I just want to say i fully agree and think exactly the same on the following points ...

Quote :With modern day safety feature's in F1, it's all to easy to forget the high level's of danger these young guys put themselves into, every time they step into the car

yes , couldnt agree more

Quote :no matter the level of talent, you've got to admire their bravery, and dedication, in a sport that continually ask's them if they are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice

well said , i second that again

Quote :Folk whinge about F1 being boring, but personally, i'd rather watch a boring race, than watch someone being killed or seriously injured every week on live mainstream TV.

I always thought that since i started watching F1 , and genuinely love good steady racing of 63 laps or so , instead of dangerous stuff

Quote :I applaud anyone who make's it into F1

once more , agree.

Thanks

true ,

although the driver realises later down the track and you see him pull in and cause another crash , i dunno if it would be shock or if he would even realise what had happened.

All of it is terribly sad to see and makes me not really want to race at the moment.

I know the MRT thing being worked on a is a league , so was just thinking of something similar ... but different

I know I should be waiting , but I am just enjoying the MRT alot , and cant wiat for competition to start up

Been thinking about it the last 2 days now ( which i know probably isnt enough to warrant a post , but ... ) ...

Basically , there hasnt been much happening with the MRT5 for a while now in LFS as far as competition is concerned , and I do find people in S2 every so often doing races in the MRT ( had the pleasure of racing in them the last 3 days , you know who you are ) So i think there could be some interest , even if its just to get a small competition going.

It would be an Event type thing lasting 2-3 months , with one race each week or 1 and a half weeks or whatever.

I like the idea of keeping the Formula side , and so , each week , drivers could practice for the upcoming track , making adjustments and such to best suit that course , then on race day , we go through the qualifying and race , then we move on , new track for next week , and so at some point during the week , its in the driver's best interest to test out and adjust for the race weekend.

I have 8 tracks that I believe best put the MRT and driver through challenging courses , and so , 8 tracks , one track a week ( or 1 and a half weeeks ) would equal it about 2-3 months in duration.

I think around about 10-20 drivers would probably best suit this , as that keeps competition relatively close , as well as not causing havoc on some of the tracks.

Feel free to jump in with thoughts please , and ... I have not done / organized anything like this before , but do like the idea

Thanks

I think there is many of these topics around at the moment , so be prepared for some people to tell you to go and read them hehe , but ...

I completly agree ( think its not needed for now ).

ahh ,

Well , purely for the technical problems i have noticed a few drivers have getting it going ( i havent tried yet myself ) , i would still vote purely for MRTs alone , because at least then they can be modified with the LFS Garage area , and so everyone still gets there chance / choice of variables for their own personal like or dislike.

I know i dont really have the right to say much having just joined and never raced the MRT in an actual race ( ... yet Wink ) , but , i am fully in favour of this , like we spoke about Danny.

I also wouldnt mind racing my MRT against other MRTs modified with Mechanik , if the drivers of the respective karts think there Mechanik modified kart is just as good , then thats fair.

But with the MRT , would come the request from me for as many of the kart league people as possible to sit down one night and discuss just exactly what tracks should and shouldnt be used in the karting league for when it gets into full swing , which i would i am pretty sure happens in real-life and Formula 1 and stuff to some extent.

My views on the tracks can be saved for another topic another time , but my view on the MRT , is that it should become part of the Karting League again , as well as the Mechaniks karts if people still enjoy them.

Thanks

Hey ,

is it not possibly possible ( ?? ?? ) to have 2 racedays ? or more ? in 1 week ? That way , people who cant make it to one , at least can make it to another ?

I dont even mean a raceday more than once a week , i mean a practice ? I got S2 Licensed just today , but have looked often and there seems to be no practice sessiones utilizing the MRT alone ? sure i might not have been looking long enough , but i guess i am just keen to get started

thanks

yip ,

i must say , i hadnt heard about this high-nose thing until this post , but being still on DEMO , it probably wont matter , as there is problems staying on the track on some DEMO servers let alone getting a to top speed lol.

The new physics patch does sound good , will have S2 license by then

I simply ask for a fast persons setup , then dont change the final drives / gears very much , and just alter all the other stuff for my personal preference.

yip ,

in my limited experience so far , it truly is an excellent side to this game , and again , i use F1 ( that i enjoy alot ) as an example ...

