It isn't on forehead, it's on top of your head, like a hat
I've included a photo of what i made in the very last of the post, check it out.
It's basically a headphone, a phon holder from a selfie stick and some straps
I attached the holder uptop in the middle and used iron wires to lock it in place aswell as electric tape, and casual straps (got 2 unused straps from a men's handbag) and made one that goes on back of head and the other on forehead, it gave amazing stability even if violent moves were done.. Not even slips.
Budget VR... No need for any tracking hardware like IR or a webcam..
This method uses phone's gyroscope and accelerometer and sends it over UDP so pc client can process it.
How it will work ?
you need to have your phone placed on top of your head! may look silly but its worth it.
before you go deep, this will not work if your phone doesn't have a gyroscope and a accelerometer sensors.
after installing both apps on both devices, we need to configure them so they can connect with each other.
but first, make sure both PC and Phone are connected to the same Network (WIFI or you can use tethering Hotspot from your phone and connect to it from pc)
- on your PC:
Click on your keyboard WINDOWS + R keys, a cmd will appear.
type: ipconfig then click enter.
Locate the IPV4 address (looks like this : 192.168.1.12) and save it for next step
- on your Phone:
launch the app and scroll down, you must see a field for the IP,
enter your PC IP there.
Set port to 4242.
Now if you hit start tracking on both apps a movement should be detected, however we are not done.
How to set up OpenTrack on PC:
on the main interface:
set the Input to : UDP over network
click the hammer icon and set the same port that u typed inside the android app (in our case it was 4242)
set the Output to : freetrack 2.0 Enhanced
set the Filter to : Accela
click the hammer icon and set the same values as shown in this image: https://imgur.com/olvL2eM
Next step: Click Options:
in the shortcut tab , you can set keybinding
i just used:
Center : numberpad 5
Toggle : numberpad +
Check both Center at startup and Never translate the application interface
simple setup. just apply as below: https://imgur.com/aFZwCaS
i found these values are the best after 2 hour tweaking.
now you are done!
Notes:
- the android app doesn't seem to keep working when screen is locked/off so just turn brightness to lowest to safe battery and prompt the app to use intensive battery or what i mean is allow to run in background, its actually very battery friendly.
- Face your phone towards the screen and click Calibrate for the app to use these coordinates as the origin, make sure its placed flat as possible, as if u set it on table.. Actually just set it on table in front of screen. Yes do that.
- You can center the screen using the binded key and it will use the new center as origin
- everything can work offline as long as they connected to same wireless network
- values for sensors may not work for all devices depending on the gyroscope and accelerometer sensitivity of your device
- You may feel neck pain due to the device weight on your head, remember to take a break sometimes
What you can use to set the phone still on your head?
i used:
- old headphones.
- old selfie stick phone holder, took the part out of the stick.
- some straps.
- tape.
aaaaaaaaaaand the vey pro design is : https://imgur.com/dpjfH2D
Can the spinning subobject be modified to when the user stops the function, the spinning continues to the original place. Or maybe an editor option (continue spinning to origin yes or no)
First of all, ty scawen for listening and follow up what the community wants.
Good ones!
- maybe another type of rotator that just keeps the movement untill toggled off (like Wipers, going back and forth until disabled)
- "for future" Also maybe the spinners could be used to replicate a pivot point for trailer support of some kind but thats in future of course. We don't want to pressure you now.
I like 360 but in cases of the sub was used for a decorative purpose like for example a small motor for the pop ups it then needs to spin some more so I'd say it's better to have it spin couple of rounds before stooping, maybe keep the angle range but add options from x1 to x10 for times of repeating before stooping.
Centimeters for sure. Always go big so it isn't a requested thing 1 day after puplish.
Also, cranes.
Perfect setup. I like having control for each one multiplied seperately.
yes,but isn't it possible and more convenient if we used the removed l-tbrk l-cbrk l-ttail l-stail as functions and just rename them to something else
This way we save the fog and extra mapping.
Looking forward for it, ty.

Reason : alot of thinking while awake in bed when I'm not supposed to.
yes i have LFS added into the auto launch in my AMD Radeon settings but it just not working.
here is what it shows in graphics for the used adapter.(smh yellow text not entirely visible but its Intel R HD graphics 520 which is integrated)..btw I'm on a laptop.
I don't know if this is just me or what, but lfs is runing on my integrated gpu intel hd thing while providing max 30 fps.
I have a dedicated gpu "radeon r5 2gb" that I'd love to be able to use but i don't seem to be able to change the adapter.
after the D50 patch i noticed a stutter, more like a stuck situation
when downloading a mod or LFS is requesting mod image or mod list, while spectating and pressing shift + j or shift + p to join or go to garage to pick a car, the garage (vanilla cars images) flash for a split second and sends me back to spectating..
i cant join at all or even pick a car when LFS is requesting something or downloading a mod
I may not have the best internet but prior to D50 i was able to just pick a vanilla car and join when this happened.
Hi, so there's no actual snap function
But you can puta subobject or a point exactly where you need it to be.
By putting values of it's coordinates.
r for Right/Left
f for forward and backward
u for altitude
Theres is 2 types of flipping.
#1 is a full flip: which flips the whole tris of an object around it's center
#2 swap sides: which reverse the coordinates of its point's
They may look the same but they mighty be used in different cases
I see you are trying to place the steering rack in place. So I'd suggest doing the following :
Placing the Subobject coordinates at 0 for all axis
Then manually moving it's points to where it should be on the built side of drive
Then from the subobject menu > flip function : set to swap side
It should work well.
For further details of the overall functions and navigation in lfse yiu can take a look at the lfs editor manual https://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/Main_Page
Agreed, needs this.. This is a sim racing.. And racing isn't limited to 4 wheels and race cars... If this makes it into game at some point it will make for a whole new world of racing,cruising.. Etc
I'd love to a trailer support or lets say a PIVOT POINT where it allows mod makes to define an object to be towed or simple used as a steering method (like a hydraulic one)
Most derby races have a trailer and some old busted car
