Race Review

I will just bring this topic back to life to showcase these 3 files of , in my opinion , good racing.

This was taken earlier tonite / last night ( tis midnight here ) on the LFSNorge server of LFS S2 , the track is South City Classic and the equipment is the v. nice MRT5.

I have summerised the main points of each replay , to save you missing any special parts of the 8-lap action within each race.

Now obviously , i disclaim that I hope the racers mentioned let me write up about 'em , and that i can use the server name and not all incidents may have happened exactly as i say they do.

But , they are listed below , so it should be easier to watch each part that happens.

lets start.

RACE 1 ...

Good amount of starters , and good racing throughout.

Raffe goes off early , and the pack head up to the first corner where we all attempt to file thro ( some more succesful than others )

Straight after this , quickly move to my ( RenaultF1tm cockpit camera/view ) and watch what happens just exiting the chicane ( luckily i have reactions of a sleeping cat ... )

The pack spread out after the chicane , as most tend to do ( for obvious reasons ) and most interest is turned to Raffe and MightyFc from 3rd lap until around 5th lap , where they are in a close and enjoyable-to-watch racing mood hehe.

As LFSNorge takes the race into 6th lap , just after the bridge , VDT|_Tdnoz_ is caught unaware by the blueflag system and commits race suicide to stop himself from crashing with race leader , good on you VDT ! lolol

The action then centres on Goose on his 6th lap just after the chicane , as he hits the barrier and does something worthy of a " 9 " in an indoor gymnastics event.

For the rest of the laps , steady racing is in place , as GFsC*Yahh(NOR) pulls out the stops and hits some nice race times for the track ( 50:**s ).

That concludes RACE1.

RACE2 starts shortly after , and so you'll notice the same names just about.

RACE 2 ...

A close racing contest is observed from the start .... for the first 20 seconds or so anyways ...

Then at T1 , the drivers begin to pick there way through the MRTs lying strewn on the course after a race incident ( yes , that i caused )

However , i pick myself up and viewers are recommended to watch my MRT as yet more close and professional racing is commenced on 2nd / 3rd and 4th lap by me and drivers around me.

Then , on that lap , ( 4th ) i get yellow flags for the course ahead no less than 3 times , and watch particularly the last turn on that lap , as I nearly get crushed by a MRT that has flipped the pit lane wall ( dunno how he did it ) , barely missing me ( those sleeping cat reflexes again methinks )

LFSNorge.Net pulls some nice times as well , ( under 51s ) for the following 2 laps.

I somehow manage to crash going down a relatively straight part of the course entering my 6th lap ... illepall

DFHZRichie has an alteration with a metal fence after exiting the chicane on his 6th lap.

Good times and Good driving is pretty much the order of the day for the last 2 or so laps.

RACE3 was also in quick succesion to RACE2 , and so here it is ...

RACE 3 ...

EVERYONE MAKES IT CLEANLY THROUGH T1 !!! ( very rare hehe )

But , sods law ... there is an incident at T1 in lap 2 although nothing major.

Just before lap 3 , I somehow find myself in 2nd position and make a determined mental note to gaurd that place with my life !! ... ...

... by the end of that lap ... i was back in 3rd place

Nice Driving and Good times by LFSNorge.net and GFsC*Yahh(NOR) for the next laps.

I think this is the race where i somehow finish first.

That concludes the Race Reviews

Obviously I missed some parts of each driver , as i cant view them all at every second , but the above for all Races is definately some of the best ( and funniest ) parts of the action.

Thanks for viewing folks.

@ Lible ,

Quote :Ignore all the elitist CRAP that is being written by people who should know better at the moment. You've paid for this game and you therefore have the right to play on ANY public server.

If there is really important " win win win " games going on , then the server gets or should be in the first place , passworded.

Quote :just use sense , and if there is a BF1 Grand Prix with 63 laps and 24 cars driving in it , then that really isnt the time to take out that UF100 that you have never driven before

Quote :I recommend you to join not very popular (less drivers) server. Andre's (the monkey, you know) for example.

Two qoutes above mean pretty much the same thing , so no worries.

Hello there , and welcome

Well , it really depends on what car and track you like most and what one you want to learn first before moving on.

I would recommend the training sessions in LFS , then a little bit of Single Player with about 10 AI cars Just to get into the racing side.