LFS is just too realistic What works for one in one track , will almost defintely need adjustments for another track , just like F1 racing , all those different courses and tempratures means its excellent fun to do just like the pros do , and do practice laps on a circuit before actually racing on it. Then that gives good advice on what needs to be changed , perhaps tyre pressures slightly , or whatever it is , to give you your best possible lap time on that track. Moving onto another circuit for the next race of the season means , yet again , spending all weekdays testing and trying for the next new PB on the new circuit.

! excellent

Hello there all ,

Dupson i think you just slightly contradicted yourself from what you posted when i made my first reply earlier , but i did read your edited part at end of post and am happy to leave it as this , good luck in future races

Quote :Person that gets on track in the middle of the race and blocks others = arsehole - i wont change that opinion.

i never said i did this when joining in middle race , and have posted the exect opposite about blocking racers , yet you still insult me in first post , but oh well.

SparkyDave ,

hello there m8 , good to speak to you

Quote :If were talking BL1 1st chicain, I would take a normal line in and hug the lefthander to take a wide (left) line out, with my left signal on and allow the lapping car to gain a good exit (dosnt allways happen that way ) but thats just me .

me too m8 ! thats the one to do

Quote :Bitching about or banning people because you dont like to use the brake pedal for traffic is somthing Ill never understand, we are all here to race (or drift ugg) and have fun .

too true

Quote :PS Hurry up and buy a S2 licence Calum

cant wait m8 , i'll get one as soon as i can ( which shouldnt be long ) , i am very interested in the V8 and other karts / formula 1 / 2 / 3 type cars ( hence my name in LFS ( at bottom of post )) , so i use the GTI in DEMO at the moment , but once i get S2 license , i will be onto the formula 1 type cars immediatly.

I'll let you know when i get it m8 , i think i am a safe enough driver for you to show me round a few of the courses one weekend or evening , without me causing any kafuffle

Thanks

Thanks to the two posts above for backing me up ,

Dupson , thats your opinion , i dont mind what you think , i really dont think / didnt mean to write my post in a way that makes you think i am the cause of this type of situation for every server , you write it as if you are telling the person who always gets in the way , perhaps i am one of the decent ones who you always pass without any problem ? Smile

Like i say , in real racing , i am pretty sure just cause the leader or a lapping driver is coming past , like many have said in this post , doesnt make him special , sure , he is a concern to me now that i realise the blue flag , but hey , if he is truly faster , then he should be able to get past very well if i drive normally , and just keep my line during a straight. If he/she is not faster but still a lap ahead , then i like to think these drivers that have the skills , also have the sense , and just hold off for one or two seconds while i take the series of turns , or the chicane , or whatever it is. I am positive drivers are fine with being 1 or 2 seconds off of there lap time just for 1 lap , while they wait for me to get out of the way / onto a safe place to let them pass. Then for all the other laps , ( chances are they wont lap me again , or if they do , its doubtful it will be at another difficult place for me to let them past ) then they can continue getting those fast lap times.

If someone is trying to overtake in an obviously difficult place to pass safely , then i admit a little bit of respect from me to them dissapears , and i just concentrate on myself getting through , and driving normally.

If you are " fighting for 1st and 2nd by racing someone for 4 laps " , which i am sure you always are Wink , then maybe its the RIGHT decision to slow down just a touch while i get onto a safe place to move over. If the " cowboy " goes ahead and tries to overtake , and ends up wiping me and him/her out , then all the better for you , you end up being first because of decent racing sense ! and that is just as good as being fast , kudos to you.

See how it works ?

In fact , i would even go as far to say that , in SOME situations , if it is difficult for me to get out the way , and its a blue flag i am getting , and i end up getting wiped by some " ar*ehole " who thinks he owns the track just cause he is near the front of the race pack , then my opinion would be that it was NOT my fault , they should not have been trying to overtake in that difficult area.

Thanks again to the two posts for seeing the same sense as i do , but to all guys and gals , is it not just common sense reading these posts ?

Thumbs up

Calum

EDIT : looks like another person above just posted with the same sense i write about , ...

"1st chicane at BL GP for instance, you end up slowing them down more if you change your line halfway through, than if you just go through normal and let them by when its safe to."

thanks RtsBasic as well Smile

In my limited experience on the DEMO ( soon to become S2 ) license , then i have found that , if blue flagged before or during a a chicane or series of sharp , close turns , then i reall dont do anything different to be honest. I just concentrate loads on getting to the straight the fastest my car will take me round the track , then of course on the straight way , i just hold the line , and keep going as fast as i can.

I think this is quite a fair way ? surely in real world if a cars going to be blue flagged at the chicane , then they cant do much differently , just wait till the end of it.
