I've never advertised our server, so let's do it now.
We at Dead Men Racing drive one combo for one week and change it after having 1h race at thursday night. I don't know any drifters or cruisers after being an active member for about a year now. Check our latest combos: http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=248
I use 22" 1680x1050 in the middle and two 15" 1024x768 on sides. It seems that SoftTH draws three 1680x1050 images and then just fits the original image to the lower resolution. It's not perfect, but I don't care, because the most important thing is to get a wider view to see the other racer in a tight situation.
I think you should use the original screen resolution for each monitor and just tell SoftTH which resolution each monitor has, and it will then fit images accordingly.
Is this the quality that can be expected with 8800GT and with the settings on the post #1? This is anyways what I get, and honestly I think it's terrible. Especially lamp and flag poles do look bad, they are flickering like there was no AA at all.
I've had a HD3850 card, and there the quality was very smooth. ATI is good with adaptive and temporal AA. With this 8800GT I can get it nearly as good looking if I put heavy Supersampling AA, but then the performance is too bad. I've used drivers from 169.xx to 174.74.
I had very little online laps just because of that, until I found a good team server. I went there pretty often, and was asked to join the team. Since that I've been learning lots of combos and have been able to concentrate on performing better. You need home (team) to feel like home.
As a workaround you could use SoftTH and force AA and AF with it. This does not mean that you would need to use 2 or 3 monitors, it will work ok if you have just 1 screen.
I'm having this same problem, started annoying me only recently after upgrading from R9700 to HD3850. I'm not sure if I had it before. Is this what you all see or do you have stuff drawn all the time?
I have HD3850 which had same problems. Problem was solved by updating the BIOS for the motherboard. The motherboard is an Asrock with VIA PT880 chipset. The new PCIe 2.0 was not properly supported by the MB and it was fixed in the new bios. I also reinstalled the windows and put in the newest Catalyst drivers 8.1, so I did not really test what the bios did alone.
At the same time I got rid of AA problems that I had had.
I have exactly the same problem. I took the card back to the shop, where they tested it, and said it was ok. They claimed I had a bad PSU and I bought a new, but it did not help. Let's see whats happening next.
Description: updateSome customers have mentioned that even with the maximum values allowed by the utility, their wheel still remains slightly off center. Therefore, the utility has been updated so that you can enter higher values. Even after installing WingMan® software version 4.11c or later, some users have reported a slight offset in the centering of their MOMO®Force wheels. This means that if you were to turn the wheel completely to the left, then completely to the right, and then release the wheel, it would not appear to be centered with respect to the base. This utility will allow users to "tweak" the center position of the wheel.
New card will for sure make a big difference. You want to have at least 4xAA plus other quality features. I recommend you to do some reading on the forums regarding ATI problems with AA before making a decision.
I have a 3850 and performance wise it works ok, almost never drops below 60fps, but I have not gotten AF nor AA working in LFS. Driver version is 7.11.
Hmm.. How do you mean exactly? I have a box with about 16 buttons that I use for various kinds of commands in game. It is made of an old USB gamepad and a plastic project box. LFS detects it as a regular game controller.
Performance is ok but the quality is not. No matter what the quality settings are on the Catalyst Control Center it uses the ugly default settings in LFS: no AA, no AF. With the older Radeon 9700 I could force the settings after the LFS was launched with a hotkey combination, but it does not work anymore.
I've lived about 28 years in Finland, 5 in Sweden and a few months in England. In my opinion what is worse in Finland compared to these countries is peoples manners. In England and Sweden when you meet a stranger he/she will most probably be polite and friendly, but in Finland people tend to be reserved. But that will usually change once the ice melts. However that has an influence on everyday life, since in a big town you will meet a lot of stranges all the time.
In Sweden people tend to have a friendly and warm attitude towards you unless they see a reason for disliking you. In Finland however too many people have "who are you" attitude until they get to learn and trust you. But I have a feeling that it's changing slowly with new generations.
How much AA do you have? I got a defective HD3850 and I thought to change it to 8600GT if it is that good with LFS. It would just need to run with 4xAA and at least 8xAF at 1680x1050.
