Quote from NightShift :The idea of pulling the car out of the slide is very intuitive especially if you think of small angles, but take a look at this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPCGnkApnDU

Flooring the throttle actually keeps the front wheels from losing too much speed (which would result in a spin as you point out), the fronts couldn't pull it straight since the car is basically sideways and the tyres, regardless of the countersteer are even not pointing in the direction of movement.

Something is wrong with physics in that BTCC game

Quote from obsolum :I have to agree on that. The first time I tried the 1.1 beta I had a hard time getting the wheel properly set up. I have no clue why it asks the user to turn the wheel 90°, that's retarded IMO. Other than that I can't really think of any other complaints I had. Haven't tried the RC, though.

Pity I don't like openwheelers more.

As far as i remeber from RSC, kunos got the calibration idea from iRacing. I don't like it too. I think it's not necessary, manually choosing rotation is perfectly fine for me.

Quote from 5haz :That can be adjusted.

Having quite a bit of trouble with the latest version, very wierd shadow bug and my PC reboots after synchronising with an online server, are these well known bugs?

I had some shadow bugs with 1.1, installed latest ATI driver and solved the issue. I had my car shadow displayed everywhere.

Hi Gills

Just looked through all 47 pages to find that F1 V10 sound form the first post, just to find out that it's not anywhere

I like your realistic V8 sounds and i'm all for realistic experience, but that V10 sound is...THAT good.

Since i'm not a big fan of metallica, i didn't actually heard how bad it was.

I found this example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRyIACDCc1I
sorry if some of you posted it, but i just cannot believe my ears!

What the **** they were listening to when they pulled this through limiter? Those distorted guitar parts at the end of a video! This is unbelievable.

Some of you posted that he gave dynamic-rich records to a friend and they said "it sounds like it comes from a cheap radio". Well retail Metallica album sounds like they took mastered version (let's imagine it is the one found in GH), played it on some system VERY loud, while recording that with microphone. Then they sad "yeah, this is how it was suppose to sound like".

I wouldn't call this ordinary "make it loud" effort. This is in different category, more like "something went horribly wrong".

..seems like it was their own fault, not the audio engineer. I guess there isn't one who would sign his name onto this.

What is your take on this? Don't care? Loathe it to death?

I hate this, seemingly no-ending "trend", of pumping AND ruining the music. As many said before me it's sad thing to see label "remastered" on old stuff, which in most cases equals to destroyed music.

Do you notice the difference in sound "quality"?
Sadly i do.

Do you know songs that actually don't have this "loudness"?

Every Dire Straits studio album Luckily for me as i'm big fan of the band.
Their second album Communique as a great example, because it features some songs which require a lot of dynamic range, for example "Where do you think you're going".

Does it change the way you buy/listen to songs?

Totally. If there is a overdone loudness in it, i listen to it once, and wish to do so never again.
The example of something which could turn out to be fantastic addon for the collection is this one, but they overdone the compression on there... It still features some dynamic range. But only "some". Too bad.

Quote from The Moose :Indeed, no amount. of fiddling with EQ can remove digital distortion introduced at the mastering stage. A well recorded, mixed and mastered album shouldn't need any EQ at all.

Yup, that's another of these horrible trends... A large amount of re-released remastered albums involve nothing more than getting the original and pushing it up to,and over the limit, in an attempt to make it sound more "punchy and lively" It's utter bullshit.

Couldn't agree more!

Quote from OkaChan :Most failed to see my point.

This company just wants to get their development costs back. It happens pretty often. All they care about is to sell their mod not to make the kids happy. Sure the g25 doesnt cost in parts what it costs in the store, but all products are made like that. Still u can make all the excuses u want about your English speaking employess. I guess u just dont take it serious enough, the commercial marketing part that is. And for the mod its like getting a cheap Punto, putin in a racing battery in it and high performance sparkplugs and sell it on for twise as much.

Well what do you think? For a small production, hand made product, price is always high. And especially when you spend a lot of time AND money in getting the product to function properly.
Those examples can be found in variety of branches, like car industry, high-quality audio equipement...

Surely, if ARC_team would order from one of the companies in China to manufacture their product, it could end lot cheaper, but then they are risking the Chinese company stealing their work, and all the investment goes for nothing.

Quote from OkaChan :
p.s. Frex and other products are actually developed by those companies. Parts machined etc softwaremade.. All you did is find exsisting parts and put em together. Sure big up for that, but its not worth the money ur asking.

So you say that FREX manufactured capacitors, resistors, optical encoders, motors?

ARC_team found existing parts? For sure they are not mad to go create their own capacitors and transformers.

Even car manufacturers are mostly that: they order parts from various companies and put them together and bingo! You get your car.
Look after the Valeo logo on various parts on whatever the car you have...

Logitech is also if look like that: they found parts and assembled them together. All they did is engineered something. Oh wait, ARC guys also did engineer something.

Quote from danowat :That did it, many thanks

Now I can't get my pedals to work with it, wheel works, nothing on the pedals or shifters, tried setting the controller options, nothing.

Well, the reason why i asked did you copy config files at first was because i tought you did so before you posted about dracula error. Someone said that config files shouldn't be copied over, for you it solved a problem

I would suggest you to erase controller.cfg or whatever it is called. I'm currently away from home, for few days already. Don't have nkp installed here, as i'm posting from mobile phone, so couldn't exactly tell what to do.

I think i *read* something about one config file of this beta2 should be deleted, and then after you start the game it will be recreated, and everything should work fine...

Copied across driver and license folders to my documents, firstly I was getting an error where the program couldn't find the Abarth splash.bmp, copied another in to try and get it working.

