This thread is really quite a coincidence. I say this because as I was AutoX'ing with the LX this week, I found myself doing exactly this technique subconsciously! I didn't know professional drivers did it too. And it really did help make fine movements such as going through the slaloms! Very cool.
Thanks for the info, all of you. I did some reading, and the springs I have my eye on don't slam your ride. They have a sport version (slightly lower) and a race version (slammed, which they specifically recommend getting new shocks for). I'm looking at the sports, and you'll maybe get somehwere around a .75 inch drop. I'm thinking this should be alright with stock shocks
Just a quick question for you gearheads. I am thinking of putting some shorter "sport" shocks on my BMW 323i. I don't have a sporty shock system, so I was wondering if there are any dangerous effects of using sport springs with the softer, stock shocks. Thanks!
You are most likely missing practice and a bit of natural skill. I say natural skill because, no matter how much most of us practice, we still probably will never be able to touch the WRs.
I'm pretty sure it's a reprint of what they have in the actual paper. I also recall seeing a section like this a long time ago when I read papers more frequently (I never read them anymore).
Yeah, who cares about silly things such as different wheels that actually look realistic? In fact, let's just ask the developers to go back to early S1 style graphics, since looks don't matter at all anyway and definitely don't add to overall enjoyment...right?
Great updates with U15! I love the new restricted areas feature in autoX. It's sure to keep everyone honest. However, I have a request. Instead of adding a minute onto the time after entering a restricted zone, would it be possible to simply DNF (did not finish) the driver at the end of the run? Going into a restricted zone means leaving the proper course, and autocrosses make use of the DNF for that reason, so I think it makes sense.
Unfortunately, it was converted to digital in Windows Movie Maker, so it's only in .wmv, and I haven't found a way to convert it. However, here is an external link:
Yeah, you're right, but I think the US has more...life...along the way. Maybe not with the route that showed up with Google maps, but if you travel from Florida, through the southern states, up through California with your final destination in Seattle, you'd have a lot of places to go to/stay/see along the way. Plus that would be a longer trip as well! Hehe
As much as I love driving, my biggest hobby is kung fu, so I wanted to share with you guys a movie we made...
Some of the members of my kung fu school and I made a short film about 4 years ago, in 2002. We shot it in one day, and it was basically a project for two guys who were into filmmaking and also happened to be students at the school (they are not in the film). It's been on VHS for all these years until a few days ago when I picked up a video grabber that converts analog to digital. So I finally got the movie digitized and uploaded on youtube.com. Anyway, take a look and enjoy.
This is really amazing. Good work! You must release that track builder program you're working on! If you can get it to be clean and user-friendly, it would really streamline AutoX course building. I'm very impressed.
Great work! I feel like I'm driving the 2nd generation, 2006 Gti instead of an older version. The GTi logo on the dash really gives it that fresh, new gen feeling.
