Wills himself (now 6) does try from time to time. Auto gears all the way, sometimes just round the car park, but he will occasionally try a lap of south city & make it round without too many crashes...

Let him enjoy the GT5 'demo' if he wants to. There is more to life than LFS. My son (Wills, obviously) 6, really likes GT4.

So, are the days gone when the instant a car enters the pits, the first thing that happens is the tyres getting prodded with a heat probe? (after they've been changed in a race, obviously).

Quote from mrodgers :Speaking of which, haven't seen 'dad' in ages....

Err, if that's me you're referring to then yes, I'm still around, just not very often these days.

Wills himself is getting better in single player mode though still isn't ready to race carbon based life forms.

Oh, I'm the wrong side of 40 too.

Quote from thisnameistaken :Pfft! I'll be impressed when you control the car using only the power of the human mind.

Quote from March Hare :Well you have to admit that drifting takes a whole lot more skill than burnouts.

Drifting off topic...

Anyone remember when Top Gear got three rocket scientists (real, proper bona fide rocket scientists with PhDs in Physics & the like) to see if they could do burnouts. iirc only one of the three managed it.

There is a version for GPL - not sure how accurate(I don't know Cadwell) though.

Historically, the green stuff would have been grass (or mud). More recently it's become 'grasscrete' (concrete with holes in it planted with something resembling grass) or coloured concrete. I still think it's not part of the track (or curb). OTOH, the curb is part of the track.

I'd say you're off the track there - all four wheels are well outside (inside, depending on your pov) the curb.

So anyone tried the piano mod yet?

I did but as I'm only a demo user on the piano so I only got three keys. Then with the latest version, the devs took away 'b flat' and gave me 'd sharp' instead so now all my tunes won't play

Isn't the oval track supposed to be in Japan? Wouldn't that make it SEASCAR (south east asia stock car association racing....)

With a 5 year old car I reckon if you get away with a total bill of under £100 you should be doing OK.

I normally use the 'wheels' type view but am in favour of forced cockpit view - it's particularly useful for league racing for a flatter playing field.

It's an option - if I join a race with fcv I always have the choice of joining with fcv or leaving & going somewhere else.

Quote from duke_toaster :Yes.

Theoretically, Scawen, Eric and Vic could get a train to Birmingham (not recommended), and get the SuperPrix circuit in LFS - no-one owns a trademark on the name of a city or town.

Virgin trains aren't that bad...

No, race cars don't have radios. I'd be happy to see the horn removed as well (race cars don't have them either).

Quote from Jakg :to Insure a Mini, from 1991, if i were 17 today would cost me £1972 per year.

For my Dad's Vauxhall Omega it's £8,000

Check your facts first

So, there are some advantages to being the wrong side of 40... not many granted, but sensible insurance premiums is one of the few...
