This thread has changed both mine and many other peoples opinions on parts of this community. It is an absolute joke.

Some peoples attitudes are disgusting. I suggest if you can't post constructive criticism and/or take criticism on the chin, then don't bother posting in a discussion forum.

I have seen some stupid posts in this thread and with all due respect to you FM guys, in general the way you have responded to feedback (which you wanted) has been nothing short of disgraceful.

Language barrier or not, you "post tone" can still be picked up. I understand that people get annoyed with certain things and I accept it's not totally your fault, but you need to look at yourselves a little bit more, before passing all the blame onto other people.

Now lets move on guys.

Crazy Harry; I've just read your signature. If you add up all the the non-oval tracks mileage, it smashes the oval.

So it isn't an oval sim, I got the impression you were trying to convince us it was.

Forgive me if I'm wrong...

I only see the odd driver on non oval configs, the couple I have met online have seemed polite, however I think the teams public relations and forum posting attitude could be improved.

Sometimes a few of you can come across very aggressive and don't look at other peoples point of views, often with silly arguments.

I disagree (along with many others) with the way you run your Oval server, but you say it promotes better racing. That's your opinion and I respect it.

I don't like how you have to sign up to view your website, although the layout seems clean and user friendly.

Quote from GTR_Yuni :I'm very happy I didn't get S2 now...

I'm sad that you feel that away about the community.

I can only say that not everyone is like that. Sure we all get pumped up and annoyed when things don't go our way, but at the end of the day the S2 community is good at heart.

Buy S2, you won't regret it.

This thread has turned into a joke. Lets leave personal insults away from here.

I think that a real gentle little tap in the bum is ok. I think that for those who don't take notice of the flags.

Just to let them know you are around and wanting to get passed. It doesn't cause damage, doesn't ruin their race and saves you losing time.

The pro's do it all the time.

Quote from tristancliffe :I said it needs practice, not skill. I might have the skill, but I sure as hell ain't gonna bother practicing. It's bad enough against mature, sensible, clean drivers, let alone on poorly run public servers.

Live for Speed Statistics: Woopie doo, you can count!

British National Party - this was put into my signature because of a converstaion on this forum a few days ago. Whilst I would not vote for the BNP, nor publically proclaim my support for them, I have to agree that SOME of their policies are in the best interest of England. Unfortuately the Great British Public is so caught up in this political correctness rubbish that can't or won't see that Britain is in massive decline. Not irrepairable decline yet but decline nonetheless. However, this is not a political discussion, and my views on politics should not influcence a discussion on whether LFS Ovalling is easy, if a touch time consuming, which it is. A mature argument can be held without going off the beaten track to use insults or opinions on different topics to improve your position in the current argument (or discussion, depending on your point of view).

+1 for everything you have said about the British National Party.

+0.95 for everything you've said about Oval racing. I think to race well and to get those last couple of hundredths you need a little bit of skill.

That maybe because he hasn't been online to reply.

I heard on the grapevine that they were very disappointed with GTR.

So it may be an improvement.

I think I understand, but that's the same in any type of racing. Moving chicanes and all.

Hotlapping though, I think you see my point.

It's difficult. When you race in publics a hell of a lot of people just ignore the blue flags (which mean let the person pass, let's not forget that) repeatably.

In a race they would be subject to a race penalty. Back markers aren't subjected to this in LFS, so the drive to move over and let someone pass is far lower.

If someone repeatably fails to move over although you are so much quicker, a nice little tap on the bum pushes them off line and allows you past.

Quote from 510N3D :uhm ok maybe you need a bit less skill because there are only 3 corners but if you think this way chris, drafting together is nothing else then hotlapping no matter how many cars are around. So finally i do not agree that the "overall skill level" is that low like you think.

I understand your point.

My generalisation comes from my experience of how long it took to get reasonably quick, when I used to race a lot on the oval in the FO8 days compared to how long it too get half decent when I race more on the tracks now.

In oval racing I disagree that when you race it's still just hotlapping. When you bump draft, yes, but when you do the standard draft and pass etc it isn't.

I think you could implement that rule quite safely into your server, the quality of the racing would go up.

Quote from tristancliffe :Bob's right - the current oval requires zero skill level (above the basics of turning one way and pressing a pedal hard).

In hotlapping mode, I can see his point. To get those last few hundredth you have to be quite skilled, but I'd say in general, the overall skill level to be able to have a decent lap is quite low.

Sorry to hear about this. I think all teams suffer from this at some point, you just hope that things are greener on the otherside.

Good luck for the future.

I totally agree, what would be the fun in a larger oval?

Quote from tristancliffe :Kangarooing has nothing to do with pressing the brake and the throttle - clearly some of you need to practice your driving

This is when accelerating away from a standstill. As you begin to slip the clutch and increase the throttle the car accelerates. This causes the car to jerk a bit, which throws your foot off the throttle a bit, causing you to slow down, which makes you press the throttle, which makes you.... and so on and so forth.

The effect is more noticable in cars with excess drivetrain shunt (i.e. play between loaded and driven). With practice you learn to adjust for that, by pivoting your feet in a different way, and being aware that the quickest way to deal with it is to let up on the clutch pedal more quickly and keep the transmission loaded more evenly.

That's the first problem I had when I first drove a car. It's fairly easy to pick up everything else but kangarooing makes you feel like a real novice.

It's just confidence with the clutch / throttle.
