've heard people have a stutter in the game when someone leaves the pits, would this increase of "quality" worsen this stutter in the case someone leaves the pits with a mod that has more quality than any other lfs car for example? My pc does this stutter too but my pc is literally a disgusting slow machine .
Another question is about CMX viewer, will it be upgraded to implement these new mods ? When doing a skin i always use CMX to see the result and i guess it should be the same for mods.
Where do you go to not have 4g avaiability or internet at all ? LFS does not rely on incredible fast connection to work properly, unless you are moving while the guys are using the simulator you wont have much problems with a 4g hotspot from a mobile modem (not your phone).
You will have more lag, yes, but it wont destroy others with lag as if you are connecting to an european server from America..
I find it silly to give up and not even consider a way around this, but do as you wish.