But certainly dont be afraid to make mistakes online too , most drivers are friendly indeed and its v. common indeed for good drivers to make mistakes on laps or even entire races in a server.

Just today , i was on the T7R server ( a well known , high quality racing team ) in a FOX , a car i have never driven before since getting S2 Licensed on saturday , I drove about , came off about 11 times , didnt finish 3 races and only got a 1:07 before calling it quits ( the others were pulling 1:01s every other lap ).

So , you may in fact find others who are also learning ! There really is no specific server i can think of , just use sense , and if there is a BF1 Grand Prix with 63 laps and 24 cars driving in it , then that really isnt the time to take out that UF100 that you have never driven before

Thanks and good luck

Quote :but it's also incredibly boring

hmm , i dissagree completly , watching the skill of the drivers as they each make an attempt to better their position in the race , at strategic times / laps of the race.

The efficieny of the pit team and drivers as they arrive into and exit the pit lane in minimum time.

The general excitement of a 63/64 endurance race , sometimes in extreme heats across all continents of the world , under different conditions that are never the same.

The technical desisions of tyres to be used and fuel in order to take full advantage of when the opponent takes his pit lap.

And thats just half of it !

Those things above are what i really love about F1 , i dont think people or the general public think about to often.

With dragracing its just speed , speed , speed ... stop in time safely stop in time safely stop in time safely.

I really dont think F1 will become like that for a long time , at least if the teams are wanting to win ( because they must always be improving there product while obliging to the rules of the FIA ).

I suppose this is true , but ...

Most normal , good drivers use the map function to check if traffic is arriving behind them , coupled with the mirrors and relying on the Blue Flag system to help as well.

I completly understand , I know there are people that come out , cross the entry/exit line just to get out to turn the next corner easier , but , you gotta wonder if the light system or something would help , because its not like they dont know , because even if there isnt traffic coming , they shouldnt be going out across the line in the first place. Same for when actually leaving the pit lane , after the line , caution should be used , it just depends on the driver whether they use it or not ( which is a shame really , as its dangerous and unrealistic ).

I just want to say i fully agree and think exactly the same on the following points ...

Quote :With modern day safety feature's in F1, it's all to easy to forget the high level's of danger these young guys put themselves into, every time they step into the car

yes , couldnt agree more

Quote :no matter the level of talent, you've got to admire their bravery, and dedication, in a sport that continually ask's them if they are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice

well said , i second that again

Quote :Folk whinge about F1 being boring, but personally, i'd rather watch a boring race, than watch someone being killed or seriously injured every week on live mainstream TV.

I always thought that since i started watching F1 , and genuinely love good steady racing of 63 laps or so , instead of dangerous stuff

Quote :I applaud anyone who make's it into F1

once more , agree.

Thanks

true ,

although the driver realises later down the track and you see him pull in and cause another crash , i dunno if it would be shock or if he would even realise what had happened.

All of it is terribly sad to see and makes me not really want to race at the moment.

Been thinking about it the last 2 days now ( which i know probably isnt enough to warrant a post , but ... ) ...

Basically , there hasnt been much happening with the MRT5 for a while now in LFS as far as competition is concerned , and I do find people in S2 every so often doing races in the MRT ( had the pleasure of racing in them the last 3 days , you know who you are ) So i think there could be some interest , even if its just to get a small competition going.

It would be an Event type thing lasting 2-3 months , with one race each week or 1 and a half weeks or whatever.

I like the idea of keeping the Formula side , and so , each week , drivers could practice for the upcoming track , making adjustments and such to best suit that course , then on race day , we go through the qualifying and race , then we move on , new track for next week , and so at some point during the week , its in the driver's best interest to test out and adjust for the race weekend.

I have 8 tracks that I believe best put the MRT and driver through challenging courses , and so , 8 tracks , one track a week ( or 1 and a half weeeks ) would equal it about 2-3 months in duration.

I think around about 10-20 drivers would probably best suit this , as that keeps competition relatively close , as well as not causing havoc on some of the tracks.

Feel free to jump in with thoughts please , and ... I have not done / organized anything like this before , but do like the idea

Thanks

yip ,

i must say , i hadnt heard about this high-nose thing until this post , but being still on DEMO , it probably wont matter , as there is problems staying on the track on some DEMO servers let alone getting a to top speed lol.

The new physics patch does sound good , will have S2 license by then