Now all I get when trying to run it is "failed to CreateDevice", something to do with Dracula or some other shite.

The program is a nightmare, guess I am too used to stuff just working

I got the same error in the beta1.
I tried to enable scazzato in nksound.cfg.

Did you copy your config files aswell?

I think that is mirror resolution, which is adjusted in some file directly associated with mod, its not global property.
AFAIK in .plr file you can adjust mirror details, like visible parts of the car in mirrors.

I want to lower resolution in them even more, as mirrors on nordschleife are taking 20 or even more fps on my system.

Quote from Niels Heusinkveld :I only know few who actually use 900 degrees, lots of people use less, have sensitive steering and tend to smash the pedals.

IMO when you are really carefull with the weight transfer, these cars can be neutral or even oversteery. I guess LFS teaches this driving style a little better than most rfactor mods but still, the average simmer is quite ham fisted / footed and I've seen plenty!

I tend to go into small oversteer most of the time, it's such a joy to position this car on corner entry with brake pedal.

You can't blame rfactor community for being unsmooth, they are used to "standard" rfactor mods, where you hit the brakes as hard as you can, after shaving enough speed jump of them, point the car, and throttle out. Of course, if you go 2 km/h faster you'll spin.

Niels, it would be nice if there was a 17,5 steer ratio upgrade for 900° wheels, or whenever you do know whats the real steer ratio of the car, add an appropriate upgrade option for it.

Whenever i load some other track i to which didn't assigned any setup, o must go into garage, and click clikc cklick ckiklck...Steering lock = 26. Click "RACE". Not that much of a fuss, but, you know, time is money

Hi Niels, i'm also interested in joining this testing.

I for example, have been driving your 'Vette since the first ever version. And back then it was the most joyable thing ever to exist on rF. Some time before it came out, i discovered RealFeel, driven Caterhams, Meganes, and mostly M3 E46 Street Racing mod with it.

But when Corvette V1.0 was out, i said let's try this, i couldn't believe how better then anything it was.
Important for this testing is that I could easily correct slides without facing the oppposite way. Back then, i had DFP, it was set to about 450 or even 720 - but only if i was in the mood if giving it additional propelling.

And then v2.0 came out, by which i already had G25, and it was even better then 1.0. At first for short time was driving it on 720, but then increased it to 900, and used 32 lock in garage, don't remember did i decreased it over time.

And then 3.0 came out. And it was....different. I was one of the whingers over at that thread at rsc, was pointing my finger at alot stuff, like diff, arb... But i just cannot drive it with confidence i had before. And not only the Z06, also the C51. Gotta try all versions once again for comparison.

Also historix, i can oversteer them all the way, whenever i want to (72 & 76 cars we are talking about).

And also, F312, it's so damn hard to keep it in check, but you don't need to take notice of this, because i just didn't give it proper test time.

Quote from Bob Smith :Curious that the R26.R has softer springs than the R26.

R26.R is much lighter then R26, and as was written in EVO "which enabled them to use softer springs" - probably in the end frequency is almost the same.

EDIT.
OOps, haven't read the thread to the end before posting, just saw Quarpasteur's post...

Quote from George Kuyumji :
...take the BMW F1 car out on any track, Aston or Blackwood, dont you think the car is awesome, for me its the best F1 car made in any sim ever, its a blast, and everything it does seems comprehensible, when you made a mistake you know exactly what you have done wrong and if you nail a corner it feels awesome, for the first time in a commercially available Sim an F1 car feels great.

But then you take this car on like Aston and you think, yeah this track is fun, but I want to hustle the car around the streets of Monaco, the LFS tracks doesnt do the car justice. You want to take the LFS F1 car around Monaco, Spa, Suzuka, you want to take the LX4 up the hill at Brands Hatch or a multiclass car race on the Nordschleife. We are missing out on these things and there is alot more potential in LFS then we see now.

Well said!

Quote from arc team :We are very happy for your reply on this thread, I hope you'd be glad to know that our CONTROLLER.INI for RFACTOR is based on your CONTROLLER.INI, we just optimized it for our needs but it liked much to us.

Well I'm glad you used it, because it's purpose was getting realistic feedback for rFactor mods that "don't support real feel". Don't support isn't correct term for this, but it became used widely... For the realistic feedback the best is to go with realistic suspension (ie. suspension links not floating around) + real feel.
Also, that controller.ini I created using a guide by Julien Regnard.

Quote from arc team :About your query I think we could say: to obtain the same behavior (or better) of the original G25 on the G25 modded (without the saturation that you mentioned), you gotta decrease the values on the G25 properties menu, in this way the maximum FF is never reached (or reached at the right point) making your sensation more real.
Thanks!

Glad to hear that! Wide feedback dynamic range is what is more needed IMO + of course stronger feedback

Glad to see someone is modding G25, but not just cosmetic mod!

What interestes me the most is this.
Overall force strenght is increased - but IMO what G25 lacks the most is more dynamics in FF output - like dynamics in music.
Take netKar pro for example plus some winged car. If you put ff gain low, you feel difference between small forces i.e. when going straight, or when going through corner much slower then the car is capable (small tire load) - but when you push it (still in slow corner) - force increases - you feel tire is carrying much more load now. but problem comes in fast corners - force should now be much stronger - the load is much greater on tire because of added aero downforce... but it's not - because FF is already at it's maximum.
This is what intersets me. Not just plain strenght increase, rather does it imply more dynamics with it?

Skid sounds are common for all cars, located in \\nkpro\sfx\, not in each car's sfx folder.

There is another one named skid.wav.pro, you can use that one instead, just rename it to skid.wav, and of course rename (or delete) the old one to something else.
