I guess i don't know how the game engine is built. In most games using a custom model won't change the hitboxes, thus making no gameplay difference.

Anyway i can't talk today, very busy army day.

I never said licenced cars. I said custom vehicle models. Which means nobody has to pay nobody to have a licence to use a real-life car because the models will be created by members of the community (including me, i know my way around 3dsmax).

About the deformation... It can be made customly as well but it doesn't matter to this suggestion because nobody forces you to use a custom vehicle model.

This reminds me of a forum i've been going to. People just tend to say "no" without giving a logical explanation or an actual valid reason why a suggestion is a bad suggestion.

Being able to use a custom car is just like being able to use a custom skin, custom car interior, custom road textures, etc. There is no difference at all and i see no reason at all for turning this suggestion down like that.
Custom vehicle models

I've went over this thread and haven't seen the thing I want to suggest.

Just like it's possible to use custom skins for any vehicle, I would like being able to use models for any vehicle. It won't change the gameplay and won't really require the LFS makers to work much on it. The models will not be made by Scavier, obviously. I'm sure some people here know how to use ms3d or 3dsmax or maya or whatever. It'll just give some of us something to do.

And maybe I'll finally have my Subaru Impreza. :P

I played this back when it was in the earliest stages and it sucked. I hope it got better by now.

I won't be testing it myself because i'm in the army now.

Even though valve take a fair share from selling games on steam, the game will become more popular just by being on steam, allowing popup news, auto updates, etc.

I remember how people hated steam back around 2004, but now it's just brilliant.

I'm a mouse player, so I always have to listen to the engine because I don't have other forces, for example force-feedback.

I never play with music on.

Too late for that, I'm going to the army on Tuesday.

Being firewalled does not mean a virus can't enter. It's there to block incoming connections (Which is kind of obsolete, because if you have a trojan on the machine, it's going to use OUTgoing connections, making the firewall useless. That's why you should use Comodo's Firewall Pro. Hate to advertise it, but after trying ~15 firewalls in 30 days, I came to the conclusion that they all suck except Comodo's. It's also free forever ).

Not having an antivirus is like being blind. Doesn't mean there can't be a terrorist in front of you just because you can't see him.

Quote from Hankstar :Yet you responded anyway

I'm kind of dumb too, couldn't resist. Les Claypool was supposed to be on my list, he just wasn't on the top of my head at that moment. He's pretty bloody good.

That's kind of dumb, there are thousands of bassists that people favor. ;/

Of the top of my head, some of the most famous guys:

Jaco Pastorious, Larry Graham, Bootsy Collins, Louis Johnson, Mark King, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Rocco Prestia, Steve DiGiorgio, Tony Choy, John Myung and I can go on and on. ;/

Woah, so many bassists here.

I'm one as well. I currently use a Yamaha BB614 but will probably get something better soon. It does sound pretty good with the proper EQ.

Awesome looking bass, btw.

You should probably allow the LFS.exe and open the needed ports for the server browser and the game.

Norton sucks, so I can't tell you exactly how to do it. You'll probably be just as safe with the Windows Firewall.

Quote from Vykos69 :You have just proven, that with a postcount of 99, you dont know nothing about LFS and your opinion is worthless ( ).

It's their main job, no other job there, so it is kind of the sole purpose...

Anyway, the further LFS goes on, the smaller the developmentsteps get, as the work on the small steps grow a lot more.

Even though it's the 'sole purpose' in their life, they aren't very active about it. I know a dev team of 2 people who work faster than that and they do it as a hobby (For now, who knows what happens when the project is done).

When I have a 'sole purpose', I probably do it 8-10 hours nonstop everyday. ;/

Now playing: Gardenian - (Sindustries-2000-) - Doom & Gloom [06:33] \m/

This was one of the first metal bands I've ever listened to. Amazing how much I loved this album back in 2001-2002. :o

A team of three could probably release meaningful but small updated every month if it was the sole purpose of their life.

But since it probably isn't, be happy with whatever you can get. The current version is very playable so there shouldn't be too many reasons to whine about it.

Might be your firewall that pops in the background and asks for permission.

Try disabling the firewall or start the game in a windowed mode.

If it was possible use the 'Steer center reduction' option under the Wheel/JS controls, then it would've been possible to use the X axis for steering and Y axis for throttle/brake, but to use the Y axis for brake, you must use the Wheel/JS controls instead of the mouse/keyboard.

The 'Steer center reduction' is not present on that screen and steering with a mouse without that option is IMPOSSIBLE. Maybe if the developers put that option for the sake of mouse players in a next patch, then Y axis throttle/brake could be useful.

Suggestion here ^

I use my mouse buttons to throttle/brake/shift-gears/clutch and the X axis to steer. I use the keyboard to look left/right/back. I kind of suck though.

I love LFS because I hate all other racing games/simulators. Driving in them feels like crap.

Driving in LFS feels like driving on grass/ice, but I guess it's just because the cars are so fast and the sense of speed is low compared to other games because the default FOV is 90, which makes it feel slow.

If you like the demo, you are going to enjoy the game alot with S2 and a DFP.

I'm playing with a mouse and having fun anyway, except that most people don't enjoy playing with a mouse for long, so getting a wheel should be a top priority.

Oo....k.

The steering wheel is not good enough for people that play with a mouse.

Sometimes, after heavy counter-steering, you turn the wheel two full turns to the opposite side without noticing it and the car goes insane.

A steering gauge option should always be available, same as you can have digital mirrors/gauges while driving in cockpit view.
